Compared to my previous grows in Light Mix, her development is noticeably slower. My guess is that she’s currently investing most of her energy into establishing a strong root system within the active living soil. Once those roots are fully settled, I expect the growth above ground to really take off. 🌎. For now, the goal is simply to trust the process and avoid over-managing the grow. 😊 Besides refilling the humidifier and the Blumat water reservoir, I’m doing absolutely nothing. No nutrients, no additives—just letting nature do the work. Tower84 🇬🇧🌱 Week 3 | Cherry Limeade by Doja 🍒🍋 This week didn’t quite go as I had hoped. The little Cherry Limeade is still growing very slowly and is currently only about 4 cm tall. 🌱 I was away on business for five days and had to leave the bed completely on its own. When I returned, the cover crop had absolutely exploded 🌿💥 and completely overgrown the seedling. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to become that vigorous. After trimming it back, the Cherry Limeade finally had access to light and airflow again. I’m also still struggling a bit with dialing in the Blumat irrigation system. It works in principle, but finding the perfect balance with four Maxi drippers in a 130-liter living soil bed is proving to be more challenging than expected. With such a small seedling, water demand changes constantly, while the cover crop can temporarily consume much more water than the cannabis plant itself. 💧 Today the plant also received its first watering with Almicanna Veg Compost Tea 🍵. Despite the slow start, I’m giving Cherry Limeade every chance to succeed. I’ll be away almost every week over the coming weeks, so the system needs to be able to take care of itself. Either the plant establishes itself under these conditions—or it doesn’t. That’s exactly what I want to learn from this experiment. If this run doesn’t turn out as planned, I’ll start a new attempt this autumn with an improved setup and everything I’ve learned from this grow. Tower84 🇬🇧 Week 4 🌱 | Cherry Limeade 🍒🍋 Cherry Limeade is finally starting to pick up some speed! 🙌 She has now reached about 8 cm in height, and growth is becoming noticeably more vigorous. However, she’s still much smaller than expected for her age. Looking back, I believe directly germinating the seed in a nutrient-rich Living Soil wasn’t the best choice. The young root system probably had to spend a lot of energy establishing itself in such an active soil before visible top growth could really take off. 🌱 To solve this, I’ve already bought the Bottomless Pots from Almicanna for my next run. My plan is to start the seedlings in BioBizz Light Mix inside these pots, which will sit directly on top of the Living Soil bed. Once the roots are strong enough, they’ll naturally grow through the open bottom into the living soil below. I’m really looking forward to comparing the results. 🔬 I’m still dialing in my Blumat irrigation system. The constantly growing and regularly trimmed cover crop changes the water consumption all the time, making it surprisingly difficult to keep the ideal 100 mbar soil tension consistently. Right now the soil moisture fluctuates between 50 and 150 mbar, but that’s part of learning how this new Living Soil system behaves. I’m confident I’ll get the hang of it over time. 💧🌾 Despite the slow start, I’m feeling much more optimistic now. The plant looks healthier every day and has finally started growing consistently. Tower84 🇬🇧 Week 4 Vegetative 🌱 | Cherry Limeade 🍒🍋 This week Cherry Limeade finally gave me a reason to smile. 🙌 She grew from 8 cm to 21 cm in just one week, which is a clear sign that the root system is finally starting to establish itself in the Living Soil. 💚 However, I’m still convinced that the slow start was caused by direct germination in a very nutrient-rich Living Soil. Looking back, it was probably a bit too much for such a young seedling. I believe the roots needed a long time to adapt to the highly active soil before the plant could really focus on above-ground growth. For my next run I’ll definitely use Almicanna Bottomless Pots filled with BioBizz Light Mix, allowing the seedlings to establish themselves in a gentler medium before growing down into the Living Soil bed. 🌱 Unfortunately, I was away on a business trip for three days this week. During that time, my Blumat irrigation system settled at around 50 mbar, leaving the root zone wetter than intended. This may explain the slight chlorosis and deformation that appeared on the newest growth. I’ve now adjusted the environment and increased the VPD to around 1 kPa. From here on, I’ll mainly watch how the new growth develops. 