Indoor: Mid of week 2 of Veg I tested the soil and discovered a lack of potassium. Should I worry now and amend the soil or wait til later to address if need be? PH is spot on. Temp/Humidity: good. BTW, I’m topping and mainlining, LST mid next week.

Hi @TerpDerp! I would not worry at this stage. Potassium is mostly used during the flowering stage, considering you're growing in soil your medium is supposed to have enough nutrients (Potassium included) for the first weeks, and even maybe for the entire vegetative stage. Less is more. Remember it's always easier to fix a slight deficiency than to recover from a slight toxicity. Your plant looks healthy, just keep an eye on its coloration and growth speed, in case you see a deficiency coming. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing! 👊

About 10 days out from harvest according to the trichomes. This is the first time I’ve used the split stem HST on my crop, anyone have any experience with this technique? I’d like to hear what some experienced growers have to say about it.

The stem splitting terrifies me tbh lol but from what I've read you are doing it correctly. There are other tips too to increase resin. Give 48 hours of darkness before harvest, never harvest when the lights are on. Stop watering 3 days before harvest. And try to drop temps and humidity in the final week too! 👍🌱

Hey mate good work lovely looking plant and welcome to the stem splitting club there's not too many of us 👍😊👏🙌👏 personally I prefer a one week max of splitting or nails through the stem before chop if you do it too early you will shrink your potential end weight. Perfect time is halfway through harvest flush ( after buds have packed on majority of their weight.) Only time I do it earlier is if I need to harvest before their ready. If it's done to early you get no more bud growth but they increase resin production like crazy... It's a last ditch attempt to protect their seed pods..👌

I personally have no experience with this method but it look like you times it just right. Also another tip is harvest before lights come on that day so none of the starches etc... Make up to the buds yet.

I would not be adding much nutes at this point. If your soil is good then Ph correct water and light is all she should really need at week2 in soil. I tend to over feed and water in soil. If your feed schedule is correct I would say your over feeding a bit. Big bloom runs at max 6tsp per gallon of water at this stage, your running 36tsp per gallon (6tsp=5ml). That said you can see my over feeding results in my dairies with ilgm stock. So far I can only burn the tips no matter how much I over try. She looks about ready for your main lining.

@@@@lilbp420, yes, going to start mainlining midweek. They seem a bit underdeveloped for what I want at this point. Currently at 5 nodes, but I want main stem to be a bit more beefy before topping and LST. Also, I’m running 6tsp Bloom per gallon spread out over the week and between 3 small plants with pH correct H2O added in between feedings. Don’t know if I’m doing it right, but the plants are vibrant and don’t seem to be lacking. Amended the soil with bat guano and 30% perlite by volume so I’m really relying on the plants to tell me what to do next. Indoors is tricky, but fun so far!

@Stick, thanks for the input. I amended the soil only slightly with bat shit, but other than that, I’m adding as I go. I cut nute regimen to 75% for the first 3 weeks of veg and they look healthy so I’m essentially going by what the plants tell me. My soil also contains 30% perlite by volume so they are loving the drainage. I just have to monitor the soil moisture more so than outside, obviously, but they are doing well so far. And yes, recovery from underfeeding is wayyyy easier than dealing with toxicity...so if they are a bit starved, they can tell me and I can add bit by bit. Thanks again for the info, my friend.

Hey there! Do you feel the stem splitting was beneficial or not? Thinking about trying it out myself. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Had a few problems with nute deficiencies and heat stress due to my air conditioner breaking the past few weeks, but I corrected the problems and I’m back in the game. A few weeks behind on my indoor grow due to extended veg cycle, but I’m fine with that. My outdoor grow (which isn’t part of my grow diary) is going great.

Thank you for the input. This is my first organic soil indoor grow (minus the “Grow Big” commercial nutes from Fox Farm) I’m used to dealing with outdoor conditions. The plants tell me what’s wrong, and I take care of the problem. Seems indoor is a bit more finicky, lol.
