Familiar strain, new diary. This is a Hash Plant clone donated by former GrowDiaries user Max Pointy. This is one of my alltime favorite strains. This is not a clone off of my genetics line, but I did give the Crop King seed to Max Pointy. Genetics are: Hash Plant.
Day 41 since being cloned. I see new growth sprouting, and trimmed anything too damaged. I had my pick of a litter and really liked the look of this one. I was confident to transplant and was rewarded with a look at beauty roots. I transplanted into mainly VPW20 soil, with sheep manure compost, worm castings, Myka microculture and a very small amount of blood and bone meal pellets.
The best part of Hash Plant is the potency. It is a STRONG indica effect. It has developed a notable reputation amongst my friends.
Day 48 since being cloned.
This plant is taking its time, but it is growing and regaining some nice green. I have the most faith in this clone of the new batch. All good, just be patient.
Overall, my tent has experienced a bad fungus gnat infestation. This is my first encounter with pests. Fortunately, this clone generally got lucky - not really effected. I have had sticky traps up, and I’ve used a pure ethanol spray, but if you want more information on this fly storyline check out some of my other grows. Seeing as the flies like fungus in the soil, and amendment, and indirectly attack roots, I think Hash Plant just got lucky. Oh well! I’ll take it!
Day 54 since being cloned. Just chugging along at a slow pace. Nothing much to report other than just water. The leaves are green and the plant is healthy. The old stem was deficient, but new growth is nice and green. Just patience needed.
Day 61 since being cloned. This plant is looking really good. I established a baseline by feeding by entire veg. tent a very dilute 24-8-16 All Purpose Miracle Grow plant food. I’ve never had issues with Crop King’s Hash Plant so everything is in line. Just trying to heal and stay ahead of deficiencies (purple, streaked stem). Good story so far.
Clone City is overpopulated at the moment but many will be moving to a new home at some point.
Day 68 since being cloned. I found this plant was a bit overnuted, and was already a little funky. More nitrogen will only continue that. Water and patience still needed. I haven’t transplanted wuite yet like the rest of the tent. Maybe next week. The plant is for sure growing, I’m confident. I actually defoliated to free up the canopy and get rid of the excess veg. The last few shots show this cutting transition.
Day 75 since being cloned. This plant is growing, slowly. There is waxy growth which tells me its healthy, in fact this plant responded the best to last week’s overall pruning. I will possibly transplant to the final next week.
The plant next to Hash Plant got spider mites. This has generally been the consistent neighbor. Not only does this automatically trigger all the stored nukes, aka 99% ethanol spray, I severely trimmed all the leaves touching or close to the other plants. You could see some specks on the lower Hash Plant leaves, migrated mites and eggs. Not only did I heavily spray but I physically removed the fan leaves with signs. The waxy growth which has been consistent through all of this is a positive and cause for optimism. The only side effects of the spray is brown splotching on fan leaves where it got soaked or didn’t evaporate quickly. Don’t worry.
Day 82 since being cloned. After being sprayed for mites last week and any infected or damage foliage removed, Hash Plant actually responded well from the pruning. It was sort of a clone in need of vegging anyway, so trimming old growth was only going to stimulate it. I tossed it into a massive pot until I flower it, unsure if I will train it or not.
To expand on details for the benefits of all, I’ll give the ratio of the final potting in addition to ingredients. Totally random and spontaneous that I just adjust over time, not scientific.
30 parts soil:3-5 worm castings:3 sheep manure compost:1 blood and bone meal pellets:1 alfalfa meal compost:1 used dried coffee grounds:1 pulverized egg shells. I also add Myke Herbs and Vegetables microculture. The soil is HP Pro Mix, and a few parts was the bottom of the bag of VPW20 that I am finishing. The difference being the particle size and the latter doesn’t have mycorrhizae. By pulverized egg shells I mean I rinse them, dry them, toss them in a mortar and pestle under they are powder.
Just water as there is amendment to carry me up to flower.
Day 89 since being cloned. Hash Plant has settled in and has filled out a bit. The leaf symptoms are a result of severe temperature drops. My house is waiting for a new furnace, I am without heat. Its November 10th and there is snow outside, soooo its getting cold. My basement is like 10 degrees. My tent is around 18 or 19 degrees because it runs 24 hours a day. Its much colder near the basement floor and surely in the root system. There is nothing I can really do because I’m already running a space heater to keep the fam. going upstairs. The install is in eight days... counting down.
All the plants have slowed in growth. Nutrient availability has shifted and this is the main cause of any symptoms right now. I don’t want to rectify anything until temperatures are stable. Plenty of amendment as Hash Plant was recently repotted.
I’m topping and defoliating as I see fit but I had to let it fill out again. Now growth has slowed, I will back off a bit. I’d like to clone at some point.
Patience? And hopefully warmer weather?