🌿 Another challenge has been fungus gnats. Their numbers have increased slightly, so today I’ll be applying BTI for the first time through the irrigation system. Hopefully this will control the larvae without disrupting the biology of the Living Soil. My cover crop has also become a little too successful. 😅 It now occupies a lot of space and noticeably affects the bed’s water consumption. Over the next few days I’ll gradually cut it back heavily and remove most of it before flowering, giving Cherry Limeade more space, light and helping the Blumat system become more stable. 🌾✂️ Now I’m facing my next decision: Topping or just LST? 🤔 I originally planned to top her tomorrow, but after the slow start I’m wondering if it would be better to give her a little more time and only use low stress training for now. Tower84 🇬🇧 GrowDiaries – Weekly Update This week my Cherry Limeade has developed amazingly well 🌱. It honestly feels like someone flipped a switch. The growth is now strong and steady, the plant looks very healthy, and there are no signs of nutrient deficiencies or the taco-shaped leaves I had before 💚. I topped her on Sunday ✂️ and then left her completely alone until Thursday to allow her to recover. Since then, I have started low stress training. Using wire anchors, I gently pull the branches outward to create a wider and more even plant structure 🌿. I adjust the position of the wire anchors every day to make sure all shoots receive optimal light exposure ☀️. I finally found the perfect setting for my four Maxi Blumat drippers 💧. The system now keeps the soil suction tension consistently between 90 and 100 mbar, exactly where I want it. This gives me a lot of confidence – especially because I will be away on a four-day business trip next week. Without a properly dialed-in Blumat system, this would have been a real problem. Now I can leave home completely relaxed 😌. The cover crop is slowly disappearing as well 🌾. I am cutting it back almost every day so that most of it will be gone before I start flowering. Little by little, I am winning this battle 💪. The same goes for the fungus gnats ?. Yesterday I released 6,000 Hypoaspis miles into the bed and, in the evening just before lights out, I watered in 3 million SF nematodes. In one week, I will repeat the treatment with another 3 million SF nematodes. Hopefully, this will finally bring the fungus gnats under control 🎯. Apart from training, I will leave the plant alone and let her grow naturally 🌱. I will not use any compost tea or ferments for now, because the Living Soil should already contain more than enough nutrients 🌍. She is growing vigorously, looks extremely healthy, and is gradually forming exactly the plant structure I was aiming for 💚. I intentionally kept all environmental parameters unchanged compared to last week. Instead, my focus was entirely on training. Using a SCROG net and additional wire anchors, I continued pulling the branches down to create a flat and even canopy 🌿. Only small daily adjustments were necessary, but consistency is what makes the difference in the long run. I also kept the light intensity fairly moderate at around 430 PPFD (DLI 28) ☀️. Somehow I had the feeling that, with the current summer temperatures, increasing the light wouldn’t necessarily benefit the plant. Experience has taught me that sometimes less is more—and so far, she seems to agree 😊. Because I’ll be on vacation in October, I’ve decided to send her into flower today 🌸. I switched the light schedule to 12/12, increased the SANlight to Level 4, and tomorrow I’ll move it up to Level 5 so the DLI starts at around 25 despite receiving only 12 hours of light. From there, I’ll gradually increase the light intensity week by week according to my usual schedule 📈. Last week I was away on a four-day business trip, and once again the Blumat system proved why I trust it so much 💧. It maintained an average soil suction tension of around 90 mbar completely on its own, so I didn’t have to worry at all. Starting next week, I’ll increase the target to around 120 mbar, allowing the Living Soil to run slightly drier throughout flowering. Tower84 🇬🇧 GrowDiaries – Weekly Update The Cherry Limeade has developed exceptionally well during her first week after switching to 12/12 🌱. She seems to have been waiting for exactly these conditions and has absolutely exploded in growth 🚀. She is already filling a large