PapaTerps Shake Back - Compound Genetics
SUMMER is upon us and grows that were started around March have been harvested - so that means I have an empty tent or two! So I've decided to start another grow for this Summer and into Autumn.
I've selected the strain Shake Back by Compound Genetics for this grow, I've chosen her for her Apples & Banana's genetics and her intriguing Apple and Diesel flavours! She has a lot of cookies genetics, so I'm also interested to see if some of that comes out! I will be vegging her for about 5 weeks and I will be using a mixture of growing techniques which I have used before, including topping with some low stress training. You're all more than welcome to follow along, I will try to detail my process without overloading each week with too much Information!
Day 1 (20/06)
- Seed dropped into a small metal screw tin filled with RO Tap water pH'd to 6.3 and stored in a dark warm room - she will remain here until the seed pops and a taproot appears; I will check the progress of the seed every ~12 hours.
Day 4
- The seed popped and a taproot has appeared, so I've filled a small 0.3L paper starter pot with some All-Mix and dropped the seed in!
Day 6
- The seedling has already appeared from the soil, with her two starter leaves already searching for light.
Day 11
- Nice growth over the last couple of days, she's now working on her second set of leaves, so I will consider her "in veg" once she's at that point ๐๐ป

Day 17
๐ฟ Watered every three days with 0.5L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I have upped her Root Juice nutrients to boost her root development and as of next week, I will be replacing the fish mix with the BioGrow ๐๐ป
โ๏ธ I've removed a couple of her fan leaves to improve airflow and light penetration, and I've topped her main stem to allow the lower stems to grow up and form a consistent canopy ๐ช๐ป
๐ฑ Week 3 of Veg, she recovered from her topping and has started to grow out her lower stems and supporting fan leaves! I wont be topping her more than this, so I will rely on my training skills now to get the most out of her in this 5L pot, but she already has a nice stretch on her lower stems, so this one should be easy going ๐๐ป

Day 29
๐ฟ Watered every three days with 1L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I have upped her water volume to 1L to keep up with needs, but no change to her nutrients ๐๐ป
โ๏ธ I've removed a couple of her fan leaves to improve airflow and light penetration and I've lollipopped her lowest most budsites. We're a couple of weeks out from the 12/12 switch, so from now on I'll just be letting her grow, only removing leaves when necessary.
๐ฑ Week 4&5 of Veg, she has been growing really well, stretching upwards and developing her bud sites! Last week I moved her into a new 5x5 along with all the other plants in grow, she'll have more space to grow here as well as a more powerful light ๐๐ป

Day 38
๐ฟ Watered every four days with 1.5L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've started to remove the Root juice from her feeding. As she approaches bloom, I will begin to remove certain nutrients and add others ๐๐ป
โ๏ธ This week I've added a couple of training clips to even out her canopy and I've also lollipopped her to improve airflow and to encourage her to grow up, but other than that, she's just growing!
๐ฑ Week 5-6 of Veg, she has absolutely shot up this week nearly doubling her height, so I've moved her into the corner of the tent to slow her down a bit! She's only in a 5L pot, so she'll need more feedings than if she was in a larger pot.
She started showing signs of maturity last week, but now she has pistils protruding from all her bud sites, so she is ready for the 12/12 switch. From the end of this week, we will start to gradually reduce the light schedule to go towards the 12 hour schedule๐ช๐ผ

PapaTerps Shake Back - Compound Genetics
Week 1 of Bloom (14/08)
๐ธ She has reached maturity, has thin but strong stems, a nice even canopy with no signs of deficiencies or illnesses, so she is ready for the 12 switch. I gradually reduced her light schedule over the last five days of veg, until she hit the 12 hour schedule, so today is her sixth day "in bloom". Groupings of pistils have started to appear from her budsites which is encouraging, and her growth has exploded to a point where I confuse her for one of the 20L pots, she is so big!
โ๏ธ No work on her this week, I don't usually defoliate or train my girls during the first and second week of bloom because I want to reduce as much stress as possible.
๐ฟ Watered every three days this week, with 2L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've switch out her veg nutrients now for bloom nutrients; these volumes will slowly be increased over the next couple of weeks depending on her needs.

Week 2 of Bloom
๐ธ Another great week for this girl! She's as tall as the other girls in the 20+L pots and has six main stems with solid budsites on them all.
I've been seriously impressed with Compound Genetics, always performing and delivering - I'm exited to see what she produces!
โ๏ธ No work on her this week, I tend to leave my girls alone during the first and second week of bloom.
๐ง Watered every three days this week, with 2.5L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I pH'd the solution to 6.3. I've increased her bloom nutrients again, and I will continue to do that over the next few weeks to keep up with her growth requirements ๐๐ผ

Week 3 of Bloom
๐ธ She has finished her stretch and has grown incredibly well considering she's only in a 5L. She has been vigorously developing her flower and is working hard on bulking now. Her aroma has appeared too, a fresh green apple scent with a gassy undertone. The temperatures have been up and down over the last week or so, so I've added the AlgAMix into her feed to help the plant deal with the fluctuating.๐๐ป From today, all the girls will be moved into a 8x4 tent, because the 5x5 has been hard to manage.
โ๏ธ I've lollipopped her again after she finished her stretch, removing all leaves stems and budsites below the top 6 nodes from the canopy - these lower branches won't develop into anything and will more than likely cause problems later down the line. I've also removed a couple of the larger fan leaves from her center, to improve airflow and light penetration ๐ช๐ป
๐ง Watered every three days with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I pH'd the solution to 6.3. I've increased some of her nutrients and added the Alg-A-Mix as a precaution to any temperature fluctuating that might occur this time of year. The Grow and Bloom nutrients won't change much from her, but the other supplemental nutrients will fluctuate depending on her needs.

Week 4 Bloom
๐ธ She has developed her flower into closely nit stacks of budsites and has started to bulk up! Her smell is coming through now, a fresh apple sharpness followed by a spicy herbal scent - very interesting. All the girls have been moved into the Spider Farmer 8x4, because the 5x5 and 4x2 were too difficult to manage ๐๐ป
โ๏ธ I cut away some sugar leaves from the main colas, to improve light penetration and airflow, but no other work was required today๐๐ป
๐ง Watered every three days with 3L of RO water - nutrients were mixed individually, in order and then finally pH'd to 6.3. I've increased her nutrients again to keep up with her flower production.