Day 96 since being cloned for Hash Plant. It is still subarctic at my place as I have no heat until early this week. The new furnace couldn’t come sooner. By now there is almost nothing left in my basement in terms of temperature, its frigid. My veg tent is just hanging onto 17 degrees or 18 degrees. The plant growth is slow and nutrient absorption low. Major pruning and defoliation for Hash Plant this week. I took a number of clones and really cleaned it up to stimulate growth. It also makes storing clones around the edges of the container, allowing better insulation for those small plants (who are struggling btw). Hash Plant was for sure thirsty when I took the pictures, I watered afterwards. I’m just hoping to get rolling here as Hash Plant still hasn’t really pushed out too much healthy normal growth yet.
Day 105 since being cloned. I have a furnace! The heat is running and my veg. tent is up like five degrees, this is a massive relief obviously. The plants have had five days to adjust back and are starting to look good. I’ll be flowering Hash Plant in a few weeks and so I am left with monitoring whether or not I want to feed liquid food before the flowering stage (which is not my preference).
Side note: though spraying the moonshine seemed to discourage and kill gnats and spider mites in my tents, my moonshine source unfortunately works away from home for days at a time and could not overcome the time away - it is only effective with persistent, regular spraying. So, he was forced to resort to more proactive methods which I reaped the leftover/tail end reward, i.e. he came over and gave me some. 1) Grub Grenade - ordered online. Hard to tell if anything is even active, nor if it even works. We are skeptical but it was immediate help for him. (They have a website grubgrenade .com) 2) at the recommendation of Hellish, he ventured to Halifax Seed which is a gardening and specialty cannabis shop. They ordered him predatory mites - Phytoseiulus persimilis, by BioBest Sustainable Crop Management. These guys were definitely active, and visible! Good success for my friend, and a good proactive clean sweep for me. I can say confidently I have eradicated any problems, especially spider mites.
Day 111 since being cloned. Hash Plant is a little haggard, with damage and discolouration everywhere. Its been in the large pot for a few weeks now and is starting to need nutrients. I’m just rushing everyone through ... why not?! I have more, fabulous strains on the way and I need the room. I will throw Hash Plant into flower tonight and start the feeding schedule tomorrow. Projected eight week flowering time.
Not really pictured is the army of ladybugs I am trying to establish in the tent for passive pest control.
Day 118 since being cloned. Hash Plant is one week into flowering, seven more weeks to go. Settling into the flowering tent I recently gave some 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato food and a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses.
The lighting in my flowering tent is Frankenstein, and reveals the slow history of getting into growing. I have the main no name full spectrum LED, then 6 yellow spectrum LED targeting the 500-800nm range and fleshing out the main LED’s spectrum, and a couple sets of fluorescents. I actually have ordered a duplicate LED, and will be replacing the CFLs this week.
Day 125 since being cloned. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. I got another full spectrum LED of the same type as my other. This will greatly help Hash Plant as it is now straddling both lights. The yellow is far more dispersed around the big boys.
Still lots of funky nutrient stuff going on. Hopefully won’t be fatal down the stretch (fatal for the leaves). Most recent feeding was 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato food with a popsicle stick deep of blackstrap molasses. Next irrigation will actually be the next stage of food.
Should be time for focusing on bud production now. I just want the potent indica from Hash Plant that I’m used to!
Day 133 since cloning Hash Plant. Three weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. Mixed week for Hash Plant, overall bad few weeks for my grow op on a whole.
I have struggled with temperatures in my veg. tent which has been my focus. My tinkering has forced me to shut off my output ventilation which has increased temperatures and humidity in my flowering tent. The first night I didn’t even think, and didn’t block the output vent and the temperature differential sucked all the heat out. It was 10 degrees at lights on. Then after I blocked it and watered my plants the humidity was jacked again.
Also, more negative, I have overnuted my plants. One has been devastated, Hash Plant is probably on the fringe of being damaged. I will completely cut nitrogen at this point. The nitrogen fade has be faster now for future plants, I may have caught it in time here. I fed earlier in the week before I noticed, but that will be the last nitrogen from plant food. It was 2-7-7 Shultz Cactus food with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses. I’m also trying out Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) and Earth Alive Big Blue Wave. I have since irrigated with water.
We shall see if I can get some bud and swell or if its too late.
Day 140 since cloning Hash Plant. Four weeks of flowering complete, four to go.
Since my nitrogen nuking of other plants I have cut the nitrogen out completely for Hash Plant. I went with some water and then most recently some 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), Earth Alive Big Blue Wave, and a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses. I have saved this one and things are looking great. Unfortunately, this plant is the hardest to get some shots in terms of tent location, so the pictures are not thorough. With the ventilation off I have been leaving the tent open a crack to battle humidity. Looking forward to the last half and getting some grow confidence back!
