Moved outdoors after three weeks in the tent, and doing well!
Seriously stretching; massive spaces in between nodes. I guess that is the sativa coming out?
Gave her a top and she responded well. Also doing some LST which her long branches are making nice and simple.
Planning to let her grow all summer long...should be fun!
She is loving the great outdoors - growing like crazy.
Trying to keep topping and LSTing, because at this rate she will be way too big for my backyard by September/October!
Topped in a couple of areas, and took the tops as clones. Domed two of them and all 4 will be outside. Used jiffy pods and a gel/powder combo.
We will see if they root!
OK week - seems like her explosive growth has slowed down, and there have been a few bottom fan leaves with mottled yellow/brown spots.
Thinking CalMag so will have to find some soon and add it in. Otherwise, the topped portions have done well and her shape is pretty sweet!
This plant is growing like a champ. Has now been topped 3 times! So there are 8 top colas...I think that will be the last of my topping.
(I tried to grow clones from the last round of topping - they seem to be surviving but not growing really yet. Also took the latest tops as clones so hoping they can do a bit better as they are a little bigger). A few signs of pistils...but she is going to be one big gal by the time she flowers.
No nutes this week, will give her some Muskie 5-1-1 again at next watering.
Good week! It has been hot, and she is getting some yellowed bottom leaves, which I attribute to the heat and the pot warming too much (though not sure). Otherwise good growth again - her 8 top branches are awesome. No sign of any flowers yet...another few weeks I think.
Good week! She is really thriving. Growing quickly and starting to get a bit bushier.
Would really like to get her out of that pot, she could definitely use some room to stretch down there. Also the root zone is getting crazy hot during the days which can't be good.
Plus I have had to water at least once a day which is a pain. Fed with 5-1-1 again, seems to have great effect in veg.
Looking forward to flower!
She keeps on going! No sign of flower yet, but lots of growth coming on the lower branches which is great.
I took a couple of clones (from the topping) a few weeks ago, and have now moved them into their own pots.
Hoping flowering starts soon for the big lady!
Still growing well! She is very bushy and healthy looking. Did a bit of defoliation in the lower branches, but otherwise just leaving her be!
Going to stake the plant in the near future to help support her through flower - I imagine (hope!) that she will have some pretty damn heavy branches in a couple months 👌
Flowering has begun! Great news.
She is looking good, and is super thick with budsites on the upper branches.
I defoliated the lower 14 inches or so of each stalk, and then a couple handfulls of water leaves from the mid section in the interior, to try and improve airflow.
Will water this week and switch to an organic bloom nutrient/supplement next week!
Clones are doing very well too and continue to grow/and stretch (they also have started to flower).
She looks great. Insane amount of budsites up the tops of the branches - some of these colas are going to be about a foot and a half long!
Fed with Iguana Juice Bloom - finally managed to find an organic bloom nutrient nearby, hallelujah.
One of the branches was laying on the deck, looks like a racoon got in there and broke one. Luckily it wasn't snapped and I have tied it back up.
Going to find some bamboo branches soon to support the (hopefully) heavy flowers in future.
Lots of rain this week which I have not enjoyed - trying to get this plant to dry out for a little while.
Getting a significant amount of yellowing on fan leaves. I’ve chopped a whole lot of them, but there are still quite a few. Not sure why....
Top/newer leaves all look good still.
Hoping for a little more sun and warmth this week, need September to brighten up a bit and help me out.
Tough week - tonnes of yellowing and browning leaves. It had rained alot so I didn’t water or feed to try and dry out the rootzone - but I think it has now gone through all nutrients in the soil and needs regular feedings. The entire pot is roots. I think the yellowing was nutrient deficiencies from a week + without food. Gave it a feed yesterday with Iguana Juice and it looked much better just 24 hrs later. I hope that’s the case! Will keep up with the feeding now every few days. Hope she can last these last 3-4 weeks!! Smells great.
Was away for about ten days, and came back to a glorious plant! She is blooming well! Buds are fattening up, and the smell is fantastic - super citrusy/strawberry.
