MrLahey Today is day 7 after germination. Had some troubles getting seeds to germinate and my first two failed. I tried sowing those directly into soil at field capacity but I don’t think I had it warm and humid enough to ensure germination as neither seed popped after a week. Third time I put the seed between a couple of soaked cotton make up pads in a sealed Tupperware jar in my folding bread proofing box at 78 degrees and a taproot developed after only two days. I think going forward for future grows I might try that method again. Looking forward to this famous cultivar and I can’t wait to taste the terps eventually. This’ll be my fourth season/plant with this soil and the strong terps it made my chicken n’ waffles express I’m super excited to see how strong these blueberry terps will be in this soil!

MrLahey Today is day 14 after germination. I just finished pulling out some clover and transplanting the plant from the solo cup into the 20g fabric pot. I was fascinated and ecstatic with how much life is in this soil. It’s more like a terrarium almost than a garden or just a plant. When I pulled back some leaves to expose the top of the root ball there was a healthy population of different insects consisting of little itsy bitsy mites and more red wiggler worms than I was expecting. And there’s clearly a good fungal/mycelial network in the soil as evidenced by the coprinus (ink cap) mushroom. I thought it was a dead clover at first so I touched it and then felt the gel like ink transfer to my hand. So fascinating! 😀😀😀 This is my fourth grow cycle with this soil and I’m super excited for this grow with it because every successive grow has produced terpier and terpier results. I’m gonna let her grow for another week, probably top her then and then onto the scrog.

MrLahey Still moving in the right direction but I appear about to be taught a hard earned lesson to have my soil tested more often if I’m gonna keep growing with the same soil for each grow. It looks like I may have possibly a cal/mag deficiency? I use RO/DI water in my reservoir as unfiltered the water out of my tap is around 9.6 ph. I know people say living soil doesn’t need ph’d water but I feel like a ph of almost 10 is probably pushing it lol. So I filter itbut because of that it has no calcium or magnesium. I bet I didn’t supplement the soil thoroughly/balanced enough and it was on the low end and now has used it up. I bought some buildaveg from buildasoil and will apply it via foliage spray and see how the new growth looks. I haven’t had any calmag issues in the past few grows with this soil so it’s quite possible I just didn’t amend the soil balanced enough before I started this grow. The buildasoil cover crop is wild! It’s really putting out some unexpected but very welcome colors! The red is beautiful. I should bring out my macro lens and real camera and get a shot or two while the colors are peak red. The cover crop grows fast! If I don’t trim it every two days I fear it may take over the world it is growing so fast. Worms in the soil are active as heck at night. Very healthy population of red wigglers. I shot a 6 night timelapse video and at night the ir camera shows how active they really are. Super wild to watch the rarely seen world of worms doing their thing. Hoping my attempt to fix whatever deficiency I have is a solution and then I’ll scrog her and then send her to flower. We shall see!

MrLahey Another week down. I seem to have a cricket in the tent. It hasn’t done damage yet but regardless I gotta get it out! I have essential tremors so I can’t really grab it with a towel or anything because I def run the risk of damaging the plant that way due to my hand tremors. I tried using a vacuum with a 5 foot extension and nearly got him that way. I think next time I’ll get him with that method. He hid in the clover in the rear but I’ll get him next time he comes out to perch. This is my first time having a pest. I bet my dirty tent attracted it with the clover on the floor of the tent. That clover is like a jungle. You could hide Godzilla in it! I did a light foliar spray of buildaveg last night and will start supplementing with that in the water as well. Gonna put the scrog net in the tent tomorrow and start scrogging.

