Soaked her for about 48 hours until she cracked then she was placed in a rockwool cube that was prepared by soaking overnight in pH 6 RO water. I put them on a bed of moist perlite to help balance the moisture in the rockwool. She will be transferred to a dutch bucket when she is ready. Will update photos when she breaks the surface which will mark day 1. Very excited that fastbuds is working on bringing us some old school strains!
UPDATE: 5 days from the initial soak this girl is up and ready to grow. I built a compact 2 plant dutch bucket system. I needed something that didn't take up a lot of space and that can be easily moved so the (2) 2.5 gallon buckets sit on top of their 17 gallon reservoir. Using an aquarium powerhead to pump nutrients 24 hours a day. A small air pump keeps the reservoir oxygenated. Buckets are lined with 120 micron paint strainers and filled with 100% perlite like always. Drain is set a little above the bottom of the buckets so they always have a little reserve water in case of pump or power issues. I will run the system for 24 hours to make sure ph is stable then this little beauty will be planted. The FBTO1 will run next to a FBTO13.
Day 4 her color is darker than usual. Dark green leaves with a deep purple stem. One of the leaves is curling down a little but she is looking ok.
Day 7 she is growing. Looking happy.
She is growing well. The curled leaves have perked up. Started her on a little maxigro. Will add some humic acid and armor si at the start of week 3. She is still under a 23w 6500k cfl. Will put them under a galaxyhydro 1000 in a couple days.
Day 11 starting to see noticeable growth daily.
Day 14 did the first water change
Nutrients per gallon
.5 tsp maxigro
.25 tsp armor si
.25 tsp calimagic
Ph to 6.0
This girl is small for day 21 but looking healthy. I think lack of air flow may be slowing them down so I added a fan. I was going to just do a little lst on these testers but I have never grown a plant without topping it so on day 15 I couldn't resist and topped her.
Nutrients per gallon
.5 tsp maxigro
.25 tsp calimagic
.25 tsp armor si
Ph to 6
Pumping nutrients 24/7
Under a galaxyhydro 1000.
Gave her a flush and fresh nutrients today. She is doing well growing steady. She is showing a couple pistils. Hope to get another couple weeks of veg before she decides to flower.

Ph to 6.0
I had to kill one of my photoperiod plants because it was hermie so I decided to move the FBTO1 and FBTO13 into the room with them since I had space in there. So now they are on 12 hour light and they seem to be much happier with the environment. This will be my first time flowering autos on 12 hours so curious to see how they do.
Nutrients per gallon
.5 tsp maxigro
.25 tsp armor si
.25 tsp calimagic
.1 tsp 90/10 humic/fulvic acid
The FBTO1 is on the left. She is transitioning to flower and stretching pretty fast. I have been plucking some leaves from the top to get light to as many buds as possible. Also cleaned up a few lower branches that were never going to make it to the top. Going to keep plucking a few here and there as she stretches. I totally neglected their water running it 2 weeks without checking it, but I kept an eye on the leaves and there were no issues. I gave them a flush and fresh nutrients today. Started them on a little maxibloom. Will probably start some liquid Koolbloom next week. Excited to see what kind of flowers this girl puts on. She is under a galaxyhydro 140 watt but there is 1000 watts total led running in the room so she is getting some extra light from those.
Nutrients per gallon
.5 tsp maxigro
.25 tsp maxibloom
.5 tsp calimagic
Ph to 6.0
This one is stretching more than I was hoping since I don't have much space for her to spread out. She is starting to smother the FBTO13 next to her. She is progressing in flower nicely though. Been doing some defoliation daily to open as many budsites as possible. This girl could grow huge if I had the space for her but I think she will put off some nice buds. Just going to keep the nutrients pumping and see what she does.
This auto AK put on a pretty big stretch and she is starting to build some buds now. Fastbuds has some awesome strains in their soon to be released Original line. Check them out on their website if you haven't already. Still have a major lack of space but my purple punch cookies will be ready to harvest soon so I will be able to get them some more room. I wasn't sure how well these would do on 12 hours of light but they seem to be doing pretty good. I upped the maxibloom a little. Not much else going on at the moment.