The yellowing has slowed down. Gave her a big defoliation for the final stretch to try and ensure good air movement and keep that budrot away.
Clones are looking really good too with lots of big buds. Not sure how long left to go....could probably be harvested as of now in a pinch, but would like to get at least another week or two in.
The weather will dictate!
Solid week - fair amount of rain and cold temperatures, but managed to bring them indoors during the cold/wet nights.
Forecast is for lots of sun this week, which should be a big help in this final stretch. She smells amazing. Trichomes are starting to look interesting...
Planning to chop half at the end of the week, and leave the other half for another week or two. (Want to ensure I get some crop in case of budrot etc).
Got some pretty significant aphids going on, but not much I can do at this stage so just chopping leaves that are super infested and that's about it.
Hoping the next 1-2 weeks finish off strong!!
Finally pulled the trigger on harvesting. What a great run! She was a great plant, super fun to grow and really quite easy. Some nutrient issues and then aphids near the end of flower, but nothing that caused too much concern. The buds turned out beautiful and big and dense. Love this strain - the smell is really unique, super strawberryery! Buds look great and crystally and sticky. Yield seems to be pretty good - my guess is between 6-10 ozs. Will confirm after dry. Drying now, will aim to cure for at least a week before giving it a test (I still have some of my indoor Strawberry Cough harvest kicking around so I am OK there). Will update with the smoke report, weight, and some pics of the finished buds!!!
Also - my two clones are doing great, but about a week or two behind in flower. Should be good to harvest soon.
Clones are coming along! Not quite there as you can see by the trichomes (I’d say 90% cloudy, 8% clear, and 2% amber). Interesting how far behind they are from the mother plant (at this rate, likely a full 3 weeks from her harvest).
Anyway they smell great and the buds look good. Hope the purples keep coming out...
So that’s a tiny pot for the medium/large plant you’ve grown in it- great job by the way, it’s beautiful! But usually when you see a generalized, all over yellowing such as what you’ve got- it’s a nutrient deficiency. She needs food and a bigger pot next time. When growing outdoors you can use anything from 10-25 gallon containers with great success! Bigger pot= bigger root zone expansion= bigger plants. You can always top/train them to keep them short but you should be able to harvest half a pound/pound of high quality herb from each plant. Provided that the weather cooperates. Since she’s probably been flushed out with the heavy rains you’ve had recently, consider a heavier feeding routine maybe even adding in a bloom booster for extra Potassium/Phosphorus. Overall, uv done a solid job with ur strawberry beauty and i’m wishing u all the best in weather. Hopefully it goes ur way and u can harvest this plant at peak ripeness/potency! Happy growing!
@GeorgeSmiley, always willing to help out my fellow Canadian grow buddies! We’re all in the same boat dealing with the lovely Canadian fall weather, hoping my outdoor ladies will make it to harvest on time too.
Looking good Mr Smiley. Looks to be good airflow though em which should prevent the bud rot in the fall. When will they turn around your part of the country?
@sKitzO, Thanks! I'm not too sure, but I have heard late Aug. I'm starting to see more pistils emerge, hoping its a sign that flower is coming! How about you?
Looking really good. You are rocking it. Those buds are wonderful, and nice and big. Your techniques have produced much better Strawberry Coughs than I. Looking forward to your harvest pics and review.
Everything is looking good sir. Don’t stress about the leaves! Your plant should be using its nitrogen storage, while you should not be feeding nitrogen at this point, so the yellowing is normal and expected. You want the plant naturally using up resources and dying with harvest. Considering this plant has only 2-3 weeks I would consider no more food and just water here on out. Too much food late in flower and it will influence the cure and taste.
If you were to give any more food make sure to go very light, cut it off after this last time, and no nitrogen!
Also, very well done with the small single bud clones, brilliant move.
Nice looking grow.
I see the different comments regarding feeding. IMHO, I would feed right up until a week from chop. Late flower is when the buds bulk up and put on the size. I did this before, stopped feeding early and harvest was reduced. A week is long enough to flush. If you like research good info on growweedeasy.com.
This is for what it's worth, just my opinion and I have been growing for les than a year.
Happy growing!
