Whadup people!
Setup tools
-2x 60l tubs - had lying around for years
-1x led 5050 strip - around Β£15
-1x 12v fan - salvaged from a mini air hockey table & wired to a 9v USB charger (may add another when I can source one)
-1x Interfit cool-lite 5 photography light - acquired from a college auction
-Mylar/reflective material from a 70p freezer bag
Not yet acquired but to be upgraded
- 3x 100w CFL 6500k
- 2x 40w LED
- additional fan for airflow
- DIY carbon filter
- more mylar to cover all surfaces & probably paint the whole outside black to reduce leakage
I will of course be making improvements to the design as I go along and once I feel I have the right setup I'll build another and probably do a tutorial. Any advice on how to improve this setup and anyone interested in donating some seeds to see how they g et on in this JANKY setup please get in touch and I'm happy to share with anyone how I went about building it just drop me a comment!
Thanks for stopping by and happy growing!

@LawAbidingCitizen420,as long as air temp isnt too high you should be right. my babies are kept at around 29 in the room but leaf temperature is more like 30 -31 Celcius btw if you can't get it down to 25 but it doesn't rise above 31 you should be fine. π And I can see an intake fan but do you have out take hole?? If not you will definitely need one even if you don't have another fan just a hole the same size would benefit you alot in keeping temp down
@Coconuts, yesss airflow 100% been trialing on & off and I think another fan is needed, temp gets a little warm after a few hours. *goes away to find inventive way to cool air*
@LawAbidingCitizen420,I'm pretty new to indoors myself mate but I can imagine 4 small l.s.trained plants going well in there aslong as your onto it with your light distance and airflow ππ
@laBOSSANOVA care to give your thoughts on this? Your knowledge of PAR & VPD is appreciated.
I'm thinking my main issues are going to be temperature/RH and I was CONSIDERING trying a kratky tub type setup in the bottom but don't want to come back to a dry evaporated tub and some crispy plants! So I'm unsure....but baby steps...
@LawAbidingCitizen420, careful the root zone is nice and isolated from light though... cant wait to see what the hydroponics is like, @dilligaf loves this stuff check his out too π
@LawAbidingCitizen420, i love it man, i think the CFLs work great for seedlings and most of veg, but nothing's really stopping you from throwing in some fatter lights in flower, afterall we all change spectrum for the flip dont we?
