I haven't actually decided yet whether I'm going to grow this girl inside or out. It depends whether or not another seed I have sprouts in a few days or not. I have a batch of autoflowers that will finish off within a week or two and this is part of my new recruits. I grew some high CBD Raspberry Glue last summer outside and it has served me well. Repotted from seedling container into a square quart sized container which will be home for a couple weeks. Spending a few hours per day inside my tent under LED lighting at about 48" for a little acclimation. I may move her into the tent sooner rather than later depending on how fast my autoflowers finish off. Strain info from the Seedsman site: ================================= With laboratory reports confirming CBD content of 18%, this brand new addition to our strain collection can be used in the treatment of a variety of ailments. While the classic cerebral high of its Cheese parent is not present in this strain, the relaxing body effect is very noticeable. This means that both recreational and medical users can enjoy the effects of CBD Cream and Cheese. In terms of aroma and flavour, you won’t be surprised to hear that this 1:1 CBD:THC strain retains that unmistakeable Cheese taste in abundance! CBD Cream and Cheese takes around 9 weeks to flower and is suitable for all environments and grow media. ================================= Characteristics BREEDER/BRAND Seedsman GENETICS Seedsman CBD x UK Cheese VARIETY Mostly Indica FLOWERING TYPE Photoperiod SEX Feminised THC CONTENT 22% CBD CONTENT 18% YIELD Indoors: 400 - 600 gr/m2; Outdoors: 800 gr/plant PLANT HEIGHT up to 250 cm. At present this girl has been getting about 4 hours of LED lighting per day as part of her 18 hour cycle. She's probably acclimated by now... I'm just deciding how I'm going to finish off my autoflowers and make space in my tent for this girl to veg for awhile. Staring to grow nicely, but still very fragile. June 19 > Decided to leave this girl under full-time LED lighting starting today. June 21 > Weird... but I almost had something bad happen. Came out to check up on the girls in the tent and this little girl had fallen over, I suspect from a rogue gust of wind in the tent from my oscillating fan. She had been lying on her side for long enough that the fan leaves had reoriented themselves to the light - probably more than an hour or two. I basically used soil to prop the stem back up vertically (but the leaves are looking sideways now), and crossed my fingers... but all is back to normal now. The stem on this baby seemed more fragile than it's Northen Light neighbor right from the start - but I think we're passed the scary part and they are starting to look happy.

Things are really starting to take off in the veg department. Moved the plants a little closer to the lights. At the moment she's only being fed some Azospirillum for root development.

I thought I already updated this diary but this week was missing - so I'm reconstructing it from my photo library. It's on the same growth cycle as my Northern Light. Repotted into a roughly 2 gallon container for just a couple weeks until we move outdoors and into final container.

Weather has been nice and moderate this week. Daytime temps in the mid to upper 70's and evening in the mid 50s. Nice. The girls are enjoying their new temporary containers. We'll be moving her outdoors and into her permanent container in a couple weeks.

Things are starting to take off so I thought I'd throw the brakes on and top these girls (both Northern Light and Cream & Cheese are on the same schedule). Made a not-so-clean clean top on this girl so we'll call this a FIM - her top was a little denser than the Northern Light) and measured her afterward - she's 14" tall now and grew about 6" last week so she's enjoying that new container she received. She'll be repotted again and moved outside permanently in about a week. Everybody gets a few hours of sunlight a day now for acclimation to light and wind. She seems slightly more fragile than the Northern Light, and stretches a bit further - she also seems a bit thirstier than that smaller girl. July 16 -> Repotted into final 10 gallon fabric container and moved outdoors for the remainder of the summer.

Cream & Cheese hasn't been quite as structurally stable as Northern Light. She actually got a little wilty in the heat when I first moved her outside after repotting, but I think she's more or less stabilized now. Definitely starting to stretch since moving outside, much like Northern Light. It's nice to have all my plants repotted into their final containers for the summer. Lightens the mental workload... puts everybody on the same schedule. Weather has been great. Height comes in at 23".

Hard to believe how fast this girl is stretching since being moved outdoors. Immense space between the nodes. Things have gotten hotter lately with a few days in the 90's. She was initially somewhat fragile when first moved outdoors but she's fine now. Growth at the top seems a bit deformed, but I assume that's a result of my FIM job instead of a clean cut. She's at 35" now, which means she grew a solid foot last week. Wish the internodal spacing was smaller but it is what it is.

Another big growth week for Cream & Cheese...she's at 44" now, about 9" growth after a solid foot last week. That's moving. She's now as big as my small Amnesia which will be harvested in about 48 hours elsewhere. Not exactly a dense bush but I suspect that will aid in getting light to buds later in life. She certainly drinks more than her nearby Northern Light sister of the same age... by about a half gallon of fluid a day (she's drinking 2 gallons and I'm giving her 50% nutrient levels). Probably why she's taller. I believe she's just starting to show some pre-flowers. Northern Light appears a bit further along.

