Raffael Hey there, after the Frostbanger didn't want to cooperate, we let this beautiful specimen move into the bed. It's already been dealing with a slight trip infestation, but I'm feeling good about it :)
The substrate consists of 70% soil & 30% peat, along with a homemade fertilizer mix of short- and long-term fertilizers like alfalfa, cow manure, bat guano, algae, fish meals, and some rock powders. Plus, it's regularly boosted with bokashi juice and various homemade ferments & EM :) There are also about 2-300 compost worms, springtails, white and other pill bugs, some predatory mites & nematodes, and the full package, you know? :D
It's only the second run in the new bed, so it's still getting settled in.
Current temperature: 24.5 degrees
Current humidity: 75%
VPD: 0.75
Raffael The apple strudel is such a mix, I'm curious if it stays that way because in the first run in the bed, there was a plant in that spot that only grew half as big as the others :D but there are enough worms in there that should actually mix everything a bit more.. & the bed has been around for about half a year now, so it's really settling in :)
I really thought that if you don't top, they grow completely differently, but it's the same with every plant that all the shoots go to the same height, but isn't that too much? I can't really imagine that with 50cm spacing and 40%, I'm curious to see how it goes on.

Raffael Apple Strudel Auto â Week 4
The Apple Strudel has now completed its fourth week and has also started to bloom, currently it is at bloom day 5. In terms of growth, it remains rather compact and is clearly behind the other two plants in size. It is currently only about one to two centimeters taller than the Banana Purple, although the two appear quite similar in growth overall. The other two plants, on the other hand, are approximately twice as tall.
Otherwise, the Apple Strudel looks very good and healthy. The leaves look good, and there are no other noticeable issues. Let's see if it gets a growth spurt in the coming weeks and stretches a bit more, or if it generally belongs to the smaller plants.

Raffael Weekly Update: Apple Strudel Automatic
After feeling like the brakes were pulled a bit on the Apple Strudel in the last few weeks, there was finally the necessary wake-up call. Just like the Banana Purple Punch, it suffered from the lack of light and only received a meager 200 PPFD in the tent chaos. So itâs no wonder that the last two weeks were a bit lackluster and the pictures looked pretty monotonous â especially when compared to the impressive lead of Guava and Z-Up.
Fortunately, this changed when I moved the lamp two or three days ago: The light has shifted, and now the Apple Strudel is also getting a solid 500 PPFD. The light boost for the Banana Purple Punch kicked in immediately and showed clean flower sites right away. For the Apple Strudel, Iâm really hoping for the same effect, even though it seems to have stagnated a bit in comparison so far. Overall, it looks great â absolutely healthy, no issues, except for two or three isolated thrips that I immediately removed. Since then, thankfully, itâs been quiet; it was probably just a tiny, freshly arrived squad.
In summary, itâs now: Hang in there. The Apple Strudel still has to be patient until the other two (Guava and Z-Up) are ready for a partial harvest. Only when Iâve halved the big ones will the tent picture balance out again, and hopefully, theyâll all be on the same level again. Until then, the smaller strains have to hope for their last weeks, where they can finally receive their full light output. No use in anything else!

Raffael Mutant Alert! â The apple strudel in the no-till bed is taking its own path! đ
Hello everyone!
I have to show you a little highlight from my 350L living soil bed today, because what is happening right now is something I've never experienced before. It's about the apple strudel â it has been my little latecomer from the start, as it was a week behind the others. But what it is showing now and how it is catching up is simply special.
Take a close look at the picture: This is definitely not a normal cannabis genetics, as one knows it. From the central flower head, individual leaves are growing extremely steeply upwards, almost fan-like or claw-like. The flower structure is completely different from my previous plants â much more irregular and scraggly. It really seems as if it is a mutant or a very special genetics. In any case, it is a unique specimen in my tent.
Despite its unusual appearance, it shows super stable growth. The stretch has kicked in nicely, and it has shot up vigorously in the last few days. It has easily overtaken the banana purple punch and is now almost reaching the height of the Z-UP. For being a week behind, it has caught up remarkably well!
The plant is absolutely vital, with no nutrient burn or deficiencies on the leaves. At the moment, it is only getting minimal nutrients. A few days ago, it had a bit of bat guano, which it tolerated super well. In a week or two, I will give it some bokashi juice and possibly a few alfalfa pellets again.
The next few weeks will definitely be very interesting to see how it develops this unique structure. If someone wants something really special in their tent, the apple strudel would definitely be a tip.
Have you ever had such a crazy or mutated genetics in your tent? What is your favorite mutant strain? Feel free to write it to me in the comments!

