Ganjin Hello my dear growmies ๐ŸŒฑ, welcome to my new diary. The 2026/2027 season begins with a new strain from one of the most acclaimed breeders out there, the Humboldt Seed Co. (HSC) Their Jelly Donutz strain, which I grew, had one of the most intense and tasty terps that I have ever smelled and tasted. So, I build up a stash of different strains from them in my fridge ๐Ÿน. For now, I want to choose strains to build my palate. I would love to get good into cannabis tasting, that's why I need to grow different strains with different terp profiles. What I never had is a true dessert strain. Jelly Donutz has some dessert for sure, but it's still mainly candy-gas. That's why I chose the Puff Pastry, which is a new 2026 release of the washer line. Puff Pastry is a cross of Obama Kush Z (OBKZ) and Blueberry Cupcake (BBCC). I don't really find any information on the internet regarding Obama Kush Z. I know there is an Obama Kush, but I don't know who crossed that to Zkittlez or if OBKZ is even a Z cross at all. The only hint I got was from a podcast in which Nat and Ben from HSC were guests. When OBKZ got mentioned, the host only giggled and said something like "nice" or "fire", like it is a strain that you got to know. But there is simply no information about it, which makes me kind of confused. BBCC on the other hand is one of the most successful strains from HSC, a cross between their Blueberry Muffin (in fridge, ofc) and Seed Junky's Wedding Cake. It's a huge stretcher, which I really need to keep in mind, and leans more to Wedding Cake. HSC loves to stabilize their strains and it seems like BBCC is a stabilized version of Wedding Cake by design, but that could be a reach from my end. Nevertheless, the result is Puff Pastry. The buds should be fat and juicy, full of trichomes. The taste should be of baked goods like Churros with chocolate and some OG gas and lemon in the background. And I hope that this pheno delivers that, I really need dessert terps for my brain to train. Humboldt states on their description of the Humboldt Pound Cake strain that they don't really like breeding with Wedding Cake because of intersex traits and I read in two independent threads of different growers on reddit that their BBCC and Puff Pastry hermed. So this is a factor and I need to look out for pollen sacks in the lower parts of the plant, especially. HSC recommends to switch the light to 12/12 gradually, which I want to try for the first time this grow. Additionally, I want to keep the light spectrum at vegetative state for the first 3 weeks of flower because I read in a paper (DOI: 10.1159/000489030) that more blue light and less red light leads to tighter internodal spacing and less plant stretch overall. That's what I want to try to control the stretch more and don't end up with a disaster like in my last High Society grow. And lastly, I want to use the trellis net that came with the VGrow. Just to learn with it, I don't expect to get a perfect trellis grow on the first try. The seed got put in a glass with water and germinated after 24 h. I planted the seedling in an Eazy Plug after 48 h, to give the tap root some more time to come out further. The seedling was born on day 3 in the plug. So for now, everything worked out and we will see how this little thing turns out. I am beyond exited for this season, I have some really nice strains to grow. And my collection expands basically every month ๐Ÿ’€ On the nutrient department, I want to proudly share that this grow is supported by Bio Tabs. My last grow went really smooth with their nutrient line. I never had healthier leafs and most importanty, prettier and denser buds. That's why I stay with them for my upcoming grows, for sure. I stated in my last grow that the preparation of the soil with dry amendments is so much more satisfactory as using liquid nutrients, and so much easier, too. Just water and some extra nutrients here and there and you're fine. It doesn't really get easier than that! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š Like always, I will exactly describe what I do. If something does not work out, everything will be documented. I want to steal an approach from a growmie called GanjaGecko, who summarizes strain information in each week at the bottom of this update section. I really like that, so I want to do that too. ๐ŸŒฑ Strain "Puff Pastry" characteristics ๐ŸŒฑ ๐ŸŒน Parents: Obama Kush Z (Obama Kush x Original Z (?)) x Blueberry Cupcake (Blueberry Muffin x Wedding Cake) ๐Ÿฅ€ Grandparents: Obama Kush (Afghani x OG Kush, according to Leafly) x Original Z (Grape Ape x Grapefruit) Blueberry Muffin (Purple Panty Dropper x Razzle Berry) x Wedding Cake (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints) ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป Smell: Chocolate + Churros + Gas ๐Ÿ““ Taste: Spiced Donuts + Fuel ๐Ÿ Flower time: 55 days, if grown outdoor and from clone or from seed with long vegetative phase (like in Humboldt)

