Mexicanasseeds Update: Day 1 of Flowering (Photoperiod 12/12)
Project: Genetic Conservation and Phenotypic Evaluation in Multi-Grafted Mother Plant
1. Infrastructure and Environmental Management
Location and Facilities: Flowering in outdoor greenhouse.
Phytosanitary Protection: High-density anti-thrips mesh for biological exclusion and prevention of virus vectors.
Radiation Management: 30% Raschel shade mesh for managing photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), reducing infrared radiation and mitigating thermal stress in the canopy.
2. Substrate Physics and Root Zone
Substrate Composition: Inert coconut mix in a 50/50 ratio:
50% Coconut Chips: Contributes macroporosity, aeration, and prevents compaction.
50% Coconut Fiber (medium granulation): Uniform water retention and optimal Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC).
Rootstock Base: Jarilla Sinaloa (regional landrace), leveraging its high root exploration vigor to maximize metabolic absorption in the substrate structure.
3. Fertigation and Hydroponics Parameters
Application System: Drip irrigation with 8 micropulses per day, automated with high precision.
Nutrition: Internal formulation hydroponic solution, adjusted to the morphogenetic requirements of the beginning of flowering (stretch).
pH Range: 5.8 – 6.0 (sweet spot for the bioavailability of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and chelated micronutrients).
Water/Solution Temperature: Constant 24 °C to ensure optimal levels of dissolved oxygen (DO) and avoid thermal shock in the rhizosphere.
Leaching Fraction (Drainage): 20% drainage per irrigation event, ensuring continuous washing of excess salts in the wet bulb and allowing accurate monitoring of the output EC.
4. Canopy Status and Grafts (9 Varieties): Elite Germplasm Conservation (9 Clones)
Banana OG, Cookies, Gelato, Black Domina, White Kush, GSC, Skywalker OG, Critical Kush, Cheese & Kush.
5. Vascular Consolidation and Transition
100% consolidation of xylem and phloem tissues at the graft unions.
Complete water stabilization under the flow pressure of the drip system, ensuring uniform supply of the nutrient solution to each of the arms during the initial elongation.
