Welcome to the best part (in my opinion) of growing, week 8 pre flowering. I've done some light last minute defoliation earlier in the week so by the time week 8 has arrived, it would have recovered from most the defoliation in order for most of the growth sights to be exposed and hopefully will stretch in the pre flowering stretch that i'm anticipating. The only issue i'm concerned about is if the light is giving enough space for what i think might be a tall growing SoG type of flower so to be extra cautious, I've invested in a couple pair of grow light hangers that will give these plants the space it needs when it might possibly double in height when flowering starts. I've also invested in a new grow light since the first Vivosun 300w light was a budget friendly choice and wouldn't give efficient lighting for the plants since it comes in a full spectrum instead of VEG and BLOOM adjustments in the Viparspectra TC450 LED light that I'm going to need in order to produce a comfortable bud growth environment. The hangers are a great help in spreading the light evenly across the canopy since i'd only been able to rise it so much with the factory clip hanger it came with that was attached thru the same hole as the ducting on the tent to a a pole outside of it which wasn't good in terms of keeping the tent completely sealed from outside elements.
The canopy isn't as even as I hoped it to be probably due to its long recovering periods from defoliation and possibly nutrient/pH fluctuations but now after leaving these plants alone after that week of trimming fan leaves and even with a light defoliation afterwards has made these plants look healthier and grown into a satisfactory height, i'm ready to start flowering and will be switching its light schedule to 12/12 from now on. The light I just bought comes with its own timer and a programmable VEG/BLOOM spectrum (with remote!) that will come in handy in the next couple months. I'm a little worried about the temps and humidity as it starts to pre flower but I can always turn up the inline fan for more air circulation and pray that the plants don't hermi from the leaf stress or mold from high humidity. If anything I will have to switch out the humidifier for the dehumidifier to regulate rH. The nutrients for both of them will be changed slightly with the FloraGro being cut down to .5 and every other measurement staying the same. In the next following week, i'll try my hardest not to disturb the plants from giving birth to these magnificent bud sites and watch as they turn into great bouquets in the coming weeks, see yall next week!
Congrats on the successful harvest. Those are some beautiful buds. Been sitting on a few packs of these but after seeing this I may need to bust them open. Nice work my friend.
Hello my friend I have a question what week did your gelat OG plants start producing trichomes? I’m currently in flower week 4 and I have NO trichromatic production
@Gutismoke102, Hello buddy, sorry i took too long to respond, i'm starting a new grow this year and just logged in after a long time. You should start to get trichome production around that week if not later, if not then I suggest giving your plant more bloom nutrients to speed up flower maturity, best of luck!
@JohnnyLong, thanks for the heads up but theres no option to list a switch to 12/12 as a technique, yet oddly I can list it on a separate week log, so thats what it means..
