I've had some trouble the past couple of days with over/under watering, I'm still not confident that I can differentiate between the two which has been causing me more problems! If anyone has good advice on how to diagnose or avoid it that would be very helpful. I'm not very happy with how the grow is coming along. It is my first grow so it's all been a learning experience, I've definitely learnt a lot that I'm keen to apply to the next grow and I guess running into problems and learning how to fix them is all part of the journey.

hey bro , i saw the Brown Spots, it does not look like any deficiency i know or saw , i think it is a sunburn it may be because 1. indoor plants does not have that thick leave Struktur like outdoor ones, so when u put them in sun directly ,it happens that the leaves get sunburns a little 2. i saw in the first week that your leaves were dropping water while under Light , this could be the reason too, u should never spray water on the leaves while under Light try do fix those both and see if you are gonna get more brown spots or not . i hope i was helpful :D

I've had some issues with over/under watering this grow (which is my first) and especially the past two days which is a little frustrating as I can't yet differentiate between the two, can anyone give me solid advice to identify and/or avoid under/over watering? Thanks!

I dont agree . In samrtpots to watr until there is a runoff is no good idea. Smartpots keeping everything very well together..... that means the water collects at the bottom of the pot. And does nt runoff. wateringregime is the hardest part indoors ( in my opinion) you can go with the potlifting methodof weighing your pots. : weigh/ lift your pots if you feel everything is dry ( knuckledeep dry and a dry bottom of the smartpot. remember that weigh and water your plants witharound 750 ml...... that should be good for around 2-3 days. then water gain if you reached the " dry weight" of the pot. I do it different, i tend to water everything but less. so i have a dry_wet circle ( a short one but there is one) and i can give them daily the average amount. Ive needed around 4-5 grows to find out a good watering regime that fits to me.

wateringregime is the hardest part of indoor growing. I do give my plants daily water.. but smaller doses.

@Mrs_Larimar, yeah it is hard at first, I'm still trying to dial in the amount to give them per water aswell as the frequency of waterings. It was all going okay untill this mistake, the ones I watered again that were already suffering from overwatering look so bad, not sure they're going to bounce back, they don't look like it! Scared to water them now haha

@littlecletus, Excess of nuts (as their dificiency) shows in the color of the leafs. I will be honest with you i never had problems at such an early stage. These are autos so you could say "it's a race against time" I would be wondering what to do. for sure only water now for a time of recovery but i would wonder on maybe repoting them for some time into less rich soil, but that is a risk on it's own. In the end I would probably just leave them and try to flush without hurting the roots.

@GanjaFarmerGrow, I just reread your comment, I hadn't given any nutes at the time these images were taken.

My recommendation won't be highly refutable butttttttt I do think there's 2 things going on here. 1 when is the last time you've seen the leaves reach for the sky instead of semi-droopy? I wouldn't water until you see them lift up towards your light and start praying (could be slightly too much water) 2 have you had any breaks between feedings? looks like the next watering you could flush them out with plain R/O water. Give them straight water at the correct PH and don't touch them until they look like they've improved !

@NattyMeds, thanks for the advice, I'm not sure actually, I wasn't aware that was something to keep an eye on? (first grow so it's all a bit of a learning curve at the moment) I noticed the tips started to burn on a couple of the plants so I've just been giving them pH adjusted water the past 2 waterings.

If you use a mix of 60% coco and 40% perlite well mixed, you should always be safe even in a redcup, fabriqpot, smartpot, rootpouch, rootpot and airpot. As long as the water can drain from the bottom and you let your girl drink, and the medium dries out a little bit you should be fine. Of course you can overdo it but its better to start with less if your not sure how mouch to water to feed in my opinion. Also if your ph is not correct and, the water is not gonna be ubsorbed by your plant and the medium also stays wet. But this is only what i have experienced. 👊