This poor AK has been crammed in the corner like a sardine but I was finally able to get her moved today so she has a lot more room. I did some defoliation on her, cleaned up some lower branches, and spread her out a little to try to get more light into the buds. She needs more work but I am going to give her a day or 2 to settle in. I also hooked her up to my photoperiod system to see if she can handle the nutrient level. We all know this is a no no but I wanted to give it a shot before I have to move the other auto reservoir I have going. We will see what happens over the next couple days. She is steadily building buds and looking pretty good considering the situation she has been in.
This one has been hooked up to the same system as the photoperiod plants for a week and she seems to be handling the nutrient level pretty well. She has a little burn but all of my plants do so nothing out of the ordinary there. I see some of the calyxes starting to fatten up a little and she is making steady progress. Will probably be backing off the nutrients a little in a few days since most of the photo plants are nearing harvest. It is basically like a juggling act. Just trying to keep everyone smiling. 🤡🚿
This auto AK is chugging along. Don't think I will get her to her full potential since I have been trying to adjust feed for autos and photos in the same system. But all in all she is building some nice buds and some decent frost. She still has some time to go. Hoping to see a lot of swelling in the next week.
This girl is looking pretty nice. Buds are starting to fatten up and trichomes are getting pretty cloudy. Figure she will go another week of so before flushing her. She is definitely getting too much on the nutrients but she is handling it ok for now.
I kinda put this girl through the ringer with lack of space and trying to juggle her feed with photo plants, but she took the abuse well and never skipped a beat. Really earthy on the flavor reminds me of sauteed mushrooms and she is delicious. Really packed on the frost and the buds have so much resin they tend to flame up when you light a bowl. I would call the high a nice balance of head and body. Hard to put into words but the smoke is killer. I could see this as a great strain for beginners since she still produced pretty fat nuggets in less than ideal conditions. Fastbuds has done it again, glad they brought us some old school!
@Njaak, I run (2) 6 inch airstones in my big system. I thought a small air stone would be good for this little one but guess wasn't quite enough. You definitely want a lot of air for your dwc.
@Wicked_Stix, I've wondered about air. My big bin I was thinking of using 2 but the local hydro store dude said no need. I may go with your experience ;)
Hey man, thanks very much for the inspiration. Your system is truly elite. I have been interested in trying manual hempy style somewhere in 2020, I have to say that this looks superior with recirculation and automation.
Is this the small kind of perlite you are using? (Instead the 'chunky' stuff)
I heard it breaks down into pieces which are too fine over time.
BTW, how do you deal with the ( I assume) rising PH that results from aeration? adding more phosphoric acid?
@BillMonroe, I wash and reuse what I can but I lose quite a bit from washing it. Mine stays moist but it does get crumbly when it is dry.
And yes I have tried fox farms and a couple other brands. Even boosters like beastie blooms will make the ph fluctuate. General hydroponics maxi and the flora are the only ones I have found that run steady consistently. I like the maxi because it is much cheaper and you can actually run the grow or bloom alone without any boosters
@Wicked_Stix, Sweet. I assume you reuse the perlite. And did you have PH fluctuations with different nutrient lines? :O
i mentioned that about the perlite 'breaking down', i have to wonder if that happens from it 'drying out' and remoistened all the time. Yours must be continuously be as moist as it can be.
Super interesting, thanks again
@BillMonroe, I just use regular perlite from my local garden center. I use 5 gallon paint strainer bags to line my buckets. It keeps the perlite from running into my reservoir. I have done a lot of testing on different nutrients. The maxi nutrients and boosters I use run stable. It runs stable with no fluctuation. I have ran the same solution for up to 2 weeks with zero change in pH.
@mr_h_kovert, Thanks. I think this strain has even more potential than I got out of her if grown on a better feed schedule. These buds flame up like fresh hash though.
@Mr_Weeds_Autos, Yeah all of the autos I have ran in dutch buckets get pretty big. Excited to see how they finish up. Going to be running several more of the fastbuds original strains after I finish this grow. Good luck with your grows!