This girl is getting quite a wingspan. She blows about in the wind a bit too. Leaves generally much skinnier than her Northern Light sister. She's about 50" tall now and probably just as wide. Lots of space between the nodes so I expect light to get in at the buds with less trimming by me. She's clearly flowering now and probably could have been called flowering last week too.

Still stretching but starting to flower profusely, there's lots of space for the sun to get in at these buds so this should get pretty interesting. A bit more slender in the stalk department than Northern Lights, with leaves not as broad shaped either. It's been very hot this past week with a couple 100 degree days and this girl wants every bit of the two gallons of fluid I give her each morning... and she'll drink more later if you give it to her. Northern Lights can't drink that fast or that much.

I pulled a considerable number of yellowing leaves off the Cream & Cheese yesterday. Not sure if she's been responding to the higher than normal temps from last week. Trying to give her extra water in the afternoons also. Trying to take pictures with my new macro lens for my big camera is difficult because this girl moves a lot in the wind with relatively slender branches. Need to use a tripod. Things are slowing down in the vertical growth area with 2" last week up to 57".

A day late on the diary update as I was out playing golf in paradise yesterday. Caught a 1 in 100 weather day in Half Moon Bay, CA... sunny 70 degrees and less than 10 mph wind. Almost never happens. Normally the choices are heavy fog or high wind, one or the other. Anyway... cannabis... this Cream & Cheese baby is starting to show signs she's gonna need some structural support going forward. A couple of the lower branches are starting to roll over on themselves due to their weight (relative to their structural capacity). She's spread herself out so wide and her branches are rather slender. A large number of leaves on this girl are turning yellow, compared to the other girls on the patio. Normally I just yank off fan leaves as soon as they turn completely yellow. She's 58" tall now and that's probably about it. The video I threw in here is actually a couple weeks old because it took me that long to put together. Video isn't really my thing.

A cool and foggy day today.... and actually quite windy. I'll probably have to consider flushing this baby in the next week or so. Hard to take samples to inspect trichomes because the leaves are so skinny. I have a new microscope camera on the way so hopefully I can get better trichome pics. We'll see. Sept. 9 > trichrome inspection shows more amber than I was expecting so we’re gonna flush this baby tomorrow. She will probably be the first of 4 girls on the patio to be harvested based on trichomes. I expect she will be ready within a week. It’s supposed to get hot later this week so we’ll have to monitor how much she drinks. Sept. 12 > based on the amount of amber trichomes I'm ready to pull the plug on this baby on Saturday morning. I've been taking a fair amount of pics with my monster Sony camera and sending a few into to Seedsman contest which is about a week away from concluding.

This baby actually snuck up on me being the first of 4 plants on my patio to be ready for harvest using trichomes as my guide. It took me roughly 4 hours to take the entire plant down and wash it and get her ready for drying. A bit longer than I expected since there's a fair bit of space between the nodes and it was fairly easy to pluck fan leaves. Been very hot and dry lately... although we are expecting our first precipitation since spring on Monday so it's not a bad time to get some harvesting out of the way. It will be a few days before this stuff is dry enough to process further, but I plan to give the dry trimmer another go. After further processing we can add in some weights. September 19 > I'm surprised that it's taken this long for this baby to dry to this point - but it's been a weird week with two bouts of precipitation that we don't normally see. Slow is better - but I have a load of herb stacked up behind this. Fortunately... what we call indian summer conditions are about to prevail drying things out further. I'm surprised how tasty my initial tastes of this strain came in... normally I wouldn't even consider tasting something this young, but after initial tests I'm sure I'm a gonna like this stuff. I had to de-bud the C&C completely to make room for Northern Lights which needs to come down tomorrow... probably followed another half week by Amnesia #2, and then there is Purple Berry Kush bringing up the rear guard. Gonna be a busy next couple weeks. Started trimming on September 23 and finished the next day. Final bud weight comes in at 269 grams for one plant (9.5 ounces). The bud size is not tremendous but the yield was substantial and will keep me and my friends rolling in CBD until next summer. I would have to say this stuff did not dry as fast as I'm used to for herb that I've washed after harvest. Initial dry seems to be around 50%. Lower than I like but I was trying to dry the herb out for use with the Dry Trimmer... but I'd have to say the trimmer still isn't performing up to expectations. I used the maximum number of rotations/spins and really tried to beat the herb up but she won the fight. I still spent somewhere between 5-6 hours trimming by hand after that fight. I couldn't really wait any longer for the C&C to dry further because I have other trees coming in behind her and I need the space. The amount of shake/trim generated using the Trim Bag was about 65 grams - the amount from my hand trimming was 3x that easy. Off to wrestle with Northern Lights... Amnesia 7 comes down at dawn. Busy time of year... but what would you rather be doing...? ✊ 😬
the end.
