1st time novice grower in the Northeast with 600w Yintatech amazon shite using Miracle Grow "premo" potting soil (non moisture control version). The 2 D.Devil auto seedlings are lovely and lush green though growth appears slow. Filtering via ZERO water. City tap pH ~7.18 tDS = 130. Post-filter reading of 6.1 pH with a tds of 000. The girls are currently in 1 liter plastic containers which i feel may be too large and not wicking moisture away fast enough but it doesn't seem to be causing detrimental effects at this time. The Yinta kit came with 2 fabric grow bags about 2-3 liters in size, so a bit bigger than their current containers which I hope to be transplanting after a couple weeks of veg. After reading a bunch of articles on Royal Seeds regarding nutes versus indoor autos, im going to hold off on any additions until after the transplant happens. At this time im sitting on 5 total additives, pH up/down & general hydroponics' Flora Gro, Micro and Bloom kit. No funky fertilizers, no rooting additives i really want to see how the first 2 girls fare without bombarding them with chems. As for the staging area, they're currently leisuring away in a spare closet with the Yinta. House is pretty stable around 65 +/- 5 degrees F, day or night with good natural cross breeze. Within the next week or 2 I will be piecing together their main housing , my own interpretation on a stacking space tote design. I'll be sure to post the details and final cost as the build progresses. **Edit: Sept. 7th** After the past few days with little to no significant growth, I decided to set up a small space heater going at 70 F. It's about that time of year in the NE where there's a slight chill to the air in the early morning so my initial thought was perhaps its a metabolic rate thing due to low temps. Fingers crossed that the extra warm air circulation will allow the soil to dry out more quickly as well. ✋💀 Best regards, S

1 week post germ with very slow growth (indoor auto) I think the 1L plastic containers are too large & not allowing good air flow to the soil. If i wait for the mix to dry out should I re-pot ASAP ? Size up to fabric bags 3L or size down to Solo cups? ✋💀 S

The reason your seedling is growing so slowly is your temperatures and humidity are too low. Cause ing LVPD (Leaf vapor pressure deficit) This imbalance affects your seedlings ability to effectively pull nutrients through it's root system. Try to increase your temperatures to 77-78 with 60 to 65% humidity. Typically you should start your auto flower seeds in their final pot size they do not like to be moved. If left in small pot too long she will be stunted. Even though they are in larger pots you would water then like you were growing them in solo cups until they have,a large enough root system check out my current grows week 2 gives an explaination of LVPD with some links for more info. You can see my stategy for starting and watering auto flowers. Over watering can also cause nutrient absorption issues. Feel free to message me anytime. Hope this helps.

Played around with the set up a bit differently this week. Most notably i think my efforts to down size back to solo cups was the best choice. As for lighting, the girls are now generally on a 18 to 24 hour schedule with a distance of 16 inches from the "600w" Yinta LEDs. I remain skeptical about the fixtures actual specs at this time; but for now, these small adjustments seem to encourage growth even if they aren't rocketing along in veg. Watering is now done less frequently, with a good flush every 5 days roughly. - having no more than a couple CC's of run-off. Temperature has been oddly hot and humid here 80° F with at least 50% humidity, if not greater. We are expecting a huge drop back into the low 60s within the next few days so i'll be sure to keep a close eye on the ambient temperature and use the space heater as necessary. ✌️💀 S

Could any of you fine folk lend me some expertise and share some insight as to what in the world is happening to the stunted girl? Temp stable around 75 all week , decent humidity between 40 and 60 percent even without fussing around. Same water schedule no extra nutes. Going to re-pot for the final time in FFOF as the cups get a touch more dry into 2 gallon fabric grow bags, most likely by tomorrow. I was originally going to mix in extra perlite as I was anticipating it needing more, however my local coop garden store only had rice husks in stock so i picked up an 8 qt bag just in case. Going to do some more homework later and see if it does anything to alter the composition other than fungus gnat control and aeration to the mix. ✌️💀 S

After a couple weeks of slow veg I decided it was time to start using the Gen Hydro flora trio liquid nutes to "RO" water aka Zero filter in a 1 gallon solution. Ppm between 215-220, with a pH adjustment to bring it back to a 6.5 As you may be able to see, the very tip of one of the largest leaves discolored as a result but also shown signs of new growth at node sites. On the subject of which, Iwonder if it was height of the leds being too far away that caused the stem to stretch so much. If anyone can lend some insight as to why the leaves havent been showing significant growth I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thats about all i've got for this week, happy harvest y'all ✌️💀

How does one keep the nodal spacing tighter on the main stem, should the LEDs be closer? Her leaves also seem rather small for a plant with that heighth. #firsttimegrowerproblems

@Shakedown92 you are correct. Lowering the lights is a good way to control stretch. They farther the light the more stretch but also dont wanna be too close depends on how strong your light is. And for the other part I would recommend running good genetics from a trusted breeder. Do some research on which breeder is best in your region. You look to be doing good though keep up the good work. Goodluck 👍🏼

Yes, keeping the light closer will make the nodes really tight, but that can only be done if your lights give low heat, else you will give your plant heat stress. screw in led bulbs with the plastic cap removed work great for this. and you can keep them a few inches away. Also keeping the night and day temperatures close help in keeping the nodal space tight.

