Week One - She and her sister are behaving almost identically. Lucky or really stable genetics? I'll assume from previous Mephisto grows the latter. She's getting wrinkly and has skinny leaves, just like sis.
Day eight - She and her sister are so similar I can get the photos mixed up! Again with the skinny leaves. I know from my first grow that these girls seem to grow on the larger side, with ball shaped buds rather than thickish colas. We'll see how she does in coco!
Day 14 - Looking good! She seems to be stretching her leaves a little more than her sister.
Day 15 - Another healthy, happy 3 Bears! She's holding up well and maybe a little hungry? I don't want to up the feed much at this point so I may increase the frequency of feeds, to see if she's just a little peckish.
Day 19 - The girls are now starting to be bent under the net. Let the training begin!
Day 21 - Just like her sister, very similar. Slower than the other girls in the crop but destined for hugeness.
Day 22 - Into the fourth week! She's doing fine and responding to her training well. Like her sister, she's growing a little more slowly than the other girls in the grow but that's normal for 3 Bears it seems. Decided to dust cinnamon over her medium to protect against some little black flies I've seen around. Also put up some pest sheets.
Day 28 - Much like her sister, she's growing well, and her thinner leaves make her a little more manageable to train.
Day 29 - She's got a lot more bulk than her sister and is doing really well. I really like 3 Bears and it should probably become a permanent part of the stable in my grows, along with the Sour Cracks.
Day 35 - End of week five! It's probably because she's next to a white wall that she's bigger. All of the back row girls are a bit larger than the front row. Just kind of figured that out. She's thick, sassy, and full of beans AND I LIKE HER JUST FINE.
Day 36 - Beginning of week six! She's on the back row, so she's a bit of a monster at this point. Very trainable, very easy to bend around, and growing like lightening.
Day 42 - End of week six! Flowering has begun!
Day 43 - Into week seven! The entire grow is passed all the smaller bumps in the road at this point, and everyone seems to be fairly robust. All girls are showing off sex and the vast majority are starting to go pom pom on me. Flowering is AWN. Rolling slowly over from Maxigro to Maxibloom at this point, as all the girls started showing (very early) phosphorous deficiencies on the lower fan leaves.
Day 50 - Hey! We're on week eight! All the girls are doing well. The DWC girls asked for some special care over the last few days and got it. (Just a reservoir refresh) All of the rest and doing just peachy!
Day 57 - The Beginning of week nine! The girls have gotten a carpet bombing of treatments for a heretofore mild fungus gnat issue. I have ONE soil plant in the grow, and that seemed to have been the instigator of the issue. Mosquito Bits once a week and Neem Oil in their feed will hopefully knock them out fairly hard. The plants haven't shown any sort of signs of impaired growth so I'm pretty sure I've headed it off before any sort of real issue can evolve.
Week Ten! The grow is going well. The fungus gnats are nowhere to be seen apart from on some yellow sticky sheets, and every girl is flowering up nicely. Aggressive defoliation and dead leaf removal is happening on their underbellies every day now. Things are looking great!
Day 71 - Into Week Eleven! It looks like this grow is going to go a little longer than the previous two. The combination reason is that I've got the lights a little bit higher in this grow, and the overall temperature in the grow room is averaging fifteen degrees (F) lower than the last grow. It's much easier to keep my grow warm than it is to keep it cool, and the Spring/Summer grows ran upwards of 85f at points, for days at a time.
This grow has been sitting at a solid 72f the entire way through. As a result, humidity is better, growth is larger overall, and they're just gonna go a couple weeks longer than the last grow. A fair trade AFAIAC.
Both of the 3 Bears girls are freakishly huge and getting fatter by the day. The front girl is a little behind the rear girl, but they are both HUGE.
Day 78 - The grow is nearing the end! The Gold Glue DWC will be harvested this week, along with anyone else who looks ready. (I think it's just gonna be her, but her Coco sister is on the edge as well.)
And here we have another monster girl! 3 Bears is a treat to grow, and I love how bushy they get.
Day 83 - She's a hum-dinger! 538.4 grams of wet and half of her is still sitting in the grow! As with her sister, her stems aren't quite strong enough to hold up her girth, but she's a fat and sassy girl with the makings of a fat and sassy yield! More to come right here as the harvest progresses.
Day 97 - Final numbers and photos are in! Due to lack of space I couldn't keep the two 3 Bears separated during the dry time, so I'm splitting the difference on final weights. It's a nice, round number at 400.09 grams of dry, or 14.11oz between the two plants! Seven ounces per plant is nothing to scoff at so I'm a happy camper!
What do you think those flys are fungus gnats? I was using Roots organic original soil loved the soil but every bag I had bought was loaded with fungus gnats. I won't buy any soil that has holes in their bags or that contains any beneficial microbes or mycorrhizae which they feed on. I've been mixing my own the adding my own microbes. If they show up it is usually once you start adding more water to the tops of the pots. Past 2 grows I used Mosquito bits, diatomaceous earth and a 1 inch layer of Gnat Nix to the tops of the pots seems to work out well by drying out quicker than the soil. That with sticky yellow traps kept them at bay no major issues.👍
@Hexus, With the monsters your growing you have more than enough weed to sample for the best tasting strains. I see a lot of growers using that Green Buzz liquids wonder if using organic nutrients can achieve the same effect in coco rather than growing in soil. May have to try it out sometime.
@Hexus, I seem to be adding more coco to my soil mix maybe I will try straight coco at some point. Just don't like to have to ad nutes every watering. Weed grown in soil seems to have better flavors in my opinion.
@MaxwellSH, I've got three, 320w Shenzen Meiju jobbies, the big forty inchers, a ChillLed 100w Puck and triple Cree Cob 63w (192w total) total working as a combo to get another 2x4 grow.
The Grapefruit was grown under the Cree+ChilLed setup.
Really nice outcome only thing I'd recommend is do some defoliation while flowering. Will give you less of a trim job later + the buds will get more light and eventually mature better in the lower branches section.
Hope you enjoy your work 😊✌️
