Riddle_Fawkes I dont understand why most people grow feminized Autos. U will not have guarantees for seeds right?
So my plan is how to create a regular Landrace with autoflowers:
- grow reg photo X auto under veg conditions and move out not autoflowering plants from this project (which will be 75% i think. Lots of digging. )
- remove every male auto exept 1
Let nature do its thing and keep the strongest reg autos for a multi year population and keep the best seeds, maybe introduce other autoflowers to this landrace simulation. A female auto can grow bigger than the box but a male will be cut to stay within and not spread the pollen too much. Spraying water regularly in case should limit the danger potential to a chillout level. Numbers are irrelevant for this grow, the only goal is to create a selfsustaining population of healthy, delicious and extremely easy to grow and reproducable because (potentially) seeding plants. Like people did with apples in grandmas times.

Riddle_Fawkes The garden starts to drink water, automated watering system goes right up there where i cant climb up easily. Vertical 3 level 8 pot water level sensor pump system coming with T-adapter for 2nd output. For protective wall plants and edible aromatic herbs probably. As good as done. Drip lines all along the edges. Time to water and dig for dead seeds that need to be replaced.. and start giving names.. just joking

Riddle_Fawkes No more white flies since days, fast reaction is everything when if comes to pests. Found and killed only 2 here 4 total.
This F1 is far away from homogenous, variation is off charts - but thats what we want, something new.
Strange, felt like popping too many seeds but it was just enough to have less than 5 females and 1-2 males max in the end.

Riddle_Fawkes Landrace = race. Oldschool growers used to throw seeds in handfuls rather than one by one. Results in stronger plants because nature does it like that. Survival of the fittest. Just this Land is not outdoors and the evolutionary pressure is very different. Bad airflow and light quality are 2 main problems in indoor growing. These are the 2 main limiting factors here, too.
Of course, there is more light and air over their heads so as soon as a winner plant pushes through, it can show if it is more than just strong.
First signs of flower should appear soon. I dont know if i planted enough seeds to get even one good auto pheno male and female each, and i popped a decent amount. Gonna be tricky selecting them.
