Planted seed directly in wet soil and it popped about 2 days later. I can remember how skunky this strain was about 10 years ago when I was involved with helping a grow of it so am looking forward to seeing how skunky this turns out.
Still keeping the nutes very light. It was a later starter due to starting it after one of my initial seeds failed to pop, so it is catching up decently!
This one's coming along nicely, especially for being a later starter. Turned on another CFL this week (5 out of 6), will turn on the next one most likely after next transplant.
Finishing up week 4, just transplanted them up to 6 inch pots Saturday. Increased feeding strength too, adding in DNF Diamond and DNF Cal mend to the mix. It turned out to be a bit higher ppm than I was going for but figured it was still alright. Lifted the light away from them a couple inches, they were starting to show signs of stress, so will see how they react.
They have all really taken off after the transplant. I'll be looking to plant them up to their final size in about another week. I gave them a feeding of just DNF Cal Mend and Hygrozyme at 6.2 pH. They are starting to get a bit of a smell to them. I'll be topping them soon too and will have to move them into the bigger area as they are running out of space fast!
Topped all of them a couple days ago and will be planting them up into their final size before the end of this week. They've responded well to the topping
Finally was able to plant them up into their final size, am about a week later than I wanted to be for planting them up due to space limitations. They're now in the 3x3 and under COB lights instead of my CFL creation. They have recovered really fast already from being transplanted earlier today.
Am late with this week's update due to holiday activities. They have responded well to the final transplant, will be starting flowering in about a week. Have removed the separating wall to give them an extra 1x3 ft space, as that side section won't be in use until this round is completed.
I started with a very minor LST, applying some wire to the pots in preparation for more aggressive tying down later this week in attempt to maintain level canopy. They are starting to emit some nice smells when I check on them now. Would of liked to have sent them into flowering already, but due to hold ups, they will receive a bit of an extended veg.
They have all rooted really well into their final pot size so I have initiated 12/12 starting today. They are all starting to get their unique scents and surprisingly strong for still being in veg.
Am really looking forward to seeing how they all fill out. I have continued performing LST with wire that I wrapped around each pot. I am going this route because last time, I did a net method, which really limited the ability to move them around and being able to pull them out to properly work on them.
I have also given them a small defoliate to start off the initial phase of flowering
The skunk had taken the last transplant the worse, pulled a bunch of leaves looking like cal mag deficient, but you couldn't tell now. It has come along very nice, minimum stretching and has hardly required any training to fill it's area. It is located in the top left corner of the overhead pic.
It's exactly 1 week into flower now and you can already see the crowns starting up. The individual plant pics were taken prior to being fed, so they were displaying signs of thirst, but you can see they perked up well in the next pics which were taken following day after feeding.
I have replaced 3 of my 23w CFLs with 40w 2700k bulbs in the supplemental lighting, which I added in response to removing the dividing wall for veg area which I'm not using at the moment giving them a 3x4 area. They have filled in the area, even with the extra space. I lifted up the light about 3 inches to ensure not to light burn anything.
Overall am impressed with how they've performed their first week of flower.
Happy growing!
Finishing up week 2 of flowering, gave them last feed of veg food followed by a feed of cal mend and Hygrozyme. Noticed a couple unsightly damaged leaves which I removed and haven't noticed any more.
They have completely filled in the extra space I gave them and really starting to produce a smell. I removed a good amount of fan leaves to allow maximum exposure to all the crowns.
Nothing overly notable for any of the strains other than minor adjustments with LST and trying to keep the light at a proper distance to avoid burning them, they're really wanting to stretch this last little bit!
Anyways, still enjoying every bit of watching what these strains are to become and happy that they all seem to be remaining healthy.
Happy growing!
Finishing up week 3, they've already recieved their first bloom feed and their second bloom feed. They are drinking it up fast, within 4 to 5 days, which I'm happy about.
They are filling out really fast now and have seemed to slow down with the vertical growth. I'm still frequently removing fan places that are covering bud sites, even after the defoliation.
I'm really happy with how they're coming along so far, have tried to alter my methods based on previous mistakes I have made and feel like it's working so far.
Thanks for checking in, happy growing!
The Skunk has been getting a lot of leaf issues. I have been trying to stay on top of picking them off as they appear in case it's rust or similar and can spread. It almost looks like cal mag deficiency, but I'm feeding cal mag each feed. This is the only one effected out of four
It is a calcium/magnesium deficiency even though you are feeding cal/mag every feeding she could just be calcium crazy. I would up the dosage of cal/mag by just a bit to see how she does.
Overall, everything is going great with these ones. They're consistently drying out completely within 5 days. They've filled the whole area in really nice and each flower site is bulking up. The trichome production on all of them is amazing, I instantly get sticky if I try to reach in for anything. I'm starting to get blasted with their pleasant aromas when I open the tent.
Thanks for checking in and happy growing!
The skunk is filling in really good and looking to be a decent producer. It's almost like a double bubble smell at the moment, hoping for it to get skunky. It is also still going through issues with dark spots on the leaves, you can see in the pictures.
Just finishing up the 5th week of flower and couldn't be happier with how much they've filled out and how coated they all. I've increased their feed a bit with the cal mend and bloom a + b as well as left pH higher around 6.3.
They're starting to mature as you can notice the white hairs starting to turn orange. They keep getting stronger in smell and the carbon filter is starting to pass some of the aromas through.
Overall I'm really pleased with how this batch is coming along and am really looking forward to sampling this variety. Thanks for stopping in and happy growing!
