Plants are under 5 watt LED lights inside at night and most of the day. I gave them 2.5 hours of sunlight today, but the outdoor temps are 100° and up so I watch them very carefully. Watering with a little distilled water once a day. I'll start nutrients on day 14.

Growing well, still hot outside, but they get a full 12 hours of sunlight. I put them under lights at night inside my house. Water every other day with distilled water.

Day 17: Plants look healthy, nice green leaves, and good development. Still water every other day, and 12 hours sun 12 hours LED lights inside at night. I'm concerned they're too small for their age, but I've never grown autos, or photo period for that matter, so I'll just keep loving them and treating them like my other garden plants. I'm going to start nutes when they're big enough, maybe next week? We will see. Day 18: FIM this morning on both plants, I also gave very diluted nutes. Day 21: FIM is looking good, plants look healthy. I'm letting them dry out a bit per the advice of fellow growers on this forum. They started to flower yesterday, so I'm going to start adding diluted nutrients every 2 days.

I'm worried my gals are a little too small for the age, 17 days and only 3 inches. Is this normal? Also, should I start nutes when they're that small? Thanks for the help and the great platform!

Hey there gnome. Yes your plants are a little small for their age, bit they look healthy. When growing in soil you usually don't need to use any nutrients until around the 3rd week. I also suspect that you have been overwatering a little. You want to let them dry out a lot before you water. These plants like to have a steady wet/dry cycle. If they are kept too moist then oxygen flow around the roots will be poor and they won't grow very fast. But hey knowledge is power and we all still learn in this hobby every day. Don't stress yourself out about the beginner mistakes. Just take what you learn and as long as your next grow is always a little better than the last then that is progress! That is what it is all about. I will follow you on these. If you have any future concerns feel free to ask. Good luck!

Day 23: Start of week 4 and plants are in flower. They're about 4 inches tall, small in my opinion, but I'll wait and see. I fed them yesterday including Big Bloom for the first time, and it looks like they have a little nutrient burn. I'm going to taper the PPM back a little the next time I feed in 3 days and see what happens. They're still getting 24 hours of light, whether outside during the day or inside at night.

Day 28: Plants still look small, probably due to old seeds, but they look healthy, so I'm moving forward. I re-potted them into a 10 gallon pot today, and they will spend their first day and night outside without grow lights. I'm waiting to feed them until Friday, that way they can recover from the nutrient burn from a 10 days ago. Either way, this is my first grow and I'm learning a lot, so it's not a waste. Day 30: I fed the plants today with a small amount of diluted nutrients. They look really healthy, but still small. Based on my own research and the experienced growers that have contributed here, it's likely due to old seeds and my first time grower lack of experience. Even if they arent the huge buds I was dreaming about, I've already learned a lot, so that's worth something. Day 35: End of the 5th week. The plants look a lot better, they are doing really well outside, and even though they're small, I'm excited to see the end product.

Still growing well, they're healthy, so no complaints. I know they're in flower but it still seems so small. Still feeding once a week with nutrients, watering every few days seems to be fine.
