This grow is all about experimenting with yard compost and farm waste the he recipe is; coco husk ground to dust buffered boiled many times 60%, Sphagnum grade A moss 15% , used potting soil 10%, perlite 10%, chipped cedar bark 5%. All buffered and autoclave. The top layer is a coco husk mat that blocks the smell of soil.
Lights this week where 4x t5 6500k, "Johnny #5" LED light I put together from the past grow, 2X CFL 85watts,
Things where going well with this week. I know T5 bulbs are sorta old school and I can see why they need a great reflector and you have to get them so near to the plant to be effective that making sure they never touch is a chore. The 85 watt cfl is the same the light doesn't penetrate well. A friend gave me two sick plants so I will be changing the light config to accommodate the new plants.
The boring part is over, the plant takes in 1.5 gal of water every 48hrs like clockwork. Soil smells like crazy it's like in your face fresh soil smell at 10ft when you open the door, not bad or unpleasant but still there even with the vents going at 288cfm. Next week is bloom lights the big 1000 watt cool tube
I have always read that it takes good genetics to get purple. Just about the coolest thing watching it turn colors.it is hard to take pictures and capture the color right too.
I flushed 2 times this week to deprive it of nutes then I schwazzing the heck out of it waited 8 hours till it was bone dry and blasted it with 100% nutes with reduced cal-mag mix after this it took about 20 hours to see the buds gain about 15% more size. The foliage is showing the signs of stress I'm give it but the buds are doing what it want.
It is growing and turning out just like the last Auto (northern lights) I did like this. The new cool tube I got is amazing I can put the plant much more near to the light and it's not slowing down the leafs don't really like it but as soon as I moved it 5in closer I saw faster bud growth. PPM is ranging from 700-1600. drain ppm is 200-300 watering 1.25g every 24hrs 20% runnoff. PH i feed is 5.8-6 and run off is around 6.4. I flushed with FloraKleen once. The way i have been doing flushing is: wait till watering time mix 75% nute strength wait 3 hours flush with 2 gals ro and FloraKleen. wait 3 more hours and feed with normal nutes. When i was just feeding RO I was getting cal-mag and N problems right after the flush. Doing it this way seams to have fix these problems. Biggest problem I had was not mixing the FloraNova enough you really have to shake this stuff for like 10mins I'm not kidding I think need a paint shaker for the sloppy batch I have. I dried about .4Grams it was fire already
watered daily 1.25g feed nutes once every 2 days, flush every day. Tested one gram this week instant relaxation and a taste that is crazy good, makes your mouth water. zero dry mouth here. No signs of amber trichomes but they are finally clouding up to white (amazingly also red) and getting fat. Just so there is no confusion flower is under 1k HPS.
I have two more seeds but it will have to wait till next year I'm going to try some cloning. I also have 1.2 oz of trim and smaller buds that I will make bubble hash with since it's coming out purple and people this that's neat. Plant was under a 1k HPS but it was only allocated about 400watts of that. soil worked out ok