MrLahey Started the scrog maybe five days ago or so. Gonna let her go for 2 more weeks of scrogging maybe? Depends on how patient or impatient I get. It seems like the cricket may have moved out when I had the door open for maintenance recently. I haven’t seen or heard from it in days. Been giving the plant BuildASoil Quillaja Saponaria Extract Powder 20, BuildASoil Big 6 Micronutrients, Rootwise Mycrobe Complete and BuildAVeg Vegetative Plant Booster. Once I added the Buildaveg the plant issue with the leaves eventually stopped and now she’s starting to look good to my semi trained eyes. Ppfd shows somewhere around 540 ppm according to Photone. Might push it to 600 and hold it there for the rest of veg. Humidity has been a little low for my preference in veg. I like it between .8 - 1.1 in veg but I’ve been hovering closer to 1.2. No big deal really. Who knows how accurate the vivosun probes even are. Someday I’m gonna upgrade to the pulse pro monitor. Looking forward to rest of the grow and especially flower soon!

MrLahey Flipped to flower on 8/31 so today is day 9 of flower. Unfortunately I noticed my irrigation system hadn’t been running for 3 or 4 days and due to that the plant was underwatered and NOT happy ha. I seem to have caught the issue right before it got ugly. Hoping I didn’t stunt her too much during such an important stage in the plants growth. Time will tell. I definitely lost most of my worms during the dry period. Gonna probably take a while to rebuild their population and all the other microbes/fungal networks. If this plant turns out to have not been stunted then the next like 35-40 days should show rapid growth if this cultivar really does finish around 45 days as Humboldt seems to have said. I’ve read that it’s recommended to pull this one in the 45 day window if you want to keep the blueberry terps as strong as possible. I’m just glad my watering error wasn’t too costly! Onto the next week!

MrLahey Today is day 27 of flower. Not my cleanest grow from a deficiency standpoint an irrigation standpoint but she will finish and should be just fine! I’ve heard that you should pull BBM around that 45 day window if you are growing for max blueberry terps vs max thc etc. Should be interesting to see how she looks between day 45 and 50. Looking forward to it!

MrLahey Day 33 of flower. Think I’m definitely gonna do a staggered harvest. I’ll pull the tops in 2-3 weeks and then put those through the 14 day dry/cure in my vcure and then harvest the remainder of the plant. Getting close! When I open the tent door she smells great. She should start to bulk up soon.

MrLahey Day 42 of flower. Pulling the tops within the next week or so and will let the other buds lower in the canopy a couple extra weeks. Def gonna have to start chopping soon. I don’t want any issues if any fan or sugar leaves that are dying get too close to the buds.

Happy Harvest Day!

Chopped the top bud sites on day 47. Was worried the leaf necrosis would cause bud rot so I figured pull the tops on day 47 of this 45 day cultivar. Trichomes were where I tend to prefer them when I chop. I’ve heard through second hand info that Humboldt Seed Co recommends pulling around that 45 day window in order to retain max blueberry terpene profile as that terpene profile tends to change the longer the plant is allowed to flower. Again that’s second hand info so it could be false. Will be interesting to compare the flavors of the buds harvested on day 47 vs the ones harvested on day 61! The remaining lower bud sites will be chopped in 14 days when the tops are done drying and curing in my vcure on the craft setting I use. I obviously had some pretty late stage deficiencies this run likely due to me underamending the soil before or during this plants life cycle. This was my fourth grow cycle with this soil so the next grow I start will be its fifth. I’m going to get a good soil test and analysis before starting my next grow. The blueberry muffin terpenes were definitely captured this grow. I can’t wait to experience those flavors in my dhv once she’s had some time to dry and cure! I definitely had some significant deficiencies and watering issues this grow cycle so for the plant to still pull this good of flower is definitely a testament to this cultivars vigor against grower mistakes haha. I’ll definitely grow this cultivar again. Gotta love fast flowering photos! Will update after the lower bud sites are done!

MrLahey A pleasure to grow. I’ll have to grow her again in the future to grow her without deficiencies to really push the genetics maximum and compare the difference. Once I get a second tent I’ll definitely put a BBM in that tent.

I would love to have a beautiful bouquet from that. Better than roses, lilies, tulips🤩

@MrLahey, tough start but you're persevering, those failed seeds are just learning experience 😊

@wolfvb, for sure! Error was mine imo and likely not the seeds. I hadn’t had a seed not germinate for I think my last four plants/seasons. I try to keep my tent in use year round.