part of my 60 cm tent and is developing a really nice, even structure 💚. Once again, I was away on a four-day business trip this week. During my absence, the Blumat system kept the soil moisture stable at around 50 mbar 💧. The plant obviously likes these conditions very much, because despite me being away, she put on a lot of growth and mass 🌿. Next week I’ll be home much more often, so I’ll be able to tuck the shoots under the SCROG net every day 🕸️. At the moment, I have trained the plant down to around 32 cm in height. The stretch is progressing exactly as I hoped, and I suspect that it will really start taking off next week 📈. I’m extremely happy with the development so far. The plant looks completely healthy and I can’t see any signs of deficiencies whatsoever 💚. Her response to the switch to 12/12 has been excellent. As of today, I’ve removed the humidifier from the room and increased the VPD to 1.1 kPa 💨. At the same time, I’m now trying to gradually dial the Blumat system in to around 120 mbar. However, I deliberately didn’t change anything before last week’s trip—I didn’t want to mess with a perfectly functioning setup right before being away for four days 😅. Yesterday I also started an Almicanna Flower Compost Tea 🌸. After 24 hours of brewing, I added some molasses and am now letting it brew for another 24 hours 🫧. The Cherry Limeade will get her first serving of Flower Compost Tea for this phase tomorrow 🌱. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the start of flowering. Tower84 🇬🇧 Cherry Limeade – Weekly Update The Cherry Limeade by Doja absolutely exploded in stretch this week 🚀. She went from 32 cm to 58 cm in just one week 🌱. Despite the massive growth spurt, she remains perfectly healthy and I still can’t see any signs of deficiencies whatsoever 💚. The soil moisture is interesting at the moment. It averaged around 40 mbar, even though I’ve been turning the Blumat drippers down by one arrow every day 💧. My target is actually around 120 mbar, but the plant’s water consumption has increased significantly due to the intense stretch. As long as the plant continues to grow this well and stays healthy, I don’t want to force the system into a specific value at all costs. After all: Never change a running system 😄. Thanks to the much drier outdoor conditions, I’m still able to run the setup without a dehumidifier 🌬️. The average VPD is currently around 1.2 kPa, which I’m very happy with. The stretch is definitely going strong right now 📈. Because of the limited height of the tent, I’m hoping it will slow down somewhat over the coming week. To provide enough light and encourage the plant to put more energy into flower development rather than continued vertical growth, I’ve increased the light intensity to 880 PPFD / DLI 38 ☀️. The SANlight EVO 3 is now running at Level 6 with a 40 cm distance. Now I’m really curious to see what happens next week. Tower84 🇬🇧 Cherry Limeade from Doja – Weekly Update The Cherry Limeade by Doja is looking really good 🌱. The canopy now covers most of the 60 × 60 cm tent quite nicely, although there are still a few small gaps here and there 🌿. Overall, I’m very happy with the structure. On day 20, I had to do the slightly painful part ✂️. I lollipopped the plant and removed all leaves and flowers that were sitting in the shade. Instead of throwing the plant material away, I added it straight back to the bed as mulch ♻️. I have to admit that heavy defoliation always hurts a little because the plant suddenly looks like it has lost half of its mass 😅. But this time I’m clearly going for quality over quantity 🎯. My goal is to produce mainly top buds that receive plenty of direct light throughout flowering ☀️. I also discovered something interesting with the tensiometer this week 💧. The pressure gauge seems to be sticking slightly. A gentle tap on the gauge makes the needle move again and reveals a different reading. Looking back, I probably didn’t have excessively high soil moisture at all – the plant has been developing perfectly 🌱. The problem was simply that the tensiometer was occasionally giving me inaccurate readings. Fortunately, I also relied on the finger test and, most importantly, on how the plant itself was developing 👆🌿. Because of that, everything worked out despite the faulty readings. I have now removed the tensiometer and refilled it completely with water 💦. However, I still need to gently tap the gauge to get the needle moving reliably. My target remains around 120 mbar soil suction tension throughout