Planted seed directly into wet soil and it popped 2 days later. Have had this strain around for a bit but am finally getting it started. Feel like it will be a nice addition to the variety I've started for this round.
This one is getting a minor discolouration on the one leaf as well a minor deformation on the other leaf. Am going to start introducing a cal mag supplement next feed as it's been a persistent issue I typically run into. Turned on another CFL this week (5 out of 6), will turn on the next one most likely after next transplant.
Finishing up week 4, just transplanted them up to 6 inch pots Saturday. Increased feeding strength too, adding in DNF Diamond and DNF Cal mend to the mix. It turned out to be a bit higher ppm than I was going for but figured it was still alright. Lifted the light away from them a couple inches, they were starting to show signs of stress, so will see how they react.
They have all really taken off after the transplant. I'll be looking to plant them up to their final size in about another week. I gave them a feeding of just DNF Cal Mend and Hygrozyme at 6.2 pH. They are starting to get a bit of a smell to them. I'll be topping them soon too and will have to move them into the bigger area as they are running out of space fast!
Topped all of them a couple days ago and will be planting them up into their final size before the end of this week. They've responded well to the topping
Finally was able to plant them up into their final size, am about a week later than I wanted to be for planting them up due to space limitations. They're now in the 3x3 and under COB lights instead of my CFL creation. They have recovered really fast already from being transplanted earlier today.
Am late with this week's update due to holiday activities. They have responded well to the final transplant, will be starting flowering in about a week. Have removed the separating wall to give them an extra 1x3 ft space, as that side section won't be in use until this round is completed.
I started with a very minor LST, applying some wire to the pots in preparation for more aggressive tying down later this week in attempt to maintain level canopy. They are starting to emit some nice smells when I check on them now. Would of liked to have sent them into flowering already, but due to hold ups, they will receive a bit of an extended veg.
They have all rooted really well into their final pot size so I have initiated 12/12 starting today. They are all starting to get their unique scents and surprisingly strong for still being in veg.
Am really looking forward to seeing how they all fill out. I have continued performing LST with wire that I wrapped around each pot. I am going this route because last time, I did a net method, which really limited the ability to move them around and being able to pull them out to properly work on them.
I have also given them a small defoliate to start off the initial phase of flowering
The Banana Kush has been a beast, growing big and bushy. It's required some work to try and keep it from getting too tall. Nothing too noticable with the smell yet, but the leaves also look like they're starting to get a slight glisten already. It is located in the top right of the overhead pic.
It's exactly 1 week into flower now and you can already see the crowns starting up. The individual plant pics were taken prior to being fed, so they were displaying signs of thirst, but you can see they perked up well in the next pics which were taken following day after feeding.
I have replaced 3 of my 23w CFLs with 40w 2700k bulbs in the supplemental lighting, which I added in response to removing the dividing wall for veg area which I'm not using at the moment giving them a 3x4 area. They have filled in the area, even with the extra space. I lifted up the light about 3 inches to ensure not to light burn anything.
Overall am impressed with how they've performed their first week of flower.
Happy growing!
Finishing up week 2 of flowering, gave them last feed of veg food followed by a feed of cal mend and Hygrozyme. Noticed a couple unsightly damaged leaves which I removed and haven't noticed any more.
They have completely filled in the extra space I gave them and really starting to produce a smell. I removed a good amount of fan leaves to allow maximum exposure to all the crowns.
Nothing overly notable for any of the strains other than minor adjustments with LST and trying to keep the light at a proper distance to avoid burning them, they're really wanting to stretch this last little bit!
Anyways, still enjoying every bit of watching what these strains are to become and happy that they all seem to be remaining healthy.
Happy growing!
Finishing up week 3, they've already recieved their first bloom feed and their second bloom feed. They are drinking it up fast, within 4 to 5 days, which I'm happy about.
They are filling out really fast now and have seemed to slow down with the vertical growth. I'm still frequently removing fan places that are covering bud sites, even after the defoliation.
I'm really happy with how they're coming along so far, have tried to alter my methods based on previous mistakes I have made and feel like it's working so far.
