I sprouted 2 feminized Chocolate Mint OG seeds from HSO 😁💪🌱 these were taken from a pack of 10,the remainder I will sprout after flowering these 2 so I can learn their growth patterns (morphology) first.
I'm starting them in a Jiffy Tomato pod.(really like these for watering.u can really see how much water u are giving them.) On a heat mat at 74° for the 1st 7 days. They are under 2x Viparspectra 600w LEDs in a 2x4 tent.
At day 7 I transplanted #1 into a 1gal plastic round pot. And the 2nd plant will be going into a 7"x7"x9"
They are both in Happy Frog Soil medium by Fox Farms. The plan is 6 weeks veg then flower time!
This week we had to go on a destination wedding and had to have friends house sit. Again 😔 I hate having to do that, but this time everything went very smoothly. We didnt lose any plants lol.
Before we left I was able to get #2 transplanted in a 7x7 nursery pot. Man was she ready too!
I've decided since I am only growing 2 Choc Mknt OGs that i will be training one(both high and low stress) and this plant(#2) I will be leaving completely alone to do her own thing 🤞
Watering has went smoothly this week. Both plants only wanting water once in this 7 day stretch. I think because the transplant soil was already very moist.
#1 has rooted and already started taking off from her transplant last week.
Tent update: Our ES300 by the green sunshine company arrived this week!!! I was able to get it I'll installed before leaving. So now in my Vivosun 2x4 tent I have 1 es300. I moved the viparspectra to my large flower tent. The Choc mint seem to absolutely love this light. I started it at 70% power(its a dimmable light fixture) and am slowly moving it up over the course of a week.
Day 12: my friend reported great growth on #2!! So she is rooted as well and doing good. Also, the heat in my 2x4 is in the low 80° getting up to 85° even 90°(for a few minutes) I'm mostly running Sativas which love the heat, but I have noticed Choc Mint OG prefers it a little cooler. Her top leaves are canoeing and curling a bit. Thanks for checking out my diary! Sorry this week was lacking a bit 🤷♂️ now that I'm home they're only gonna get better!
They have settled in good after last weeks transplant. Of the 2 plants #1 might be 1/2" taller. Keep in mind I am very new to this and dont yet have a trained Eye, but I would have to say these to are near identical. Idk the filial generation this crop, but the things ate growing like clones! Really uniform.
One noteworthy item; they aren't really fans of extreme heat. Right now I have them in my seedling tent which is currently running at 85° give or take. Sho the other strains love it. Choc mint OG is showing very mild heat stress tho
Day 22 and 23:
Going easy breezy so far!! I released some ladybugs in my tents on these Chocolate Mint OG's 21st day. So far so good lol.
Last night when I watered I gave a little real growers recharge to help with the recent transplant (it definitely gave them a boost!)
Its mid summer here in MI and 84+ temps 😬 keeping the house and tents cool has been a challenge to say the least. Thankfully all my plants are in Veg and seem to like the heat. Except the Choc Mint.they are showing mild heat stress on the top fan leaves(at least that's my guess) Tent temps have been around 86 down to 84 daytime. I lowered them so they are 24" from the lights 🤞 hopefully that helps. Other than that, no problems. And some generally happy plants! The recharge and soil combo burned them a very little bit as well.
Day 25&26
Nothing too eventful. I watered #2 on day 25. With some real growers recharge. The stuff is awesome! No nutrients needed if you have good soil!
Day 26: snip 2 fan leaves from #2(the topped one) she was getting a little bushy. And tucked the other fans under to promote some lower branch growth. #1 I'm letting roll totally natural unless I clean up lower canopy to prevent pests.
Day 27:
Plants are doing great! #1 is really getting tall and # 2 is staying short and squat because of the training. We are letting #1 go naturally. Today's update is we added some LST wire to #2 to pull down her lowest branches
My equipment and gear:
2x4 vivosun
Es300 lighting
Vivosun oscillating tent fan
Honeywell Hurricane fan
6" exhaust outside
15,000 BTU air conditioner
8,500 BTU in tent air conditioning
Some sick ass Genetics 😁
I'm watering both of these plants 1 gallon ever 2 days. They're starting to build up!! As an overview You can see from the pictures that both are dealing with a little bit of heat stress. They are in a tent where all other plans love it hot and the temperatures are in the low eighties. if you look at the top leaves you can see canoeing my guess is it's heat.
Other than that they're doing great #1 has shot up she stands nearly 12" tall now. this is the plant that we are letting grow completely natural no topping, No training. #2 on the other hand stands almost 8" tall and is much bushier, thicker, and squatter. You can see clearly in the video that we topped her and also are employing some low stress training to tie down her lower branches. both plants are beautiful and doing great! I expect #1 will be transplanted this week sometime
#1 is 15" from the light #2 is 25" from it.
