This little lady has yellowing leaves. I'm assuming it's from overwatering as it hasn't received any nutrients yet. I'll hold off watering her for awhile and see what happens.
Day 9 - The yellow is confusing me. It's barely getting any water and always dry morning and night. I'm going to try a spritz of water with some nutrients and see what happens.
Day 10 - I continue to spritz with nutrients and RO water. I think she's actually looking better today. Might be wishful thinking though...
Day 13 - Watered with RO in hopes of avoiding excess nutrients. She's looking better in regular lighting but still yellow under flash. A small amount of growth upwards and some vegetative growth.
Day 16 - Most of the yellowing did improve. I'm hoping that the super soil will provide some nutrients rather than adding bottled nutes.
Day 18 - Still baffled by the yellowing but she seems to be growing.
Day 20 - Growing day by day. No change with the yellowing. Haven't watered since she went into the pot. Soil is still damp but not wet.
Day 24 - Her colour is much improved! I had to spray her down with tap water to kill or remove any possible pollen that may have come from a hermie in a previous grow. 😳 She then got some RO water and a small touch of nutrients.
Day 26 - Watered with 1 cup of RO with some nutrients. No more colour issues (so far)
Day 28 - She was starting to show roots out the bottom of the pot so I transplanted her into a 3 gallon fabric pot and watered her with RO and nutrients. Three hours later she is already looking happier! 😊
Day 31 - A little upward growth and decent outward growth. Watered with 2 cups straight RO.
Day 34 - Some upward growth and a bit of outward growth. She seems to be healthy and showing no sign of deficiency or illness. Watered with 2 cups of RO and a bit of nutrient.
Day 35 - A scary day today! First time trying main-lining and I hated it! What an awful feeling to cut apart a perfectly good plant. I certainly hope it pays off.
Day 41 - She's recovering well from main-lining. Time to remove the leftover fan leaves.
Day 44 - She is slowly recovering from the initial mainlining. I'm waiting a bit to top again as the new bud sites are still small, maybe another couple of days.
Day 46 - Couldn't wait any longer. Topped again.
Day 49 - She's slowly recovering from the second topping.
The 2 original fan leaves were removed. Some slow growth after being topped the second time. Hopefully soon I can top her a third time and be done! Just watering with straight RO, no nutrients. The leaves look dark but I'm not sure why. Maybe the soil is giving them nitrogen or they are just naturally dark.
Day 60 - I adjusted the LST and watered with 2 cups RO water and some nutes. I'm trying to decide if I should top her again or just make do with what I have as a manifold. I get so impatient and it's hard to keep chopping these ladies up.
Day 65 - This little lady is slowly starting to fill out. Just waiting for some real upward growth before I put her into flower.
Day 66 - Before and after the transplant into a 5 gallon pot. Water with 4 cups of RO and nutrients. Hopefully she will be inspired to grow large with the extra room.
Day 68 - She seems to be doing good after her transplant into the bigger pot. Some upward and outward growth.
This is the last week of vegetation. I've watered her with 4 cups of RO and some nutrients in preparation for the switch to flowering. So far, she seems healthy.
Day 85 - The first week of flower. So far, so good. I watered her with 4 cups of RO and no nutes.
Day 89 - I did some light defoliation to help the light penetrate. Not much upward growth but she is fluffy. I watered her with 4 cups of RO and some nutrients.
Day 91- She only grew about half an inch in the last 2 days since defoliation, but I think she's filling out well. She doesn't seem to stressed by the damage. Week on of flowering is done.
Day 94- Flowering seems to have begun. She has grown a little taller this week and continues to fill out. There are several bud sites so hopefully she will make some beautiful flowers. Just giving RO water this week with no nutrients. The leaves on all of my girls are dark and always have been. Not sure if this is a nitrogen issue from over-feeding or if it something in my soil mix. Either way, she seems healthy so far.
Day 97- The pH of the medium was registering at 7.0 so I adjusted the water a little in hopes that a lower pH might help her out. She got 8 cups of RO as she was getting a little parched.
Day 100- Flowers are starting to form and growth is fairly slow. I'm hoping to get a good idea of the best training techniques by watching this little lady that was topped and main-lined versus my other Critical Mass that is a week younger but was FIMmed and then FIMmed again. So far the younger FIMmed one seems to be progressing faster with some good flower production. It will be interesting to see what the end results are.
Day 101- Watered with 4 cups pH adjusted RO with nutrients.
Day 106 - Watered with 4 cups RO and some nutrients.
Day 115 - She seems to be recovering well from defoliation. Her flowers are bulking up and the leaves are filling in again.