flowering. Today I also gave the plant 3.5 liters of Almicanna Flower Compost Tea 🌸. The tea had been actively aerated and brewed for a full 48 hours before being applied 🫧🌱. Now it’s time to sit back and watch the Cherry Limeade build those buds 😎. Die Blütenentwicklung schreitet sichtbar voran, die Pflanze ist kerngesund und ihr Stoffwechsel läuft aktuell auf Hochtouren 💚. Nach dem Lollipoppen ist der Wasserverbrauch zunächst erwartungsgemäß etwas zurückgegangen 💧. Nach ungefähr vier Tagen hat sie dann aber wieder deutlich zugelegt und mittlerweile trinkt die Cherry Limeade etwa 3 Liter pro Tag 🚰. Gleichzeitig beginnen die Buds langsam sichtbar anzuschwellen 🌸 – genau das, worauf ich gewartet habe. Mängel oder Krankheiten sind weiterhin keine zu erkennen 👌. After the lollipopping, her water consumption understandably dropped for a while 💧. After about four days, however, it increased significantly again, and she is now drinking around 3 liters per day 🚰. At the same time, the buds are slowly starting to swell 🌸 – exactly what I’ve been waiting for. There are still absolutely no signs of nutrient deficiencies or disease 👌. The only small imperfection is unfortunately still visible: I accidentally broke one of the main buds on the left side while scrogging last week 😬. That’s why there’s a small gap at the front left, but apart from that, she handled the setback extremely well. Technically, there isn’t really much I need to do at the moment 😎. Still, I find myself checking on my little beauty several times a day, just to make sure she’s doing well ❤️. This is the stage where you simply want to watch every little change. The smell is also getting noticeably stronger 👃. Right now she has a wonderfully fresh, zesty lime aroma – exactly what I was hoping for from this Cherry Limeade. I haven’t changed any of the environmental parameters this week ⚙️. Some of the main buds are now receiving slightly less than 1000 PPFD, while the average light intensity remains around 900 PPFD ☀️. As long as the plant continues to look this healthy and vigorous, I don’t see any reason to change the setup right now. So for now, there’s really only one thing left to do: sit back, enjoy the process, and watch those buds swell 🌸👀. Tower84 🇬🇧 Cherry Limeade – Doja The Cherry Limeade by Doja continues to develop exceptionally well 🌱. The buds are noticeably putting on weight and becoming larger and denser with every week 🌸. At the same time, the aroma is getting stronger and stronger 👃. The terpene profile is currently very interesting, although unfortunately not quite what I was hoping for. She smells zesty, limey and slightly sour, with a herbal note 🍋‍🌿. What is completely missing so far, however, is any hint of cherry or sweet creaminess 🍒. I’m really hoping these aromas will develop later in flower, but at this point I have my doubts 🤔. Maybe she’ll still surprise me – there are still a few weeks to go. One thing I have absolutely no doubts about is the potency that already seems to be developing 🔥. When I gently rub one of the sugar leaves on a small lower bud, my fingers already get very sticky 😄. And we still have several weeks of flowering ahead. Resin production is clearly running at full speed ✨. Apart from that, the grow is basically running on autopilot 🤖. I’m now slightly increasing the VPD from 1.2 to 1.3 kPa, while keeping the light intensity at an average of 900 PPFD ☀️. I’ve also increased the airflow slightly and both the upper and lower fans are now running at Level 6 💨. I’m still a little puzzled by the tensiometer, though 🤔. Last week I repositioned it according to the manufacturer’s instructions and then recalibrated the four Blumat drippers accordingly 💧. After a few days, however, the tensiometer is now showing drier conditions than I would expect based on the finger test and the actual water consumption. I’ve therefore monitored the plant’s water consumption over several days and I’m currently averaging around 1.83 liters per day 🚰. For a plant of this size, that seems quite realistic to me. So for now, I’m trusting my gut feeling and leaving the settings as they are 🌱. Does anyone have an idea why the tensiometer could be showing drier conditions even though the finger test and water consumption suggest otherwise? 