Day 30: quickly measured because it looked like they grew a bit since watering Thursday. Definitely have too! #2 has easy gone up an inch. #1 is close to the limit of her pot I think.they both have asymmetrical growth 🤨 each have a branch on one side much taller than the other sides so I have begun rotating them daily to help light penetration.
Day 31:
Today I transplanted #1 she was in a 1Gal nursery pot for 31 day and starting to show some issues. I moved her into a 10x10 square nursery pot. Approximately 3gals. From here she will go into a 10Gal for flower in about 6 weeks!(I'm letting them get some size)Very faint yellowing of the leaves and needing to be watered daily. Attached is a video, showcasing her roots. Idk why, but everytime I transplant they look like the video. Everyone else seems to have an insane amount of roots.🤷♂️ #1s roots are some of the thickest I've seen tho, a regular tree! I transplanted using real growers recharge. That's about for today hope u had a great 4th!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Day 33:
Just a quick update today. Check the video I say more in that than here. #2 has nutrient burn from the recharge. These are such easy plants!! They need and want nothing! Water them once every 48 hrs or so and that's it! Im obviously going to back off on the recharge tho for then next couple waterings.✌️💚🌱
Day 35:
Finishing off the week with a transplant. We put #2 into a 10"x10" nursery pot. Works out to be 3 weeks in the small 3 weeks in the medium then she goes into a 12gal for flower. I used Azos and real growers recharge during transplant
Soil: fox farm happy frog
Light: ES300 LED
18/6 on/off
2x4 vivosun tent
6" oscillating fan, 8"tunnel fan
6" inline duct fan
Watering this week: pH 6.5
1 watering of real growers recharge
Maggie's 3-1 garden spray preventative
Days 33-35
Both ladies have been transplanted and moved into the Veg tent! If you look in the video you can see the setup.
Both are in 10.5"x10.5" square nursery pots approx 3Gal each. Both were put into happy frog soil using azos and recharge during transplant.
I have them under an optic 8+ with a cob as supplemental lighting
Day 37:
A light defoliation day today, especially for #1. I removed all the mature fan leaves that were blocking any bud sites or nodes at all. Essentially leaving the top 2 mature leaves in tact. I honestly did not want to do this! It was heart wrenching to mutilate such a beautiful naturally growing plant 🤷♂️ practicality wins in the end tho. I removed the 2 oldest lowest fan leaves from #2 as well. More for sanitation reasons. They werent8blocking anything but the uh were dragging in the dirt and starting to fade anyhow. I actually kept 1 leaf. My 1st time ever doing this. The leaf is so neat, overlapping itself.
*transplant update day 37*
In my very green opinion they look to be struggling a bit with the transplant. I like to wet my medium prior to placing the rootball in, sometimes it's great and the roots chase it. Sometimes they get a little water logged and it takes a week b4 watering. I'm thinking it's the latter in this scenario.
Day 38; #1's top fan leaves are rolling in again. I figured it was heat but the surface area doesn't get above 78° which from what I've read is fine. Maybe it's a strain issue? Looks very imdica, ma uh be is accustomed to a cooler climate?
Day 39:
I lowered #1 about a foot further from the light. She is still all curled up tho. It isn't heat. I watered them at transplant per my usual routine. 2 other plants stranded extremely bad and these 2 are acting goofy. I probably over did it that day
Day 42 and 43
In day 42 CMOG #1 needed some water. It's her 1st drink since transplant. #2 on the other hand is drinking a bit less. I also took 2 upper fan leaves off #1(I hate doing it, but gotta promote those bud sites!! Day 43nothing really to report. I videotaped myself plucking a couple lower fan leaves. I'm raising the fan a bit more above #2 to keep wind stress down.
Day 44: 🚨⛈️Emergency!!⛈️🚨
Power is out! My light cycle is as follows: on at 6pm off at 12pm.
Its 2:45am right now and the power has gone out. Which was wierd because it went out b4 the storm hit! It was fricken midday when the outtage happen!! My poor Chocolate Mint OG 😖 keeping humididty down is gonna be hard and my grow is very far from and natural light source even if they were on the same cycle as nature 🤷♂️🤦♂️ if ur reading this say a quick prayer! Thanks!!🙏✌️🌱
In the last 2 pics from this week you can see #1 leaves "tacoing" I've read this indicates heat stress, but the lights are over a foot above, great airflow and surface temp is only 78°. What's the deal? @hso do these girls like cool climates??