Ganjin โ˜€๏ธ // Day 8 ๐ŸŒฑ The first week is over and everything went well, at least for the most part. I started this grow journey again in a coco plug. I like the transparency of these cubes. I can effortlessly observe if the seed is gonna make it or not. If the tap root grows fine or if something goes off. And I can also observe the root development, which you can see on picture 3. The Puff Pastry already has a strong root development, that's a really positive trait of a strain or even a pheno. It's not all that matters but still a good thing to have. And now the not-so-nice part: The seedling did not like the transplant from the coco plug into the solo cup, filled with ordinary light mix, again. I have this problem every single grow and I want to learn and keep getting better. So this time, I adjusted the parameter "watering" and just watered a little bit after setting the plug with the seedling into the solo cup. I chose this parameter because I had the feeling that in the past, I overwatered the plant after the transplantation. In a solo cup, there is not much soil and therefore not much oxygen for the roots to expand to. And I thought that the complete saturation of the cup was just too much for those young roots, which ultimately resulted in fading of leaf color and stunted growth. So I watered just 20ml in a circle around the seedling. And the plant still didn't take it easily and started to get (just a little) pale again and additionally stopped growing for like 2 days straight. Much better than last runs, so it was definitely the watering, but I preffer the plant not to suffer in any way during those first critical days. So for the next time, I want to adjust this approach and just plant the germinated seed directly into the soil of the solo cup. Which means to completely skip the coco plug + repotting part. Just to do something else and maybe not stun a seedling for once. Anyway, for the solo cup, I use Bio Tabs Mycotrex. I sprinkled approximately 1 tea spoon of it into the soil layer, where the coco plug got set in. Mycotrex is a mixture of different endomycorrhizal spores, which are pretty marvelous microorganisms. The form a so called mycorrhiza, which is a symbiosis between the fungus and the roots of the plant. They basicially help each other to survive, by delivering or sharing nutrients. The fungy extend the root network, without needing more roots to grow in said network, but just by forming an interconnection. Additionally, Mycotrex has some plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria and other additives, which are beneficial for the soil and the plant. Just a nice product in my opinion. I also used it before Bio Tabs started to support this diary. The soil in the solo cup only consists of light mix, I didn't use any dry amendments yet. They will be applied for the 15 L end pot I want to use this run. And today, I switched the light spectrum from seedling phase to vegetative phase. I plan to transplant the seedling into the end pot at around day 12, but we'll see how she performs in the upcoming days. It's gonna get really hot again, unfortunately. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Watering: approximately 200ml ๐Ÿ’Š Fertilizer: Mycotrex ๐Ÿ’ก Light: 155 PPFD @ 30 % power and vegetative spectrum ๐ŸŒฑ Strain "Puff Pastry" characteristics ๐ŸŒฑ ๐ŸŒน Parents: Obama Kush Z (Obama Kush x Original Z (?)) x Blueberry Cupcakes (Blueberry Muffin x Wedding Cake) ๐Ÿฅ€ Grandparents: Obama Kush (Afghani x OG Kush, according to Leafly) x Original Z (Grape Ape x Grapefruit) Blueberry Muffin (Purple Panty Dropper x Razzle Berry) x Wedding Cake (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints) ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป Smell: Chocolate + Churros + Gas ๐Ÿ““ Taste: Spiced Donuts + Fuel ๐Ÿ Flower time: 55 days, if grown outdoor and from clone or from seed with long vegetative phase (like in Humboldt)

Ganjin โ˜€๏ธ // Day 14 ๐ŸŒฑ Today should be the last day of the heat wave. I hope that this nightmare is over now and the world stops burning. The plant made beautiful progress in the last 6 days. She is now developing her 4th set of leafs and has no signs of stress or deficiencies. Normally I wanted to transplant her into the 15 L (just below 4 gal.) end pot but the one I want to use is still on the way and arrives in 3-4 days, unfortuantely. Which means the plant is staying longer in the Solo Cup than anticipated. For her, it's not really a biggy because plants in this stage can stay in Solo Cups for quite some time. But it disturbes my training plans with her. I wanted to top her by removing the 5th set of leafs that comes through. This would have led to 4 main branches. But now I think she will be past that point when the 15 L pot arrives. So my plan is to top her when the 7th set of leafs comes around. Additionally I am removing the lowest side branches to still have 4 main branches as a result. The differnce will be just the age of the plant. And the reason why I needed to order a new 15 L pot in the first place are the height restrictions of the VGrow. I decided that I'd rather use a wider pot than a taller one. And I found a very high quality fabric pot with 4 cm less height than the ones I have. That doesn't