CaliXX Here’s a Grape Jelly CBD run, and an overly-detailed history. Around 1998, we acquired a strain called “NL5 x Purple Indica” in seed form. Back then lineage really questionable, and this one was a true mystery. They came in hand-labeled vials, not breeder packs, and we didn’t order them; they were a substitution. We had seeds we sourced directly from banks in Amsterdam, as well as local cultivars, and some randoms like these. Most of the California product at that time was superior to the Amsterdam genetics. (our favorite Amsterdam strains primarily traced back to California originally anyways, buts that’s another topic). The “NL5 x Purple Indica” was grown along some true NL5 straight from Sensi, and generally showed few similarities with the true NL5. At that time the early original Greenhouse iterations of White Widow were dominating the world, and that’s what we, like almost everyone else around us, were fixated on. Out of a handful of those unimpressive “NL5 x Purple Indica” phenos, and alongside true Cultivars straight from Amsterdam (White Widow, Jack Herer, NL5, Afghani 1) and a number of Bay Area strains, one pheno really shined It had the sweetest unmistakable Grape aroma, and developed a massive center cola with dense flowers. This was the only purple selection of all the seeds. In a stroke of unparalleled genius, she was dubbed “Grape Indica,” and was stabilized. The bouquet was truly special at that time, and opened our eyes to the “sweet side” of Cannabis. And the effects were also unique. Amidst the rush to turn every strain into white widow, all of the breeders in our universe were vying to make the most potent, tinfoil-hat cannabis possible. If a strain could induce a state of schizophrenia, that was the breeding stock. This level of potency is not always the goal and we found for personal use, the grape indica was the “breeders stash.” It was calming, relaxing, we could still function without losing our keys in our own hand for an hour at a time. What we didn’t know at the time was that CBD was the key. Maybe consumers wanted potency in order to get more bang for their buck, while producers didn’t lack for product for their own use and could choose the appropriate product Over the next decade, we refined the strain a bit, and seeds made their way into the the hands of a few breeders in North America. We didn’t touch it for years until we started playing with Autos. We believe in autos unequivocally for their niche, and are making some of our own using some heirloom strains. Autos are so fun an easy to grow, but the breeding process is a lot different. The Auto Version, now dubbed “Grape Jelly CBD,” is now almost a pure CBD cultivar. She retained her grape aroma, large central cola, and inherited autoflowering and slightly more CBD. She’s extremely easy to grow, is pest and mold resistant, and finishes within 70 days from seed. Aesthetically beautiful, with a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, and lavender coloration throughout, she could stand alone for a hobbyist as ornamental cannabis, based purely on her beauty. She’s very uniform and doesn’t stretch much, but under the right conditions, which for us is organic soil and light feedings, she’ll produce an easy-to manicure 18”-24” central cola, and is well suited for a SOG setup. Below are pics from colas that were ultimately seeded for our personal archive.

Great history!! I don't understand that rush for 30% thc hemp... It's becoming somehow hard to explain my friends that CBD is not for sleep, but it gives the capable chance of using your brain while high! I see people saying "this weed is the best, i couldn't function after smoking half a medium joint". I think it has to do with the desire to become lethargic and not active... Nice to see that you've found your old "friend"... Wish you a great grow!! Have a Shroom ! ! 🙌