Hey man, just here with some unsolicited advice , just ignore it if it's not welcome 😅 looks like the very start of magnesium deficiency: you can tell by the yellowing between the veins of the leafs - add calmag to the feed or as a foliar spray two times a week the issue should stop spreading. Basically Mg related issues are pretty common when you mess with the lights ... Hope this helps ! 🚀
Day 45 power is restored and we are back at it! I moved #2 under the viparspectra lights and lowered her down a bit from it.(she was either too hot or over watered. Either way this should help by dimming the light and encouraging roots to do there thang) I'm kinda embarrassed but I stunted #2 during transplant last week. She is finally starting to grow. I just over watered everybody during transplant.
Day 46 nothing new to report. Theh are acclimated to the new pots, finally and are in cruise control. A personal observation, when I grow the rest of these seeds I'm not stopping or training. They're just too beautiful on their own!
Day 48:
Straight cruise control. I wanted to take so pics to show the pre sleep drop. They're above.😊 #1 is really growing. I expect they will be in flower shoes by week 9 and hope to flip on week 10
Day 49: tried to upload some pictures and videos today but the app wouldn't operate my camera 🤷♂️ oh well... I watered #1 today. She is officially in overdrive just growing fast!! (You get measurements tomorrow at the new week!) The good and bad of this week is #2. She definitely stunted during transplant. Probably from over watering during it. So to help promote root growth I topped her 4 main tops. And lowered her 3' from the Optic8+ It worked like a charm too!! All her leave are turning up praying again rather than being water logged and her new tops are bright green and growing! Bingo bango!
The Gear:
4x8 Tent
1 Optic8+, 2x Viparspectra 600w LEDs, 3x 50w auto cobs. 1100w true power draw approx.
Fox Farms happy frog soil
10"x10"x12" nursery pots
T6 AC Infinity fan
6" carbon filter
XL Exhale homegrown co2 bag
50pint dehumidifier
5x oscillating fans
8,000 btu portable air conditioner
...And some really great genetics!!! Made this grow possible. Thanks for checking it out! And if you give a like and a follow you won't be disappointed!!🙏🌱🌱✌️🙉
Something is annoying with this app. I cant take pics with it. Hopefully it just the app permissions. Nothing too exciting yet this week. #2 has been struggling getting adjusted to the new pot. Where #1 took off. Idk what the difference is apart from the training methods. Having said that I have topped number 2 and fimmed her lower branches hoping that a little encourage root growth.. I've also had to do a bit of re arranging. So these are now elevated the highest and under mostly 2x 50w auto cobs. They both have supplemental lighting coming from the 2 viparspectra LEDs I have near them.
Day 52:
Watered both the girls today. They're drinking fast! I water till slight runoff and they get about 2.5 gallons every 36hrs or so. Also we raised the cobs a bit up to 24" from them.
Day 53 & 54
Nothing to say for day 53. Maybe I think #1 is getting a bit rootbound. I say this only because her leaves are curled like they are over watered yet the plant is dry. And she went in a growth spurt last week.
Day 54
I picked up some soil for transplant tomorrow. I am putting #1 into a 10gal bag. #2 I haven't decided yet.
Day 55:
I transplanted #1 today into a 10gallon fabric smartpot. I mixed the bottom soil with Fox Farms Ocean Forest because we are getting ready to flip to bloom and ocean forest has more P&K and less N. And that's what we want. Hopefully she doesn't shock. I inoculated #1s roots with Azos during transplant. Applying it gently and directly onto the roots.
Day 57: #1 has been successfully transplanted to a 10gal smartpot. We used ocean forest soil and happy frog mixed at a ratio of 1:3. It has higher p&K and were getting ready for flower
Day 59: #2 is still in the 3gal pot of happy frog. She isn't showing any signs of nutrient deficiency or stress and because of size restrictions I think I'll leave her in this pot.
Day 61: watered with real growers recharge today. 1st time watering since transplanting #1. And she seemed to be okay. We have decided to start watering every day and not for run off.i cant get a good routine and sometimes they get bone dry. So to avoid that we will water a couple cups every day and allow 36hrs of drought 1x a week.
Day 63:
Pulled the girls out for a photo OP tonight 😁 also we watered #2. Then we did a mild defoliation because the new optic 8+ arrived today!!! The entire tent is set for flower!! I will be starting flower tomorrow morning and also be taking clones from these girls as well so we can get some good info logged on how the Choc mint clones too!
Week recap:
2x optic 8 LEDs for 1000 true watts
60%-70% dehumidity at all times
73°-83° tent temps all times
Happy frog soil
Real growers recharge
Ac Infinity t8 fan with carbon filter
Dehumidifier
Several oscillating fans
8,00btu portable air conditioner
Lots going down this week! I threw up a couple pictures today (day 74) I'll add more pictures and videos later on but I wanted to get this week started...
Day 70;
Nothing much to report except we got the new Optic 8+ 120°lens LED installed!! We got her put up around day 69. It's the 2nd optic weve bought and love these lights! The plants reacted immediately and we only started them at 80%veg brightness 20%bloom. Increasing 10% or so a day.
