TvrdaPalice Right after germination, I managed to overwater the Jiffy. The plant immediately showed it – the inner leaves started to show signs of necrosis, the stem turned purple, and the cotyledons got spotted. I carefully squeezed the Jiffy and honestly expected it wouldn’t make it, and I would have to start over. But about 8 hours later, it showed a will to live – it started to straighten up, and the leaves in the middle were beautifully green again. The defects didn’t completely disappear, of course, but I decided to give it a chance, and I’m curious to see what it will eventually grow into. The roots have already grown through the Jiffy, so I transplanted it today into a 3L pot with Biobizz Light-Mix substrate, into which I mixed BioTabs Mycotrex.

TvrdaPalice It looks like the patient is saved and is really thriving. So far, nothing interesting is happening. The light is lower, I've brought the humidity down to 70%, I water it a bit here and there, but not too much. Jiff retains a lot of moisture compared to regular soil, and I don't want to overwater it. It seems like it's happy in the world 🌱. I think the next big step for us is the transplant into 15L.

TvrdaPalice The plant is doing great, growing wonderfully and gradually drawing energy from the cotyledons. Current parameters: PPFD: approx. 320 Temperature (air / leaf): 27 °C / 24 °C Humidity: 65 % I water with care according to the current moisture of the substrate. Now I'm just waiting for the crown to grow roughly to the edges of the pot, and then I'll transfer it to the final 15L container. 🌿

TvrdaPalice So, we've encountered another serious problem. The plant doesn't have nutrients, and the leaves are turning yellow. I measured the water's pH and got a little over 7, which is probably the main issue. I did measure the pH at the beginning during germination, and it was fine, but something must have changed and it spiked. Another possibility was that the nutrients from the Light Mix ran out in the 3L pot, but I personally think it's the pH that's to blame. I immediately transplanted the plant into a 15L pot, where I added Bactrex to the soil and buried 2 Biotabs. I brought the water's pH down to about 6.1 and thoroughly watered the entire 15L pot with about 3L of water. I might have overdone it again, but we'll see. Anyway, I'm not happy about this at all, and I'm considering starting completely over because the plant looks really distressed. On the other hand, the new young leaves inside have a beautiful green color, and it seems to be growing taller too. I’ll probably give it another week and see if the transplant and Biotabs help, even though I have some doubts about that... Next time, I might try soil and worm humus instead of Biotabs. What do you think, will it make it or is this the end for her?