Day 147 since cloning Hash Plant. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. This is next in line in the overnuted gradient. Starting with a completely fatal plant, to badly overvegged, to dark green and underdeveloped - which includes this plant. I’ve made the mistake of not allowing the plants to use their amendment, and then repeated feedings, and you can see small overvegged buds with dark green still. One bud looks like it has a leaf growing out of it. What a waste of time. I am preparing to allow this plant to go substantially longer to try to salvage something. I have given water back to back times now, and the most recent was a large flush. I’m just hoping to get some nutrient fade so the non existent yield at least tastes okay. All plants after this one will benefit from knowledge.
Day 154 since Hash Plant was cloned. Six weeks of flowering complete, two weeks to go. The pictures are obvious, so much leaf and veg., and so little trichomes. Read back for the recap, but I tried to provide relief this week by majorly flushing, huge water irrigations. Hash Plant responded the least of the damaged plants, my guess is the short flowering time and the just lower tolerance to nutes in general. I hit it one last time today with 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom, blackstrap molasses, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), and Earth Alive Big Blue Wave. But, I will be concentrating on just flooding the soil with water for the next couple weeks (and indirectly my basement), and try to induce some nutrient fade and save the harvest. The smell is notably bad, I am assuming that is nute related.
Day 161 since cloning Hash Plant. Seven weeks of flowering complete, one week to go. Remember, given the overburn on soil amendment I’ll likely flower another week. Overall, there is no saving this plant from nitrogen. Its mostly leaf matter compared to bud at this point. I am beginning to flush with water and there is two weeks to give any last gasp swell. Bigtime failure if you consider a previous Hash Plant that I grew. Almost done at least.
Day 166 since cloning. Eight weeks of flowering complete. Apologies off the top for poor pictures, the update came in hindsight of some other factors, and I snapped pics at the last minute. A little delay as I’ve been busy, this plant has been generally paired with Super Silver Haze, both have been moved to harvest. My veg. tent is out of control space wise, I’m sure comedy to some who know me well, and was becoming a board game I couldn’t fit back into the box each time. So onward with the rotation. Additionally, I was surprised to find a mite colony on the Super Silver Haze. My speculations are in that diary, but generally spider mite diapause likely has kept things under control. So, two great reasons to chop both plants this weekend, reasons that I feel trump the gains I would make being extended. That being said, with flushing, the plants did make some gains in the final two weeks. Hash Plant now sits in the dark waiting for me to harvest all the subpar bud. Note: I had defoliated this week and exposed some buds, I should have done that more time before pulling for harvest. Ahh well.
A new review for Crop King’s Hash Plant. This was a clone that was given as a gift, but the genetics are from the original pack I purchased and subsequently gave my friend a seed.
The plant got through all the different rides, mites and pests, freezing cold winter temperatures, and overnuting. I didn’t realize how hot the soil still was and I just kept feeding liquid plant food with no restraint. The last mess up was a big one because excess nitrogen just nuked my yield. The buds were more leaf than flower. This plant did less well than others in nutrient recovery, I’m guessing because it had a shorter flowering time. Once found, I flushed for a period, and recovered some flavour. Overall, I composted much more than I kept.
The taste is bland, sort of harsh. The nutrient excess really comes through. There are very deep, hidden sweet tones, but I can’t get to it. I will say, I’ve overnuted much worse, and tasted much worse weed that wasn’t overnuted. Not much trichome production on top of the veggieness.
The potency is unaffected. Not as strong as some of my previous Hash Plant grows, it still is a very heavy indica. I really round this iteration makes me straight tired.
Disappointing ending on almost all fronts minus potency. I do enjoy mixing it, and the pitiful 8 grams was worth the 8 grams of effect, but at a “meh” taste. The big mistake was at my hand and I will live with it. Please refer to some of my other reviews for Hash Plant because in reality it is a very, very good strain.
Harvest was a standard wet trim and then hang. I bud washed, and found this did not effect taste or potency paired with another plant I also washed at the same time (while this plant was junk, that one wasn’t and went through the same process). I had two buckets: the first was baking soda/lemon juice/water mix; the second was water. I hung for about 6 days before entering bottled without the top, and then gradually into burping. Did not last long so this process didn’t really cure in that time frame.
Really interested in this specific grow. I like everything you do, but hash plant holds a special place in my heart and I'm looking forward to seeing how these girls work out for you. I have the full intention to grow hash plant in my next grow (after this one) and would love to see how things move along with this strain. Looking great man, keep it up and happy growing. Cheers✊
@@@BeanswithPork, Oh snap, didn't see the other diary. I need to look a bit harder. Thanks man, I'll go check er out right now.
Edit:GD man, more then one diary! Looks great, all of it.
@JinksyGrows, so far its my favourite indica, by far the strongest I’ve had. I had a dud get seeded outdoors most recently, but my indoor grow of Hash Plant before that was awesome (see diary). Nice red hairs and super potent.
I'm very envious of this harvest.... I need to get me some Hash Plant genetics. I don't know why I keep forgetting about it and putting it off. I know I want it!😄