I also built a cloning station so I can take cuts tomorrow just incase we fide a unicorn!🤞
Day 71;
Officially on 12/12 light schedule now! I've decided to keep #2 in her 3gal pot. #1 gets the 10gallon smartpot. Both are doing terrific. I top dressed with .5 table spoons per gallon of soil on both plants using Papa's Perfect Poop. Made buy Michigan made mix m3 soil company. Its 5-10-2 using 100% organic fossilized bat guano
Day 72:
I defoliated both plants today. Fairly heavy but not extreme. I took all the larger fan leaves out that were blocking the lower bud sites.
I also took clones today. 2 off each plant. 1 of each clone went into an ez-cloner that uses spraying water to root them. The other 2 cuts I put in a hydrofarm cloner that submerges the stems in aerated water until rooting.
Day 73;
The girls both bounced back and are praying beautifully after the defoliation. Both loved it! I can definitely see the start of new growth already on the lowers. I'm keeping the clones on 24hr light schedule. I know its addition stress but it's easier for me.
Day 74:
Literally nothing happened today. I sat and stared at them for maybe 2hrs but that's about it tho lol
Day 75:
A bit done today. I rearranged the tent hoping to give the girls a bit more leg room(you can see #2 in the picture is growing all funny because of space) I also watered #2 tonight. I'm finding the Choc Mint OG do not like much water. I also took them out of the tent for some glamour shots. You can really see what difference 7gallons of soil can make in terms of size. #1 is nearly a foot taller. Both are starting to stretch. Curious how much that is. Put #2 out in shades place outside to harden up
Day 76:
Not much going on. I watered number 1.
Day 77:
Big day today. 3 days ago I put #2 outdoors in shade to acclimate. I know I rushed that a bit. Should have let her harden up a bit more first, but I wanted her in the ground and growing roots while she has time. Its gonna be close but I figure all my other outdoor plants are just starting to flower so why not? My tent was a little crowded so being outside will give her the best chance possible!
The Gear:
4x8 grow tent
2x Optic 8+ LEDs
AC Infinity t6 fan
8,000 btu portable air conditioner
50pint dehumidifier
Happy Frog Soil
Mother nature
1 person dedicated to the plant
This week is really a cruise control week!
Day 77,78;
Did nothing for the girls today. #1 is indoors soaking up the light. #2 has adjusted well to outdoors.
I only flipped a little over a week ago but I feel like the stretch is finished? They arent getting much taller.
Day 79:
Watered #1 today using recharge. They love this stuff!! #1 did great in transition. She didnt yellow at all. The CMOG dont like water either. I've finally got that through my head lol.
Day 80;
I checked on number 2. I should have kept her indoors and put something else out. She smells fantastic!! Waaay stronger than #1 an earthy menthol scent with hints of coffee and chocolate. #1 is starting to really bloom and show what sites will be prime. I've defoliated constantly removing leaves that block more light than they absorb.
Day 82;
Caged #2 today. Just to help give some support from the high winds we have been having lately. Also to spread her out a bit. I also gave a top dress of roots organic uprising bloom. (3-6-4)
Day 83;
Terp tea time! Idk if I should be even feeding them. They seem happy and healthy and everyone says Less is more. But I had to give some of the other plants some tea, so I figured #1 could get some too. She loved it btw. Happy happy girls!!
The Gear:

Nothing to special happened this week. It took a bit to get these past 2 weeks loaded sorry. Lost my phone!! Anyhow. Week 3 flower.
Day 84: terp tea from roots organic
Day 86: just pictures today
This week we also are focusing on getting humidity and temp a bit lower
We are also defoliating lightly at the end of the week
I'm seeing some definitely fast bud growth this week. Outdoors is keeping right up with indoors. However I didnt put it in the most rich soil and had to top dress with some roots bloom booster and papa's perfect poop.
Indoors we have zero issues. The pheno is just killing it! Stinky too. Smelling like chocolate and coffee. She is the darkest in the tent. Easily.
Indoors is the untrained pheno and there is a couple dominant colas. Like pine cones. Outdoors I trained this one, and she has golf ball nugs everywhere
It's the 4th week of Flower!! I've gotta say, counting weeks is tough and I always get it mixed up. 0-7 days is 1 week. So this is week 4, days 21-28. I do some reason feel like the 28th day should be the start of week 4 but it doesn't work that way...idk sorry bout the rant!
This week I wont do a day by day as nothing has happened per those days. Except for Thursday. Day 27 of flower.
Every Thursday we water in the Teas and recharge. I also, lollipopped her this week and removed some of the larger fan leaves. CMOG is the heaviest plant as it is and some great spacing between buds ensure hood light penetration.
She is getting super stinky and frosty too!! Cannot wait for 1 more week for her to really pop!!