sound like much but considering the growing space of this box, it's around 5 % of more vertical space, which is a lot in my books. And I know, Cannabis likes to root deeply but from my experience, the tap root never reached the bottom anyway during my short vegetative cycles. And even if the root reaches to bottom, since it's a fabric pot, air pruning will do it's job and I will lose basically nothing. That's the plan for now and we'll see how it turns out. I watered her two times on the last 6 days. Her full 75 mL watering to saturation was three days ago and she will get another 75 mL this evening. So she needs around 3 days to drink the solo cup dry. That tells me that she still has more than enough time in this starter pot, considering the abysmal temperatures during day times. In addition to that she got a first application of BioTabs Boom Boom Spray. I mixed 5 mL per L of water and sprayed it on her leafs. Today, she looks really healthy and well fed. I love these leaf nutrients because they get absorbed so fast and reliable. With that spray, I can make sure that she has enough nutrients until the end pot finally arrives. So the next weekly update will include the preparation of the soil and the following transplantation of the plant. At least I hope so. I hope you have a good time until then and happy growing! ๐Ÿ’ฆ Watering: 200 mL @ pH = 6.5 in last 6 days ๐Ÿ’Š Fertilizer: BoomBoom Spray ๐Ÿ’ก Light: 200 PPFD @ 45 % power and vegetative spectrum ๐ŸŒฑ Strain "Puff Pastry" characteristics ๐ŸŒฑ ๐ŸŒน Parents: Obama Kush Z (Obama Kush x Original Z (?)) x Blueberry Cupcakes (Blueberry Muffin x Wedding Cake) ๐Ÿฅ€ Grandparents: Obama Kush (Afghani x OG Kush, according to Leafly) x Original Z (Grape Ape x Grapefruit) Blueberry Muffin (Purple Panty Dropper x Razzle Berry) x Wedding Cake (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints) ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป Smell: Chocolate + Churros + Gas ๐Ÿ““ Taste: Spiced Donuts + Fuel ๐Ÿ Flower time: 55 days, if grown outdoor and from clone or from seed with long vegetative phase (like in Humboldt)

Ganjin โ˜€๏ธ // Day 23 ๐ŸŒฑ Today is a big update, lots of milestones were hit since last weeks diary entry. The plant got transplanted into the final 15 L (4 gal) pot. The soil in the pot consists of ordinary light mix. I blended in Startrex and Silicium Flash from BioTabs, according to their nutrient "only water" shedule. That means 75 g of both dry amendments into those 15 L. On top of that, 2 Organic Fertiliser Tablets were inserted approximately 10 cm down into the soil, around the plant. For the first watering, 1 g of Bactrex and 10 mL of Orgatrex were mixed into 1 L of water, which marked the first watering after transplant. The root ball of the Puff Pastry was pretty solid, day 16 was a good timing for the end pot. The next milestone was hit 5 days later when the plant got topped. Her side branches were still pretty small at that time but I didn't want to wait longer because of her upright growth. And as we see, she kicked back nice enough. Today, two days later, her side branches made pretty good progress. Overall, the plant has a solid size for her age. Not my biggest grower but also not my worst by far. The nutrients are also doing their job perfectly since all leafs show no signs of stress or deficiencies. Juicy, dark, beautiful green is all they show. I really dig this setup with dry amendments. Like I said in my last diary, it has something medidative to prepare the soil. Almost like gardening is a core part of the human subconcious haha Last thing to share is the second watering. She got 2 L of water with epsom salt on day 19. The soil is still moist, so no watering for the next 1-3 days. I put the pot on top of a bucket to have less distance to the light which means I can run the LEDs on only 65 % of power. This safes some electrical energy and keeps the grow box cooler. The heat wave is over for now but there is still no need to keep temperatures higher than 29 ยฐC inside. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Watering: 3L in last 9 days with pH = 6.5 ๐Ÿ’Š Fertilizer: Bactrex, Orgatrex, Epsom Salt in water and Startrex, Silicium Flash in soil ๐Ÿ’ก Light: approximately 400 PPFD at 65 % power and vegetative spectrum ๐ŸŒฑ Strain "Puff Pastry" characteristics ๐ŸŒฑ ๐ŸŒน Parents: Obama Kush Z (Obama Kush x Original Z (?)) x Blueberry Cupcakes (Blueberry Muffin x Wedding Cake) ๐Ÿฅ€ Grandparents: Obama Kush (Afghani x OG Kush, according to Leafly) x Original Z (Grape Ape x Grapefruit) Blueberry Muffin (Purple Panty Dropper x Razzle Berry) x Wedding Cake (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints) ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป Smell: Chocolate + Churros + Gas ๐Ÿ““ Taste: Spiced Donuts + Fuel ๐Ÿ Flower time: 55 days, if grown outdoor and from clone or from seed with long vegetative phase (like in Humboldt)

@Kushycat, I think I even read something about cinnamon rolls, maybe it'll come back to me but I would almost say that Humboldt has something there or was it Sensi in one of the collabs? I'll check again.