Raffael Apple Strudel Auto â Weekly Update
âTitle: Monster Growth, Super Cropping & pure Power in No-Till Bed
âGrowth & Height: The Apple Strudel is currently showing unbelievable growth and has completely exploded. With a height of around 1.50 m, it has even surpassed the Z-Up.
âEmergency Brake through Super Cropping: Because the main lighting has to hang at an angle due to the extreme spread of the Guava in the background, the Apple Strudel came too close to the lamp at times â I measured crisp 2,000 PPFD in some places. To tame that, I boldly supercropped four shoots (the main shoot and three strong side shoots) to 90°.
âFascinating Plant Reactivity: It's just insane how quickly the plant reacts. Just after one day, the bent shoots had completely twisted back up from the opposite direction and even turned the leaves exactly around their own axis to optimally capture the light.
âFlower Development: It is now pushing out proper flower cups. Slowly, the whole thing is growing out of the initial "mutant being" and visually transitioning into a beautiful, completely normal genetics.
âClimate & Tent: The temperatures are a bit crazy â despite cooler weather outside, it climbs to about 27 °C during the day (usually rather 23â24 °C), with stable 55% humidity.
âSoil Biology, Mulch & Micro-Adventures:
âBokashi Hotspot & Worms: In the corner where I incorporated Bokashi about three weeks ago, the material has apparently now spilled out of the acidic environment. There's a pure party going on in the soil: You can see worms stretching out and actively searching for food on what feels like every centimeter!
âBio-Stimulant (Wash Water): The milky wash water from the germinated seeds â packed with natural slime and tannins â I now use directly for watering. You can really feel how much activity and life is in the place.
âAutumn Mulch & Cover Crops: To properly produce more mulch (the previous amount was not quite enough), I lightly chopped and spread a colorful mix of collected oak and maple leaves from outside. Additionally, about 20 to 25 different seeds as cover crops were added, which will soon grow to 10â15 cm and then be incorporated again as chop-and-drop.
See you next week đ€

Raffael The apple strudel has finally finished its stretch and is now fully transitioning into flowering. Unfortunately, it has suffered quite a bit: As it can no longer tolerate the intense light, it shows the classic "taco effect." The leaves have completely curled up and the tips are as crispy as a cookie. I have dimmed the Sanlight from 80% to 70%, but I will not go any lower. The reason: The guava in the tent needs full steam. I might even increase the power again â the apple strudel will just have to endure that. A mistake that will not happen to me again in the next pure run!
Speaking of the next run: Things are already starting in the nursery! Two criticals and one super boof have already successfully germinated. As soon as the tent is empty, these photoperiodics will directly move into the large living soil bed. My goal for this run: A double SCROG with exactly 64 perfect headbuds.
Additionally, there was a massive hardware upgrade: The Spider Farmer 32 Pint dehumidifier has arrived and is running! From now on, I will operate a completely closed system without weaknesses and am perfectly equipped for the photos.
Outlook for the coming weeks:
My future updates here will structurally change a bit. Although the tent is currently still full with the autos in the final sprint, a strict 3-month protocol (10-12 weeks flowering cycle) has already been developed in the background. Together with the AI Gemini, I have worked out a complete AI-supported research project. The whole thing is designed as a strict scientific experimental setup to precisely track how the soil biology reacts to individual nutrients.
As soon as the photos move in, it will be about extracting the absolute maximum from the bed. Strict nutrient isolation, targeted microbiome development, and radical lollipopping are on the agenda. It will be exciting!
Nutrients (bed status):
Currently: The bed is still processing a load of oats for the microbiome. For the autos in the final sprint, there is currently a strict diet â exclusively pure water.
ps. the banana purple diary will also be suspended for now as it has been overgrownđ