Added calimagic and armor si to the roster. I suspect a bit of Mg deficiency as one of the older leaves had been starting to twist and 2 stems had just recently begun to turn a darker shade, not quite purple though, fortunately. I think i caught it at a good time, granted Dark Devil is a strain known for its deeper hues which makes it even more tricky for a complete novice like myself. Also to note i think in my efforts to move the light closer as per last week's entry, the LEDs were too far in the safe zone for probably a solid 2 or 3 days. Combined with a 24 hour light schedule I would hazard that's what created the bleaching on the tips. Besides that, lots of lovely new growth at the node sites. That's all I've got for ya this week ✌️💀 S

Took to last weeks nutes like a champ, gained a healthy 4.5 inches in height with all her pistils keeping steady. Straight water this week, nothing fancy just want to give her a healthy flush from having 2 weeks in a row on low dose nutes. No further progression of the bleached tips so all is well. ✌️💀

Mild nitrogen toxicity still in effect from a couple weeks ago, leaves showing a deep green with a bit of waxiness to the shine and tell tale curl under. New growth seems to be growing normally however, so the past couple flushes seem to be helping. Bud development is slow while stem growth is advancing pretty rapidly, relatively so. Just waiting a few more days to start adding GHE micro & bloom nutes with a very minimal (.5 ml) amount of floragro and armor si.

Light bloom nute feeding followed by some fresh ph'd water containing only cal-mag as i spotted a bit of red on DD's main stem. Will follow up in a day or so with the second half of the nutrients that i had mixed previously. The aroma has definitely come a long way, not going to lie during the first few weeks of flower it had a bizarre odor of slightly off gym socks. Lately however, there's been a super pleasant development of some nice grape / berry notes that are absolutely fantastic. No purple hues on the main plant just yet but she has gotten a very faint straw color to the frost on her main cola. 50x loupe on the way, preferably id like to minimize the couchlock effect so I can still be productive and enjoy the inspirational sativa smoke post-curing. Oddly enough the haggard little sprout does have a bit of plum color on the buds. Mystery girl has shown her first white hairs and i suspect will begin to pre flower within the week. Super super light nute feedings since germination & shes absolutely loving life with lots of healthy growth. That's about all I've got for ya this time around. 🖐️💀

Hey everyone, so i think it's nearly that wonderful time to prepare for my very first harvest 😁 Some questions certainly remain, as i was expecting more yellowing of her fan leaves or at the least more purple (though there definitely is a hint of it hidden in the buds) I see the pistils on the main cola are starting to become more orange than white at this point yet the little buds near the base have not quite developed probably due to not employing any Lst for my first attempt thus light not reaching all the way down. Should a plant always be harvested in its entirety even though some sites are a bit "green" ? In closing i would estimate she may yield roughly half an ounce once properly cured which isnt a spectacular harvest, but hey.. Its half an ounce more than when i started so its all good 😛

Even though she has started blooming keep using veg nutrients and your veg light which is mostly a blue spectrum. If you use the bloom which is heavier in red spectrum it will lead to more stretching in your plant. Once she is 3/4 through her stretch then switch over to bloom nutes and lights.

I can't say for sure but that stunted one be careful with it. It needs to grow a bit before I would call it but I would suspect it could be a plant virus possibly. Don't freak out just yet. Post a photo next week from above the plant so we can see the leaves color and shape. Some times if they are strong growers and throw out some normal leaves it will look like it's out growing the issue. Just be careful wash your hands good and tools that have touched the plant to play it safe until we see what she gives you next week. I had one on my Blackberry Kush grow and there are a few more floating around GD with similar issues. Stuff like this happens when growing.

Ocean Forest tends to be on the hot side so be careful with it so it doesn't burn your roots. Most people mix in more perlite or coco coir etc. Some people will use it full strength no issues others swear it burned the hell out of their plants. Go figure. I would layer your pots with a stronger mix on the bottom half then go with a weaker strength mixture of FFOF and what ever you want to lighten up the nutrient content of the upper half of the pot. Only advice I can offer.
