Mexicanasseeds Update: Week 1 Completed / Day 7 of Flowering (12/12 Photoperiod)
Project: Genetic Conservation and Phenotypic Evaluation in Multi-Grafted Mother Plant
1. Physiological Response and Apical Elongation (Initial Stretch)
- Growth Dynamics: Homogeneous transition to the pre-flowering phase in the 9 grafted arms. Active initiation of internodal elongation (stretch) is observed, characterized by light green/lime-colored apical shoots reflecting a high rate of cell division and expansion.
- Differential Vigor and Multivarietal Balance: The root pattern of the regional variety (Jarilla Sinaloa) has efficiently responded to the increased hydraulic demand, providing the necessary flow pressure to sustain the simultaneous elongation of the cultivars without signs of dominance or delayed wilting in the grafts.
2. Canopy Architecture and Mechanical Support
- Tutoring and Structural Stabilization: Due to the increase in biomass and the leverage that each variety will exert during flowering, an individualized staking tutoring system was established for each arm. This minimizes the risk of tearing at the grafting sites due to weight or wind.
- Basal Sanitation and Foliar Hygiene: A clear ventilation zone is maintained at the bottom of the main trunk and under the grafting points. This optimizes the internal microclimate of the canopy, reduces stagnant relative humidity, and redistributes photosynthates towards the dominant apical meristems.
- Germplasm Traceability: Individual identification and coding with visible marking labels at the base of each grafted arm (Banana OG, Cookies, Gelato, Black Domina, White Kush, GSC, Skywalker OG, Critical Kush, Cheese & Kush), ensuring independent phenotypic tracking.
3. Substrate Dynamics and Fertigation Management
- Increasing Water Consumption: With the increase in leaf area index (LAI) and transpiration rate, the system of 8 automated micropulses in the 50/50 coco mix (chips/fiber) maintains volumetric moisture without anoxic saturation.
- Salinity Control and Leaching: The 20% drainage fraction continues to function to prevent salt accumulation in the wet bulb. The temperature in the irrigation solution is maintained at 24 °C to preserve the solubility of dissolved oxygen and the health of the root system.
4. Phytosanitary Status and Biological Exclusion
- Preventive Monitoring: Zero incidence of pests (thrips, whiteflies, mites) within the area under high-density anti-thrips mesh. Periodic inspection of the undersides of the leaves is maintained to ensure the sanitary integrity of the canopy prior to the full development of floral primordia.

Mexicanasseeds MEXICAN SEEDS | FOLLOW-UP: DAY 14 OF FLOWERING (WEEK 2)
Project: Phenotypic evaluation in Multi-grafted Mother Plant (9 cultivars on Jarilla Sinaloa rootstock).
Physiological Response and Stretch: The 9 branches (Banana OG, Cookies, Gelato, Black Domina, White Kush, GSC, Skywalker OG, Critical Kush, and Cheese & Kush) maintain active stretch under 12/12. Variations in vigor, internode length, and structure are observed according to the variety.
Compatibility and Canopy: Mechanically firm graft unions, no wilting or rejection. The canopy shows heterogeneous vertical growth, well stabilized with individual staking and labeled for traceability.
Physiology and Health: Active tips of light green color and uniform mature foliage. No visual signs of pathogens, tissue collapse, or pests.
Fertigation: Maintaining the protocol in 50/50 Coco substrate with automated irrigation (8 micropulses, solution at 24 °C, and 20% drainage as baseline reference).
Conclusion: Second week successfully completed. The plant shows excellent graft compatibility and clear morphological differentiation between varieties.

Mexicanasseeds Update: Day 1 of Flowering (Photoperiod 12/12)
Project: Genetic Conservation and Phenotypic Evaluation in Multi-Grafted Mother Plant
1. Infrastructure and Environmental Management
Location and Facilities: Flowering in outdoor greenhouse.
Protection
Phytosanitary: High-density anti-thrips mesh for biological exclusion and prevention of virus vectors.
Radiation Management: 30% Raschel shade mesh for managing photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), reducing infrared radiation and mitigating thermal stress in the canopy.
2. Substrate Physics and Root Zone
Substrate Composition: Inert coconut mix in a 50/50 ratio:
50% Coconut Chips: Provides macroporosity, aeration, and prevents compaction.
50% Coconut Fiber (medium grain size): Uniform water retention and optimal Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC).
Rootstock
Base: Jarilla Sinaloa (regional landrace), leveraging its high root exploration vigor to maximize metabolic absorption in the substrate structure.
3. Fertigation and Hydroponics Parameters
Application System: Drip irrigation with 8 micropulses per day, automated with high precision.
Nutrition: Internal formulation hydroponic solution, adjusted to the morphogenetic requirements of the beginning of flowering (stretch).
pH Range: 5.8 – 6.0 (sweet spot for the bioavailability of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and chelated micronutrients).
Water / Solution Temperature: Constant 24 °C to ensure optimal levels of dissolved oxygen (DO) and avoid thermal shock in the rhizosphere.
Leaching Fraction (Drainage): 20% drainage per irrigation event, ensuring continuous washing of excess sales in the wet bulb and allowing for accurate monitoring of output EC.
4. Canopy and Grafts Status (9 Varieties): Elite Germplasm Conservation (9 Clones)