Thanks for checking in, happy growing!
Overall, everything is going great with these ones. They're consistently drying out completely within 5 days. They've filled the whole area in really nice and each flower site is bulking up. The trichome production on all of them is amazing, I instantly get sticky if I try to reach in for anything. I'm starting to get blasted with their pleasant aromas when I open the tent.
Thanks for checking in and happy growing!
The banana kush is coming along really nice, sativa like leaves, but the buds are getting big! And they are completely coated. It's starting to get a sweet smell and have hopes of it turning banana like. I let it get too big too fast and am paying for it now with trying to train it to stay within its space.
Just finishing up the 5th week of flower and couldn't be happier with how much they've filled out and how coated they all. I've increased their feed a bit with the cal mend and bloom a + b as well as left pH higher around 6.3.
They're starting to mature as you can notice the white hairs starting to turn orange. They keep getting stronger in smell and the carbon filter is starting to pass some of the aromas through.
Overall I'm really pleased with how this batch is coming along and am really looking forward to sampling this variety. Thanks for stopping in and happy growing!
The Banana Kush has been a bit out of control, but it's seriously bulking up now and looks to be very potent. It's staying heathy and starting to mature. It actually is starting to smell like unripe bananas!! I have high hopes for this one.
Finishing up week 6 of flower, have been giving them 2 feeds with 1 water, which has been working at keeping the run off low. I'd like to get 2 more good feeds in before starting the clear. They are still very consistent with drying out within 5 days which is nice to see them soaking it in.
You can smell when they wake up now and it's overpowering when you open the tent. They're all completely coated, really looking forward to this variety and this run!
Thanks for checking in
A bit late posting for this week, so it's actually been 7 weeks and 2 days in flower. I gave them their final feeding last week and first flush yesterday. It went in at 490ppm and the run off was almost 1000.
This one looks like it is threatening to fox tail, though the buds have already nicely filled out. I'm still getting that ripe banana fruity smell, not too overpowering though. It's maturing well too, indicating this run will soon be over.
Thanks for checking in happy growing!
I'll have better pics next time too, couldn't pull them out because I had just watered them yesterday
The Banana Kush is coming along great. I feel like it might be in the top 2 for yield, the buds are huge! I'm not getting any kushy smells off it yet, but it is really sweet smelling, as I've mentioned before, like ripe bananas. It's looking like it's proving to be as potent as it claims, but sampling will obviously be required to really determine that.
Finished 8 weeks of flower so far and just fed second clear feed. Will probably wait about another week to cut this one as it's starting to look finished. The solution went in around 490ppm and out at 900. The leaves are starting to get some colour. I'm going to have some fun trimming this beauty
Some of the best stuff I've grown! It's been curing for most of this month now and the smells are amazing. You open the jar to be blasted with the smell of sweet banana peels with hints of that dank pungent.
The smoke is very smooth with really pronounced banana flavours, like an over ripened banana that's getting a bit squishy.
It is very potent that doesn't knock you out too much. Very pleasant effect.
This strain grew very vigorously and healthy, had the thickest stalk by far. It grew a bit out of control from me and I believe I could of gotten a much better yield had I trained it better from the start. It yielded a total of 87 grams out of the grand total of 414 g from all 4. Regardless of yielding less than the rest, I would still rate it as a top performer.
The amount of crystals covering these buds are insane, so much that I don't even want to admit it... But I thought it had started growing mold, so washed some of it only to find out I had been enjoying this wonderful product and mistaken how crystal-y it was for mold. Can't be too upset I guess for that.
Bottom line is that this strain is a winner!
I also was able to get almost an ounce of some killer full melt bubble out of the trim and a little piece of goo was made out of the dry sift from trim bin which I can't even smoke in a pipe because it melts and clogs hole.
@HazeyBobby, I just use plain tap water and no humidifier, I always have to bring it up, since it is still in the tent, it's still always under vacuum and has minimal ventilation through any leaks, but seems to work great.
