Those airpots are designed to enhance even drying when the medium is watered thoroughly. Plant roots naturally follow water, so if you water in as small circle around the pot, you are wasting the enhanced oxygenated effects of the airpot, as roots travel throughout in seek of water and oxygen from the air holes, it prevents the effects of becoming root bound, ie a lack of oxygen or airflow. I understand the hesitation the hesitation and I suppose you could over water plants in air pots if you really didn’t know what you’re doing, but I have seen even in studies marijuana plants do just fine in wetter than what most growers consider normal conditions. I think you should maybe try a side by side experiment and see what method works better!
