11/2 - Soaked seeds overnight
11/3 - Soaked 2" GroDan Rockwool cube in 5.5pH water, drained, then soaked in 5.5pH water with .5ml/l GH RapidStart. Placed seed inside (no paper-towel method, this time).
I plan on using the GH Flora Series Performance Pack on this grow to compare usage against the DynaGro line I'm using on another grow. I had purchased the GH set just prior to being donated the DynaGro line and I have enough of each to run two plants in dwc with each line to compare. I'll be starting at with 25% dilution of the recommended dosage of base nutrients and increasing up to 50% dilution before deciding whether or not to go further. This will be my first time using any GH products other than RapidStart.
11/8 - Moved her to the separate propagation section of my tent and placed her under 2' 4-bulb T5HO Fluorescent fixture, approx 3-4" height.
Thanks for stopping by my garden! Regular updates are always on Sundays and other mid-week updates occur all the time. Stay tuned in and, as always, Happy Growing!
11/12 - Technically, today is Day 6 since germ, but it is the start of the second week since I started this run (seeds soaked on 11/3). Choose your own timeline, but this is how I am choosing to document this grow.
Anyways, on with the show.
Not a ton to report this early on. Temps are a little chillier than I'd like just outside the grow space, but currently still manageable. I will be further insulating my grow space over the coming week, so those temps should stabilize and improve my tent conditions before she goes into a bucket. She's about an inch tall and an excellent healthy green color. I am curious to see how the GH nutes treat her over the coming weeks. The aim is to start her on 1/4 strength nutes just before her cotyledons start to be consumed. Then progress her up to 1/2 strength (or more, if she wants it) over a couple weeks.
Thanks for stopping by the garden! All questions and comments are welcome, and, as always, Happy Growing!
11/22 - Sorry about the delayed update. I went through a debate about whether or not to keep her or start another seed and did not update while I made that decision. For the time being, I will be keeping her since her growth is now showing signs of transitioning to normalcy. I'm not sure if she had a pH shock or if it was just a weird seed, but I'm hoping her condition continues to improve. She is following the GH Flora Trio (Performance Pack) nutrient schedule (with 1/4 strength for the first week-ish). I am also adding Botanicare Hydroguard to keep the res happy. PPMs are about 400 (200 + tap) on a .5 conversion meter (0.8ec, 0.4 from tap and 0.4 from nutes) and pH is hovering between 5.8 and 6.1. Next update is Sunday and I'm looking forward to seeing how she proceeds.

11/23 - Not really week 4, I suppose, but I did change nute strength and I'm marking this as a new week anyways. I added 1/2tsp per gallon each of Micro, Grow, and Bloom. Plus 1tsp of FloraBlend tea and 2ml/gal of Botanicare Hydroguard. Her growth is almost normalized now and I think she will pull through. I'm not sure how long I will veg her, but it will have to be at least as long as my current autos flower (3-5 more weeks). It looked to me like her growth was quite light colored compared to my well-fed autos in the tent and that's why I decided to bump her feeding schedule. Her roots are growing like crazy and still crystal white and happy. I am so excited about this lady and my California Orange. I know it will be a long, patient road until I get to enjoy them, but it will definitely be worth it.

12/1 - Here we arrive at Week 5 Day 1. She has recovered well from her earlier growth issues and I look forward to seeing what she will do. Her fans have gotten massive and her stem is nice and healthy. Root mass is nice and white and happy. I am really looking forward to this GG4xWW cross. She will also have a 1.5'x3' flowering space (half of a 3'x3') so I'm hoping her yield doesn't suffer from this early setback. Onward and upward (and outward, really).

12/8 - Here we are at the start of week 6. She has pulled through only for me to give her a significant stress this week. I topped the growth tips that I left so It should leave me with 8 tall tops. 4 mains and 4 aux colas. She has heavy Sativa lineage, so I expect tall stacks of buds. Using this to my advantage should prove for a nice result. I supercropped all her stems to slow her down (and build her up later) because the autos still have 2-3 weeks before flush. I plan on flipping to 12/12 about 2 weeks before I cut the autos, so they should be just pushing into the stretch just as the autos leave the tent.

12/24 - This is, in fact, week 7 (seeds got wet 11/3). Today, 24 December, I changed her to 12/12. I will not start counting flowering days until I see pistils. Other than that, it's been nothing but insanely vigorous growth. Lights are adjusted to 18" above canopy and temps are on the cool side, but they seem quite happy with it. I will do very selective defoliation (pruning) and focus mostly on letting her do what she does best. She is definitely going to test the vertical capacity of my tent and will require some training and likely support as she starts to bud.
Thanks for checking out the garden, and, as always, Happy Growing!
12/30 - Today is the start of Week 8. I marked this week as flowering since I am expecting to see pistils this week. She was flipped to 12/12 on 25 December. I am concerned about how much they will stretch over the next two weeks, but if my calculations are correct, they should finish stretch with 8-10" distance from the lights, once the lights are mounted to the top of the tent. I am prepared to do some HST to keep them shorter, if needed, but I'm going to just move forward with good practices and see what happens currently.
I noticed on 12/29 that she has started developing a Magnesium deficiency. I changed her nutrient feed by bumping up the CaMg by 1ml/gal. Will keep monitoring her for improvement, or rather, lack of an increase in the deficiency.
1/2/2020 - 7 full-cycle days since flip and I only just saw her first real pistils. She still isn't showing pistils at her tips, but they will surely show soon. Until then, she will stay on flip-to-pistils nutrients. ~15" from the light; 31" tall;

1/6/2020 - What a week! She is finally flowering for real and so I changed her nutrient schedule to "Early Bloom". Increasing FloraMicro and FloraBloom while decreasing FloraGro and adding Liquid KoolBloom. Despite their difference in height, they are the same distance from the light due to the awkward mounting of these lights on the ceiling of this tent. Currently sitting ~40cm from the light. This should allow room for the buds to grow up towards the light and benefit from the increased umols around 30cm. I also took the opportunity to remove select foliage that was more than 90cm from the light, mostly removing growth-tips and leaving the leaves to their transpiration duties. I still feel like they are crowding each other, but they do seem quite happy nonetheless.

Wow! She has been upgraded to a 4x4 tent with 600w of flowering lights (2x Mars Hydro TSL2000; 300w each) and she is LOVING IT! Continuing on the Early Bloom nute schedule and holding a super-solid pH/EC through the end of this week. Her uptake has started to slow, so I'm thinking that she is close to being done with stretch. She is definitely going crazy with buds as it looks to me like they swell more each day. I've been very happy with her growth so far; impressed even. I'm just hoping that the increased lighting doesn't cause her to herm due to the close distance. Updates will continue weekly, and, until then, Grower Love and thanks for stopping by the garden.
