Week Ending 06/25. Started these autos during the last few flowering weeks of my last harvest. I had been expecting the rest of my setup, seperate veg tent, to come in and of course it ends up late. Started with 5, 1 died off, and the other 4 struggled the first week, as keeping the humidity up was a pain. Got it corrected once flowering on the initial harvest finished. Germination started on June 18th, then planted in final 5 gallon pot (due to Auto).
Week ending 07/02. This week went much better, however the girls are showing signs of minor stress (deformed starting leaves) that I'm sure is a direct result from humidity control initially prevalent. They've all grown to be about an inch tall, and should work themselves out. Very very light watering as large medium container and don't want to end up overwatering them. In completely new setup for my 4x8 Veg tent, with 4 QB LED 255s; 2 of them utilized for this grow, the other 2 for another grow same tent. Turned them down a bit as I think full power may be too strong for the ladies.I also raised the lights a bit for now, will monitor, lower, and brighten them as needed. No nutrients, as FF Soil typically has all the nutrients needed for the first few weeks with autos. I forgot to mention that I used some root magic branded Mycorrhizae to start off.
Week ending 07/09. Still no nutes needed. Decreasing the light intensity using the dimmer on my QB's has helped a lot. The plants have totally rebounded and have begun to grow like crazy. Still only spot watering the 5 gal because I don't want to overwater the pot, and then have stagnant soil. overall, things are moving right along!
Pictures taken on 07/16. Plants have doubled in size since last week. The leaves have some strange shriveled like growing going on. Decided to add some cal-mag to their water and see how it takes, as they've been nutrient free otherwise. I also added some Blackstrap molasses more for the microbes in the soil than for the plants. Growth has been steady, wrinkling of leaves has been only on of the 4 plants. I added soil to the tops of the bags to help reinforce the plants stems, as well as finish filling the 5 Gal pot.
Week Ending 07/23. Really hot week, ambient temp was in the high 80s to low 90s all week. Noticed a small amount of nutrient deficiency starting to poke through, so switched to full nute regimen. Humidity has been a bit low, so sprayed the inside with some plain RO water to help bring it up. They were growing a tad slow for my liking, so I dropped the lights down a bit more. More light, and the nutes created a perfect recipe and they seem to be thriving now. I'm starting to think the one plant that has all the weird twisting growth is either a mutation or a weird pheno. Instead of getting a bit leggy like the other plants, its staid slightly shorter, and really bushy. no change in growth rate or anything, so I'm not too worried. We'll see what she yields. Plant heights do not take into consideration topping off the soil last week; add 2 inches for real growth difference.
Week Ending 07/30. Some of the lower, older growth had some yellowing to it in the beginning of this week, which I attributed to the lack of nutes. It has corrected itself by end of week; I trimmed off the discolored growth. The last few days of this week, the plans have begun to switch over to flower. All of the curled growth has since ceased, but hasn't contributed to any slow/delayed growth. All 4 plants were moved to their own 4x4, under an HLG 550 v2 3500k with the 660 nm. Lowered the light to about 25". At the end of the week, I did some minor branch bending/LST, and added some straw to the top of the soil bags to help reduce how quickly the lights were drying up the soil. Plants are starting to drink more, monitoring daily.
Week ending 08/06. At one point this week, I noticed that I may have underwatered a bit, but the plants fully rebounded. Seemed to be showing signs of excessive nitrogen as well, so come feeding time, switched to no nutrient PH'd water. Added a container of water to the 4x4 and it has helped kick up the humidity a bit. The shortest bushy plant has not seen much growth height wise, however is expanding outward and getting bushier. Finished off the week with some minor defoliation of yellowing growth and larger fan leaves that kept light from reaching bud sites. All in all, a great week for flowering stretch!
Week ending 08/13. These girls are really stretching out! Buds are coming in beautifully, however I noticed a tad bit of nitrogen toxicity so I went with plain Ph'd water and they're back to normal. Plant 4 is still veg growth only, with plenty of pre-flowers. If she doesn't kick over to flower by harvest time of the 3 other girls, I'm then going to put her under 12/12 and see if I can get her to flower! Plant 2 has grown way over plant 1 now, but they are finally nice and big! Having come this far, I'm totally comfortable with autos now!
Week ending 08/20. These girls are really starting to show their flowers. Plant 1 while being shorter than plant two, buds are really starting to fatten up. All of the bud-sites are starting to form more, and they all seem to be in a different growth stage, but just behind one another. Did some minor defoliation of yellowing leaves and fan leaves that were covering any of the budding sites. Rotated the plants within the tent. Still only vegetative growth on plant 4.
Week Ending 08/27. So this week was a struggle, but ended very well. Missed watering by one day, so the top most leaves got a bit crispy. Couldn't add nutrients because we ran out of PH up, so had to go with regular water PH'd down to the proper range. Did some light defoliation of the crispy leaves, and lowered the lights to 18 inches from the tallest plant and they're starting to fatten up nicely. Branches are getting super heavy, may have to support them at some point in the coming week.
Week ending 09/03. Dialed back a bit on nutrients this week, switched to nutrient feed once, then plain ph'd water the other two times since on average I water 3 times per week. Buds are getting super heavy on plant 2, so I had to support the branches a bit better, and will have to even more this week. I applied a light coating of neem oil to the top soil as my fly traps have shown there to be at least a few fungus gnats, nothing crazy. Did some light defoliation of plants 3 and 4, otherwise continuing to let them do their thing with minimal intervention. In order of "ripe-ness", Plant 1 is the furthest into it's flowering cycle, followed by plant 2 who's trailing behind just a tad bit in overall development. Plant 3 is lagging a bit behind plant 2, so I may end up leaving a bit of time between each harvest.
Week ending 09/10. Fed with nutrients on 09/07 (no Grow Big) and again with plain Ph'd water on 09/10. The buds are starting to really fatten up, and the leaves are finally starting to fade nicely. Trichomes are really starting to gloss over, so will check next week. May have to stagger plant harvest, as plant 2 appears to need 2 weeks, and plant 3 maybe three weeks? Had to support the main stalks as they were starting to bend under the weight of the buds which is always a good sign!
Harvested on 09/17. Had an issue where my de-humidifier tipped over and the tent hit 102 degrees for a period of 6 hours. Totally crisped the buds after only 3 days of drying, but have recovered significantly as of today. Harvested one of the plants a tad bit too early, and the result was some much arier buds. The ones that were ready are super dense, and I’m super happy with the outcome! Genetics were great, they loved to stretch, and were very forgiving for an auto. Prone to light burn with the LEDs but easy to correct. Overall, I’d 100% grow these genetics again!
