after looking around the internet for some weeks i finally determined which strains fitted my interest. One of them is the new and highly anticipated Gorilla Breath from Humboldt Seed Organisation. The Gorilla Breath is a cross breed between the legendary GG #4 and OGKB and have 80% indica and 20% sativa genetics. the plans can have a yield of 2500-3000 grams with a THC potential of 27% and can become 3-4 meters tall. to stay realistic i am aiming for 200 grams a plant but anything above that is always welcome. So let's start growing.

after just one week the plants look healthy and have come up nicely. i try not to over water them as they won't need that much water in this stage. i have already been thinking about my outside plans. whether or not to use a cage system around the plant and which types of soil i am going to use. But first, let's keep an eye on them and make sure they survive to that point.

no crazy news for this week. the plants are growing slowly as the sun isn't that strong yet in this time of the year.

slow but steady growth. compared to the other plants, these Gorilla Breath's grow the most compact which is seen in it's genetics. 80% indica.

as the plants are growing i'm planning to give them their first cuts. i'm using the Fuck I Missed (FIM) technique first, as this can result in 4-8 new main stems.

so just a week after the FIM they are doing great. The cuts seem to be done as intended and they are Both growing 6 mains now, 4 at the top and 2 at a branch below. today i also transplanted the plants into the ground outdoor. i bought soil which i mixed up with perlite and got some caging and put these around the plants.

so the girls have been outside for their first week now and as they are progressing they have developed some bleached type leaves. this could possibly be because of transplantation stress or by not being used to the amount and intensity of light they are getting at the moment.

so luckily the plants seem to have recovered already. the whitening on the leaves remains but isn't evolving on other or new growth. as they are getting used to their new soil, enviroment and plenty of space i expect them to grote explosively the upcoming weeks.

they are bloooowing up. At first sight i didn't notice that big of a change in the garden, but after comparing the pictures it was clearly visible. despite they have not been growing that much lateral due to the mainlining there is a visible difference horizontally.

my garden is just booming with growth, i am really proud of the gorilla breath #1 since she is growing like a really nice bush. the other gorilla breath #2 isn't quite as bushy yet but i am still trying to shape her. apart from that are the stocks of the plants getting thicker by the day and during the upcoming weeks i expect to see them thriving in this weather.

so the weather hasn't been the best. the temperatures were ok but it was windy, it rained a lot and it was clouded. they are not growing as hard as before so i think they are making ready to start flowering. as adviced by larimar i will be using Bamboo sticks to support my plants. i might even get some nets but i will have to find good ones first. as an update on a couple of weeks ago i adres pictures of all the super cropped stems. they were done in three plants : gorilla breath #2 , Sugar breath #1 & Sugar breath #2. it already is an more even canopy and hopefully i can run a test, i would like to see if the super cropping really stimulates in giving bigger flowers. so i have my control group which are the left over stems and the super cropped stems.

the stretch has begun. in just 9 days the flowers are gonna start to form. i've been trying to give the plants more support. i placed a bunch of Bamboo through the cages to support the branches and placed a net on the smallest plant. ( the net's holes were too small, so i cut it up. only problem, since i can't reach the other plants that well i can't do the same for them. yet.) i'm working on it, i haven't had that much of time lately to work on the plants and the weather isn't helping either. most of the plants reached the height of 180 centimeters and maybe 190 before flowering. curious how big they will become when it all starts.

in about 3 days according to the textbook the flowers will start to form (26th of August in my region) and i am really seeing more and more pistils showing up in the plants. when looking at the grow rates, i'm having the Idea that this is the first stretch week + the forming of a lot of pistils. next week would be the first week of flowering / stretch even tho i have had the feeling this had already commenced. the plants are ready to explode and begin giving a stronger aroma, can't wait for the smell and cola's during flowering. i shot some photo's this morning, but didn't have that much time. Today i went on vacation for a week, so the next update will be uploaded around the 2nd of September.

