AbroCadabro After the outbreak of root rot in my system during the last run, I had to tear everything down and sterilize it all with bleach. After about a week of running the system with no plants, I don't see any signs of bacterial growth. I administer 40mL of 3% H2O2 daily to make sure it stays that way. I popped 6 seeds of this Hindu Kush from Sensi. They're regular seeds so I'm looking for a pair of plants to pollinate and make a batch of seeds. My tent is in my garage so I am at the mercy of the seasons when I grow. My time to grow these out will be limited. They will be flipped to 12/12 ASAP and my only goal is pollination. Fingers crossed that the breeding pair produce some quality seeds. The Afghani #1 from Sensi that I pollinated a couple years ago produced some killer offspring. I grew one of them out in my first RDWC diary. I expect similar results from this strain. Sensi has produced some great genetics.

AbroCadabro So far things are looking good. Plants are healthy and the roots are growing quickly. I will probably increase the amount of nutrients in the water to about 1000ppm for the veg cycle. Plan is to flip these to flower in 4-6 weeks and hope there is male and female pair in the group.

AbroCadabro Been a little busy the last 2 weeks with the plants. Transplanted them out of the rockwool and into net pots with hydroton. Algae was starting to grow on the rockwool and I was concerned the rockwool may have been the start of what led to root rot in the last grow. When I lifted the net pots out, the roots had been damaged and where not looking great. I think I was being too aggressive with adding H2O2 to the resevoir and it was hurting the plants. I took the plants out of the net pots, removed the rockwool and tried to save as much of the root structure as possible. After replanting I got rid of the H2O2 and switched to Orca which has beneficial bacteria and organisms. I also started adding Pure Blend Tea to keep the organisms fed. The results were amazing. In a single week, more roots have formed than I would have ever expected and they are more white and thicker than I have seen in my last 2 grows. I'm sold on Orca. That shit is amazing.

you should have put something over the rockwool to block light from hitting it, I'm pretty sure that's what caused all your problems a piece of aluminum foil would have done the trick

@AutoKing92, yeah. Still learning tricks of the trade. The hydroton works pretty well but doesn't really shift as the plant grows. That's why I was trying out the rockwool. I might try it again in the future and use a method like you mentioned to keep algae from growing.

@AbroCadabro yea I use rookwool to start my seedlings and put reflective bubble wrap around the inside of my net pot to block out as much light as possible

Awesome dude, welcome to the darkside LOL. Just wanted to let you know with the beneficial bacteria the reservoir will get a bit weird. Those BB's will be living in there and sometimes the Mycorrhizae will bond to the roots almost looks like root-rot, dont worry as long as the roots are white and there is no smell! After the first few doses this should go away. I only need to add my GW every reservoir change once a week, havent tried Orca but its just liquid GW. Best of luck and sending good vibes.

@Thundrfuk, do your roots look almost translucent at times?

@AbroCadabro, In my experience, that kinda happens when the temps are a bit high. Also with the Myco, you may notice they need a bit less nutrients as that fungus acts as a catalyst if you will, making things easier for the plant to feed.

oh yea and instead of using beneficial bacteria you can run sterile by using 0.2 per gallon of bleach every few days and it won't hurt your plants and keeps your roots clean

and you won't have to worry about your reservoir temps getting to high or anything