Day 117 - I can't understand why all (including the last grow) of my plants are dark green from very early on in their growth. The leaves are also slightly curled downwards around the edges. I don't feed much for nutrients, nowhere near the recommended doses. Today I have flushed them all in hopes of getting rid of any excess nitrogen. I'm wondering if I may have been too heavy-handed when mixing my soil and amendments. I thought that using organic amendments would be safer. Next time I think I will start with a basic, tried and true soil like Fox Farm and forget mixing my own until I figure this out. Newbie mistake! 😤
Day 123 - She's still recovering from the flush but seems to be filling out well. I defoliated pretty heavily a while back which allowed for some light to get through. I'd love to get more light to the bottom buds but I don't dare defoliate again this late in flower.
Day 127 - She has recovered from the flush and the buds are starting to fill out. I watered her with 1 litre of RO and some nutrients to help her fill out some more. The pistols are starting to turn orange and the trichomes are adding up. 😊
Day 133 - The pistols are turning orange and the trichomes are adding up. She got 4 cups of RO with a touch of nutes.
Day 136 - There are quite a few amber trichomes showing on the leaves but she still seems to be needing more time to fill out before harvest. There are sill a lot of white pistols too. It's a little confusing. I gave her 4 cups of RO with a few nutrients. Might be the feeding.
Day 138 - I decided to do some leaf removal to get more light down to the lower branches. I also adjusted the LST. Hopefully this will help.
Day 140 - She is recovering nicely from the trim. She has a few amber trichomes so I think we are coming to the end soon. Just watering her with RO from now until the harvest.
Day 144 - She has been flushed and is waiting for more amber trichomes before the harvest.
Day 149 - Still waiting. I hope to get some decent pics soon.
Day 150 - I tried to get some decent photos of the trichomes.
Day 154 - I flushed the ladies again as they still weren't showing any colour change or using up the nutrients in their leaves.
Day 159 - They are starting to show some slight colour changes. Hopefully things with wrap up soon, it was only supposed to be a 7-9 week flowering and we've gone beyond that.
Day 161 - Time to out the ladies into the dark.
Day 164 - Harvest day. She produced a decent amount of wet bud. I hope there is a reasonable amount of dry product.
@THCandME, it’s hard to wait for the plant to rebound and then grow enough for more training, I’m impatiently waiting too. I started training as soon as I could and it’s going well but my other plant that I’m just letting go is like 3 times the size. Good luck with yours, it looks healthy
@SativaKid, Thank you! Hopefully it will give some decent yields. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of extra time in vegetation to do it and I'm getting impatient.
For what it’s worth I always check the trichomes on the buds for ripeness, the leaf trichomes aren’t the indicator I use. As you flush those white pistils will darken quickly once finished.
I am thinking about getting some critical mass. They’re looking nice👌🏻
@SAC87, Thank you. I will have to remember to always focus on the buds. I'm new to this so everyday is a learning process. I think I will be flushing soon, I'm eager to get the harvest going!
Yeah curled down and dark green leaves is too much nitrogen. must be your soil. I am also growing two of the Critical Mass from Canuk seeds right now. They are in week 5 of flower. Did the same as you and manifolded. One I left only the 8 colas, the other I left all the side branches. Growing them in coco and Advanced Nutrients organic (just the base nutes),. My leaves aren't as green as yours, and my leaf tips are actually burning a bit and curling up. I added a bit of bat guano and molasses, so that must be what is causing it. Advanced nutrients is working really well, but I plan to go to Gaia green organic dry amendments for the next go around (hate mixing nutrients every day, I would rather just water when dry). I seem to go through way too much liquid nutrients for one grow, and the cost just isn't worth it.
@THCandME, yeah he seems to do really well with them. his plants always turn out great. I read that you have to watch how much you water though, because they are slow time release and you can wind up releasing too many nutrients into the soil. Id like to mention to you that Ive been watching your grow since you transplanted out of those jiffy cubes and had the nutrient issues at first. I think that stunted the growth by a two to three weeks atleast, and the nitrogen toxicity over time might be locking out other nutrients. On my Critical Mass from Canuk, did 8 weeks of veg and currently on 6 weeks of flower. You'll have to take my word for it that the plants are doing better than yours currently, just using coco and Advanced Nutrients organic base nutes, rain water and with some added bat guano and molasses here and there, PHed to 5.5-5.7. I dont have a grow diary up to show however. I recommend on your next go switching to coco (with perlite if you want) as im not sure whats in the soil you used (you could be adding more nutes than necessary and the coco ensures your on an even base soil to start), and also ditching the jiffy cubes and using a small seeding tray with coco to sprout them, no nutes to start. Ultimately, the plants you have now look like they are going to finish strong, they just seem to be taking a very long time. I am a beginner grower too so take all of what im saying for a grain of salt but just my recent experience growing along side you. Cheers!
@klak12, I was checking out the dry amendments too! Mr. Canucks Grow on youtube uses the Gaia Green amendments all the time and his plants are beautiful. Might be the way to go. Good luck with your nutrient issues. It gets frustrating!