🤔 After this grow, I’ll definitely take some time to think about how I can further optimize the irrigation system in my Living Soil bed 🛠️. Tower84 Cherry Limeade – Weekly Update 🌱 The Cherry Limeade by Doja is continuing to develop really well 🌸. The buds are getting bigger every week and at the same time increasingly frosty ❄️. I’m very happy with the overall development at this point. If everything continues like this, I expect the harvest to be around three to four weeks away – although there is still plenty of time for things to change. Today I removed a few more small lower buds that were barely receiving any light anymore ✂️. I was actually quite surprised by how densely packed these little buds already were. They were already very compact, and touching them left my fingers extremely sticky 😄. The smell was also very pronounced and strongly lemony 🍋. Resin production definitely seems to be ramping up nicely ✨. What is still missing, however, is the cherry or berry aroma I was hoping for 🍒?. At the moment, the aroma is mainly fresh and lemony. I’m really hoping something develops towards cherry or berries during the final weeks – keep your fingers crossed for me 🤞. I’ve pretty much given up on the tensiometer at this point. The readings simply aren’t reliable enough for me, so I’m now managing irrigation purely based on the plant’s actual water consumption 💧. That has remained very stable at around 1.8 liters per day. This gives me a very useful practical reference point, and I currently see no reason to change anything. I’m also keeping all the other parameters exactly the same, because I’m very happy with how the plant is developing 🌱. The only thing I’d like to lower slightly is the temperature. The weather has still been quite warm over the last few days, and being under the roof combined with the dehumidifier running makes the tent fairly warm. At the moment, I’m sitting at around 27 °C with the LED on 🌡️. Once the weather gets cooler over the next few weeks, this should naturally come down again. Today I’m also giving her another 3 liters of Almicanna Flower Compost Tea 🌸. I brewed it for 48 hours and will now apply it to the bed. Other than that, it’s still mostly about keeping interventions to a minimum, observing, and letting the plant do her thing 😎🌱. Tower84 Cherry Limeade – Weekly Update 🌱 The Cherry Limeade is slowly entering the final stage of flowering. The first leaves are already starting to show some autumn-like colors 🍂, while the buds continue to produce plenty of resin and are extremely sticky 🌸. Overall, I’m still happy with the development of the flowers, but there is one thing that is starting to annoy me a little: the buds are increasingly developing foxtails. I suspect that the high temperatures are at least partly responsible for this 🌡️. The Hydrone 5 from AC Infinity generates a noticeable amount of heat while running. The VPD itself is actually being controlled very well by the AI controller and the Hydrone 5, but this is also where I see a weakness in the system. When the product was originally launched, I don’t think AC Infinity communicated clearly enough how much additional heat the dehumidifier can add to the tent under certain conditions. AC Infinity has since updated the product description accordingly, but this was not communicated that way when I purchased the unit. Honestly, that does annoy me a little. When the outdoor air has a high relative humidity, the Hydrone 5 has to work harder. Even with the exhaust fan being controlled accordingly, I can still see temperatures of around 29 °C inside the tent because the heat generated by the dehumidifier partly offsets the cooling effect of the exhaust 🌡️. For this reason, I now see the Hydrone 5 as more of a winter solution when used as the sole dehumidification method. During winter, lower ambient temperatures make the additional heat much less of an issue. I’m not particularly worried about mold under the current conditions, but foxtailing during late flower is obviously not something I want to encourage 😅. So over the next few days I’ll reduce the light intensity from 900 to around 800 PPFD and see how the buds respond 💡. Hopefully this will take some stress out of the system. I’m also a little disappointed with the aroma at this point. Unfortunately, no real cherry aroma has developed so far 🍒. The buds are extremely sticky, but compared with my Mentha de Croco, the aroma isn’t really blowing me away. Overall, the terpene profile currently seems a little weak. Whether this is mainly genetic or whether the high temperatures are suppressing some of the aroma is something I don’t want to judge conclusively yet. I’ll definitely wait until the end of flowering, and preferably until after drying and curing, before making my final assessment 🧐.
