Starting my second grow of the super lemn haze strain. These three girls were the last clones I took from my SLH mother. One of these girls will stay in veg while the other two will be flipped to 12/12 lighting in 4 weeks.
Really looking forward to growing this strain again. I was blown away by the lemon taste and smell from the first grow, this is the first strain I can clearly taste and smell. She's my new favorite girl and I'm excited for this grow!
Week 1 went well, starting week 2 I removed the lowest branches and leaves. Hopefully these girls will grow a bit more during week 2 a little stretching wouldn't hurt right now.
Starting week 3 with good growth on all three plants but plant 3 is doing the best, she has the longest branches and I've tried them downwards. I also trimmed-off the lowest leaves and branch/future bud sights. The girls look good and I look forward to another week of progress.
Start of week 4, day 22. The girls grew tremendously during the last week, very nice branch growth, internodes and overall plant size. No trimming this feeding, just removed 2-3 dying leaves from the lowest branches. One of the girls is clearly shorter than the others, I think I will keep her in veg after this week and flip the other two to flower.
Start of flowering, week 1, day 29 for plants 2 & 3. Plant 1 will stay in veg, following same feed schedule as previous week's, but she will no longer be included in this diary.
Plants 2 and 3 look very healthy and I trimmed several lower branches as they were getting minimal light.
Start of week 2 of flowering, both girls were drooping heavily and the medium was dry and pots were very light feeling. Removed the worst leaves from each plant and a few large fan leaves. Overall, I'm very happy with the weeks growth and development.
Start of week 3 of flowering for plants 2 & 3. They are showing signs of heat stress, three days last week temps in the grow room reach 35°c. Aside from some heat stress, the plants still look healthy and the bud sites are developing nicely. Light defoliation of each plant, removing the dying leaves and some of the ones showing signs of dying.
Start of week 4 of flowering. Week 3 went well, even with temps reaching 35°c in the closet. I've since added another fan to circulate more air, temps have dropped down to 31°c. Despite the heat stress, the plants are growing rather well and bud sites are developing nicely. Light defoliation again this feeding. Based on the heat issues, I need to upgrade my exhaust fan, 100 CFM isn't enough to get ride of the heat.
Start of week 5 - plants almost died from extreme heat, unfortunately I was away for a couple days and came home to this. Plant 3 has not recovered after feeding and I may have to harvest her... really not worth it though, buds are not any size yet. I have a new 185cfm exhaust fan coming, which will replace my current 100cfm exhaust fan. Hopefully this will get my temps back into the safe zone so I can salvage one of the plants.
Start of week 6 of flowering. Plant 2, survived last week's heat stress and seems to be recovering well. With the new exhaust fan - vivosun 4 inch, 195cfm - my temps have not exceeded 35°c at any time I've spot checked. Hopefully no more issues or setbacks for the rest of this grow.
Start of week 8 of flowering, day 78 for the plant. She's healthy but the buds are slow to fill out in size, this could be the result of the heat stress she suffered. Other than that, I'm still happy with this plant.
Start of week 9, lots of leave are dying, but there was bud growth during the previous week. This will be the last feeding before flushing next Sunday. Some of thehe branches are very heavy, they twist and bend if not supported, hopefully that is a sign of bud weight and not weak stems.
Flush week, straight water flush and I expect to chop and harvest this coming Sunday, maybe Saturday depending on trichomes and how dry the promix HP is. Overall I'm happy with this plants growth, she survived a heat stress issue and has developed lots of bud. While not huge buds, compared to my last grow of this strain, I'm still super pumped with this strain/plant. Updates will come after harvest and after drying for final weight total.
Wasn't the best grow due to heat stress, but this plant still turned out pretty good. **Update** 106.1 grams dried bud, not the best grow, some bud is very dense and some is fluff.
This strain, plant took an extra long time to dry. Finally though, the stems snapped when flexed, so on the scales she went. 106.1 grams dried bud, 50/50 mix on nice bud small dense bud to fluffy buds. Oh well lol on to the next grow!
That sucks Well .Skin it,Freeze It, Bubble Hash it! Smoke It and move on. I always clone as a backup if possible and i got rid of 3 of those Canadian Tire Hum/Temp gauges they are cheap and garbage give it a shake and watch the needle fly around. Get a digital off Amazon Just saying my Canuck friend. But i am surprised that a LED 500w would produce that much heat. My 1000w HPS created 41c in my room during our Ontario heat wave I got not even a leaf curl. Hope your next Harvest is the biggest yet.😎
@Canadian_Bud, yeah it does suck a bit, but oh well lol! That's the way she goes sometimes! I have tried shaking that temp/humidity gauge and the needles stay put, but thanks for the suggestion! I now have a 195cfm vivosun exhaust fan, with it my temps have stayed below 35°c and the one plant that survived the heat wave is doing good. I'm not exactly sure why the heat spiked like it did, the power supply for my light is outside the grow closet.
Thanks, hopefully this plant produces decently.
@BarrieGrower, it is straightforward, I've never encountered a nutrient problem because of the medium. I open the bag, plant/pot with it and feed/water thoroughly.
I really dig the amount of space you've got. Mine are so crammed...
I've been on the other side of the temp scale last weekend with temps at night dropping to as low as 13C/55F.
@ThatsNotMe, I've had as many as 6 plants in this space (4x4) but found that the plants didn't grow as well. 4 Plants works well, but I'm finding 2 is plenty, given the amount of dried bud I've ended up with, when just growing 2 plants.
The high temps are definitely concerning, luckily the plants seem to be be handling it better than I expected they would.
Low temps can also be concerning... but only when they drop below 10C, that really seems to slow nutrient uptake, but can bring out the purple color.
