So this is week 5 of my first ever photoperiod grow. Grown 3 batches of autos so far with good success thanks to the excellent advice on here. Growing 4 plants in a 4x4 tent. 2 from Humbolt, 2 from RGS, including this one, the Royal Gorilla.
There's also a Barney's Farm Tangerine Dream autoflower in the tent at the moment, as I started these as I was finishing my last batch of autoflowers to save time.
I topped this one at the 4th node, stripping everything else below, then topped a second and third time to get 8 main branches (hopefully) using the mainline technique. It's been really hot here with temps as high as 90 last 2 weeks, so she's still recovering from heat stress - nothing major I don't think.
Once the tangerine Dream is finished in the next week, I'll add a first-level trellis to even out the canopy. Shouldn't take too long now to cover it.
Really impressed with this strain so far, and loving the way I can bully these plants in veg so much more than autos
The tangerine dream autoflower I was finishing off was finally ready and chopped today, which meant I could add the scrog at last. Will let all 4 plants settle after some pretty brutal HST for a few days.
This girl has recovered well from the signs of heat stress she was showing during the 100deg+ heat we had a couple of weeks ago - resilient girl.
These girls should be ready to flip to flower in the next 10 days as the canopy is about full. Will lollypop everything below the scrog after that.
Things progressed nicely since the last update.
All 4 plants are loving the environment. These pics are taken 9 days after the last update with calyxes (I think that's their name?) starting to sprout. I flipped the light schedule to 12/12 the day after these pics were taken, marking day one of flower.
Day 14 of flower and all 4 plants have stretched over a foot in the last week. Should start putting all of their energy into flowering now.
Looking really good so far. Really, really good.
Progressing smoothly. Starting to see a frost around the flowers. Very encouraging.
They're drinking about 2litres of water a day each and have fed nutes every watering.
Such a shame this plant and the Blue Dream CBD are under the 2 cheap 300W LED's. Can really see the difference on this side of the tent to the other side which has the 800W COB led. The nugs are far more dense and numerous on that side than this. Won't be using these LED's again, but they've served their purpose. Got a year out of them and they were peanuts. Time for better lights now, quantum board required for next grow!
Added molasses into the mix because I ran out of Terpinator and why the hell not? Pics taken day 49 of flower. Another 10 days or so and I'll begin the flush.
Started the flush a few days ago. Wish I had set up a second scrog. The branches are falling over under their own weight - hence the makeshift netting.
Chopped day 69 of flower. Exactly 4 months from seed. Weighed 396g of trimmed wet bud and around 1/4lb trim which will be made into bubble hash.
The buds are dense and sticky with good 'bounce' to them. Impressed so far with the quality and smell. Hopefully will be looking at over 1/4lb when dry. Will update with full harvest pics then.
Impressed with this plant. Only grew it under a cheap LED and it did really well. Harvested ~92G of prime bud plus an ounce of frosty trim which will be made into bubble hash. Will be interesting to see how much more it would yield under better lights. Nugs are dense, frosty and the hit from this strain is hard. Night time smoke. Will grow again.
EDIT: As it cured, this just got better and better. Best weed I have grown, even better than the Wedding Gelato, which was incredible. Popped another seed straight away.
Update after 12 days curing (See video): Gorilla gonna knock you out, son! Wow! This aint no friendly Disney Gorilla. This is a Dominant male Silverback with zero respect! These buds are dense and sticky after 12 days with a 62% humidipack in a Mason burping daily for the first week. Will def grow this again. Hardest hitting and as smooth as anything I've ever grown, too. Damn!