yeah! flowering has officially begun. three of the plants show strong Signs of flowering, these are the gorilla breath #1, gorilla breath #2 and the Sapphire scout. Both of the Sugar breath's tend to take a little longer as they do not show that much signs yet. the Sugar breath #2 has had An explosive growth week and is really showing her stretch. most plants are above the 200 cm mark, they have crushed all my expectations if i look back at last year when i was just starting and experimenting a lot. last week i got a lot of tips and tricks from some awesome growers on this platform. they shared a lot i didn't knew before which i'm trying to implement to my grow. i bought a jar of dark molasses which i will be using throughout the watering of the plants. i'll be using 1,5-2 spoons on 5 Liters of water. they will stimulate the soil microbes and give me the nutes my plants began missing during the last weeks. i haven't add that much photo's this time, do you like it like this or should i add more? and what kind of photo's? the plants from left to right in the picture and the current height of the plants are: gorilla breath 1#: 212 cm gorilla breath 2#: 208 cm Sapphire scout: 198 cm Sugar breath 1#: 195 cm Sugar breath 2#: 180 cm

the bud formation is ridiculous. they are getting so damn frosty and smell amazing. the buds are already bigger than last year when i was still experimenting a lot. i'm really checking the plants daily for budrot and other pests or problems but still not a thing. let's keep it like this. some branches are beginning to hang a little bit so i'm going to support them a bit more. i have the feeling that the plants really enjoy the molasses additive to the soil since i have not been seeing that much yellow leaves turn up lately.

okay after a whole week with rain, and one more week go rain to goi just have to face it, budrot and stemrot have been found. i added pics of the stemrot i found on the Sapphire scout, took away the branch and got rid of the whole infected area. the bud with budrot had been cut off, it was at a very very early age, Just a tiny spec. Because of what i found i took pictures of the trichomes. looks milky to me but today week 7 ended and 8 began so i'm skeptic in chopping them down, even tho i don't want to lose it all due to botrytis. i'm planning to chop down the 2 gorilla breath's and the Sapphire scout in about 2 weeks, Because the week after i'm on vacation and then they are right in the 3 week zone of being good to harvest. today i'm setting up a sort of roof for them. update : the roof unfortunately isn't going to happen due to not having high enough attachment points. soooo.. i would like to kindly ask to have a look at the close ups from the trichomes and guess if they are in the harvestable zone or not. because i'm not sure.

disaster struck.. during a heavy storm the cage of the gorilla breath #1 which was the best looking plant collapsed. the stem didn't break but every attempt to place it back failed. i ended up using rope attached to a pole and then to the cage to make it kinda better. unfortunately due to the fact that the plant laid down on his side for a couple days, i found multiple spots of budrot. so... the plan is to chop her down tomorrow. the trichomes aren't quite ready yet but i guess i'll have to save what's left. the other plants are hanging more by the day as they are really bulking up, i had planned to chop down the gorilla breath's and the Sapphire scout next friday on the 11th of october. then they'll have finshed their 9th week of flowering but the gorilla breath #1 is probably going down tomorrow, what do you think? should i do it tomorrow or Just wait another week and keep checking daily

no signs of pests during the grow. only one time i had ants trying to infest one plant but easily got rid of them by using cinnamon around the stem. she grows easy and is fun to train, you don't have to be an expert. in the late flowering i got some budrot in both plants and stalled the harvest by inspecting and cutting it away daily, haven't lost a lot due to it. i would recommend this strain as she is a high trichome producer, big yielder and easy to grow plant that gives nice buds with a good smell and greath high. she is a strain that makes you talkative, giggly and euphoric and is surely gonna give you a good sleep. be sure to go easy on her as she is a strong breed. an amazing strain to grow. she creates colourfull purple buds filled with trichomes that is really good for the chilling occasions, be sure not to have to go somewhere as she will last long and prepare for a joyfull evening with lots of laughing and good talks. i'll post more pictures after the drying process!
