This strain will be Blue Ice, and we are having a rough start.
I am a new grower and I am growing in a 4'X4' grow tent with a CMH 315W vertical reflector with a 3100K bulb with a Visosun 4" fan and filter. I began my first week trying to get the seed to grow. I used the paper towel method to germinate the seed. It was showing its tap root and I put it in Promix HP, my soilless grow medium. After 5 days I could see the tap root was rapped around the seed. I tried to reseed it in the medium moving the tap root away from the shell. After about a week I have have couple leaves but the stem against the medium.
I hope she will make it, only time will tell.
Well its the second week and I think we are going to be ok. I had issues with this seed at the beginning, I rearranged the tap root and was afraid it wasn't going to make it as it was so small. But it grew over an inch in the last week and has a few nodes now so it looks to be doing its thing. I installed some fans to give it a breeze, it's still a small so not sure it will help this week other than controlling the heat in the tent. I had to run the exhaust fan at full speed to keep the heat down as the CMH light is on for 18 hours making it hot in there. I added nutrients this week which I believe it gave it the boost it needed. I'm hoping it keeps it up in the next week.
The plant is doing well this week. It grew a few inches and I have a few new nodes. Next week I will be ready to start FIMing. I increase the nutrients this week and have been alternating just water and nutrients. PH is at 6.4 not sure in soiless if it should be lower but its seams to be doing well overall this week.
Week 4 we have lots of progress. The plant has doubled in size this week and is growing well. It recovered nicely from the FIM/Top I did last week. I am doing a bit more LST this week as I am pulling it to the other side. I increase the nutrients a bit, its should stay at this level until the end of the veg. Going to have to start thinking about pruning the bottom soon.
She has grown quite a bit in the last week. I was able to introduce more LST to ensure that there is space between the branch and even out the height. I think after this week we are ready to start flower stage. I will have to trim some of the leaves this week as she is getting quite bushy. Overall for a slow star it has grown quickly in the last two weeks.
Last week of veg and we have a fair amount of growth this week. The plant has grown 4 inches and we will now move to the flower stage. I will need to space our the branches to ensure that the light can hit all sides. It will be interesting to see how she stretches out.
First week of flower and we are progressing well. I can see the bud are starting to develop already which is fast. The plant looks healthy, I am slow transitioning my nutrients to the flower formula. Trimmed a few fan leaves but overall I am waiting a bit before I trim more.
Week 8 now complete, I have bud starting to form around the plant. I trimmed a few leaves this week to make room but there is a lot of fan leaves. I am not sure how much I should remove in the week to come to ensure that the bud sights get sufficient light to grow. She has got pretty big at this point I hope the buds grow fat in the next few weeks.
This week is progressing well, the buds are getting bigger, the plant to flowering well. I have removed some of the fan leaves this week to ensure that the is optimal light reach most of the bud sights. While trimming I did bend a few of the stems by accident and they are not holding up on their own. I used ties to attach them to the stronger stems, I hope that they will regain their strength.
My buds are growing, according to the seed info for blue ice she has about 7 to 9 weeks of flower time. So I am at the half way mark for flowering, I am hoping the buds will get bigger as we move closer to harvest.
This one is at week 11, I am pleased with the size of the buds at the moment. The top buds are getting nice and fat. They are spaced out tho and not filling in the colas but that maybe the type of plant. It also creating lots of new small leave at the bottom which is odd, I should it would stop producing new leave at this point. I don't know if I should just trim them all off at this point.
Week 12 the buds are doing very well, some of the lower ones are getting light now so I can see their hairs starting to come out more. I am hoping they will be ready for harvest since we are weeks away now.
Well I officially have spider mites, one day everything was fine and the other day well the buds were full of webbing with tiny specks crawling in the web. The plant was leaning over and dry. I applied a treatment to kill them and it turned the bud hairs brown. I assume that it should be fine by harvest next week but it looked pretty bad this week. We are a week away so the growth is mostly done I'm just trying to squeeze as much time as possible out of it as the trichomes weren't milky yet.
So overall I have a successfully harvested this plant therefore I see that as a win. Now I hoped to get 2 oz from this plant but the buds shrinked significantly when they dried out left less than an oz. I know that they were a bit too dry when I trimmed and put it in the jars as the reading in the jar was 30% for the RH but my tent was at 45% RH which was odd. I have since then put a small piece of moist paper towel for 6 hours and raised the RH in the jar to 60% which after a few days of burping its now back to 50%.
Lesson learned this time around I think I will do nutrients every watering on my next grow to see what it will do. I am purchasing a trellis so I can do a SCRoG and have more control on the high of the plant. I will flip to flower a week earlier if the growth is the same. I am not sure on how to prevent the mites, I plan on bleaching the room but if they come back that will be an issue. I knew I could get lady bugs, but are there any preventing maintenance that can be done to keep the mites out?
Also any recommendation on bud growth is welcome. I enjoy keeping this log and will be preparing to start a new one after the holidays.
Thanks and hope you enjoyed reading along.