The Skunk can't seem to shake this leave rusting issue (I don't think it's actually rust). I have no idea what it is, maybe like one of the answers for my question mentioned, light burn, and this strain is just more sensitive than the rest. Other than that, it's doing amazing, the buds are huge and it's coated in resin.
The smell is fruity, almost like double bubble, which is nice, but I was looking for a real good classic skunk flavour from this one. I'm hoping it somehow transitions, but not really expecting that anymore. Still looking forward to how it turns out, I've figured I'm not going to mess around and try to remedy whatever is going on, just going to continue treating it like the others and remove any leaves that become too damaged, harvest time will be here soon enough.
Finishing up week 6 of flower, have been giving them 2 feeds with 1 water, which has been working at keeping the run off low. I'd like to get 2 more good feeds in before starting the clear. They are still very consistent with drying out within 5 days which is nice to see them soaking it in.
You can smell when they wake up now and it's overpowering when you open the tent. They're all completely coated, really looking forward to this variety and this run!
Thanks for checking in 🤘
A bit late posting for this week, so it's actually been 7 weeks and 2 days in flower. I gave them their final feeding last week and first flush yesterday. It went in at 490ppm and the run off was 1650!, by far the highest out of the rest. It's in some kind of nutrient lockout or something, which is pretty obvious with all the leaf damage.
The buds are surprisingly big for how bad it's appearing. It's starting to get a stronger smell to it, but it still hanging on to that double bubble odor, could still see it getting more pungent though.
Thanks for checking in happy growing!
I'll have better pics next time too, couldn't pull them out because I had just watered them yesterday
The Skunk is trucking along, looking like it's having a really bad time, yet still producing really large buds. It still has a strong double bubble smell. So far this isn't what I remember the original Skunk from about 15 years ago being like, but still looking forward to the outcome.
Finished 8 weeks of flower so far and just fed second clear feed. Will probably wait about another week to cut this one, I would of gone at it already if it didn't have such high run off last clear. I gave it extra clear and sucked up the run off which helped bring it down a bit. The solution went in around 490ppm and out eventually around 900. This one will hopefully look much nicer once all these damaged leaves are trimmed off. It looks like it'll be a breeze to trim 😎, already picked off half the leaves 😬
I want to smell this one in about a month.
Gotta love an old school skunk. Skunk was the big thing back before fruit flavors came into circulation.
Happy growing friend!!
I have the Seedsman version of this stuff and in flowering the smell of juicy fruit gum gets more and more intense when touching the buds when they are just about ready they get really pungent and start showing purples in the last few days awesome smelly stuff good luck with your grow make sure your carbon filter is ready to put in some work lol 😂
You know, we have a lot in common with are grows and it's becoming more and more obvious🙂. I love your use of literally every inch in the tent. No wasted space. Great form and an even canopy to boot. Super impressive, going very well👍👍
Keep it up, man. Great things on the horizon ☺️
@JinksyGrows, thanks for your kind words! If we have the space, why not fill it!? I'm also picking up some of those bulldog clips, such a great idea on your part with those
Great setup mate ... and interesting to see such high EC values in your fertigation. I'm currently also fertigating with such high values and my plants seem to love it contrary to a lot of advise being given to lower EC considerably. Enjoy the smell and coming weeks of flowering.
@CrankledLarkus,souds like a good approach. I'm seeing my run-off EC increasing over the recent weeks but still under the inflow EC. Will keep my eyes on it.
@HazeyBobby, thanks, I am monitoring the run off ppm and trying to keep it under what I'm putting it in at. I did send it in pretty high at the start of the week, but the most recent feed (about 2 days ago), I only used hygrozyme and cal mend so it only went in at around 600 ppm. Trying to alternate it like that after I ended up getting really high ppm run off near the end of my last grow. Since then, it's something I'm trying to monitor each feed
They don’t make skunk like they use to, I know the one you want, it’s hard to find but it’s called roadkill skunk. Smells like side of the road skunk. One of my favorites.
@@HiddenColorado, Yeah, exactly like that! And it has really Orange hairs and would almost grow spiral like buds.
Just trimming some of it tonight and no sign of skunk at all yet 😔 , I mean it doesn't smell bad, just not what I was going for
Looks awesome my Seedsman Skunk No1 starts changing smell from the juicy fruit to more potent skunk smell in the last 2-3 days before she is ready along with buds getting slightly purple how I usually know it’s time so don’t give up hope yet on that lol I also got the brown rust issues last 2 grows of this stuff never figured it out but your answer in the grow question seems good I didn’t try that but will next sn1 grow. 👍
@Lionsshare, Thanks for the comment and that's good to hear! I'll be keeping my nose on the smell. I'm going to move the light a bit further away to see if that helps, maybe it's just a bit more sensitive than the rest. Hopefully you get some ideas from the issues I'm having to help sort out any persistent problems you've experienced!
Hey there, i saw your leaf troubles and i agree it looks much like a calmag issue. However it is not uncommon to have a phosphorus deficiency along side it..has a very similar look to picture 8.
Just some possible ideas.... are you stirring water with each pour so that the nutrients don't split and one plant get more than another? Or recalibrate the ph pen or whatever you use just in case it's. Up the nutrients like Mr. Weeds autos mentioned.
Good luck with the hunt and problem solving. ✌️
@Experimentgreen, That's a really good observation! I will maybe not lower my pH as much and slightly increase the bloom feed, it is really filling out fast and could be using it up. I did step up the cal mag last feed and my pH meter is bang on with 4 and 7 buffers.
Thanks for your input!
Wonderful full garden. Almost out of room😮! Did a great job filling and utilizing all your space. Gotta make every inch count👍, lol.
Happy, continued blooming. You're on your way!👍😉 Cheers