My problem with drying has always been with it drying too fast and this has been a great solution
@CrankledLarkus, sounds like a great setup. I also use my tent in a similar way once all the plants are harvested. Surprising to hear no venting though so I assume your humidifier can also dehumidify... I haven't tried that before but could setup something to test with my dehumidifier :) great to share your approach - thanks!
I used a humidifier for the first time on my current grow and noticed a whole film of white stuff on the inside.. have you had such an experience with using a humidifier and do you use distilled RO water in the humidifier? (I think my problem was using tap water :) )
@HazeyBobby, The best thing I've done for curing is purchased a cheap humidifier with humidity control, I use small humidity meters too to confirm humidity. Have a space isolated in my tent (1x3 feet) with no venting and a small fan, and keep it at 60% humidity.
That way you can leave them in there for 1 to 2 weeks without worrying about them drying out. The curing results are amazing too with the extended hang dry in a properly controlled environment.
Highly recommended!
So, my buddy neglected his BK and she's currently dying. Very happy to see the care and attention you've put into this girl... She's absolutely beautiful man and you did a great job. The fruits of your labor will/are well deserved.
Good luck with the final days. I look forward to your opinions and reviews! Cheers and happy grows this week. 👌😉
@CrankledLarkus, I hope he does too. Just needs to care a little more...lol. And happy tasting. I'm sure you'll be pleased with your efforts 👌.
And thanks man. Looking to chop the NL's soon enough here. We had pretty lined up grows this round. Kinda cool👍☺️
@JinksyGrows, That's too bad to hear about your buddy's plant! Hopefully they keep at it.
Thanks for your kind words! I will most definitely be updating with a harvest next I believe. Many samples to be had 😁.
I look forward to seeing yours finish up, they are coming along very impressively!
@CrankledLarkus, Yes to everything you said. In my future I picture many different mason jars sitting on the shelf, with all my favorites. If I grow one strain at a time, that may never happen and I like variety too...a lot👍. 2 strains in first grow, 3 in second and planning 4 for the 3rd grow😊.
Keep up the battle, you're winning! Cheers buddy.
@JinksyGrows, Thanks! Really appreciate it. Trying to maintain an even canopy with 4 different strains is an ongoing battle!
It would be so much easier doing only one strain per run... I just enjoy having the variety come harvest time way too much
So excited to see yours grow. I have 5 that just went into flower but my big girl is about halfway through and full of thrichomes.
This one has been on top of my list for thrichome production and I am so excited to taste her
Have you ever tried this strain??
I have not but at 27% THC it was worth a try.
Happy growing!!
@CrankledLarkus, I cut mine yesterday and the banana scent was strong with this one. I didn't notice a banana scent at all until she was ready for harvest. I hope the flavor remains but I will say this. Potency is also there, we tried some a couple of weeks prior to cutting and it was already powerful. you should be happy
@MomnPoppaSeed, this is my first time with this strain! Really looking forward to seeing if that 27% lives up to the description. Also banana flavours!? Yes please, I can't recall ever experiencing banana like flavours before so am excited for that! I'll be continuing to follow your journal for a bit of a sneak peak for what I'm getting into
I'd be considering a lolipop to thin the inner canopy, and to train for flower set.. as is, by the time you get to full flower production, the canopy will be so dense, that air circulation within the canopy will be very difficult.. dunno if you've already got it slated to do, but early flower as opposed to late flower is when I do mine on bigger plants.. cheers, looks great!
@DWCHC, yeah, that's a good call, it is getting really messy! I have done a minor lollypop but could definitely do more. I've held off a bit because I have a buddy who might want a cutting for his next run and those sucker branches are prime candidates for that. They are also still getting a final defoliate before week 3 of flower is done.
Appreciate the comments and advice!
Happy growing
Wow, they're really sizing up nicely. I'm about 3 weeks from harvesting my 1st BK but just set the lights to flower on 5 more.
The thrichomes on this strain are amazing. As many or more than my gorilla glues.
I'm curious about what yours will smell like because mine started out like banana and flowers but now she smells of pine and citrus.
I was kinda concerned with my plants leaves always seeming to droop but looking at yours I can tell it must be the heavy indica phenotype.
I can easily understand how this strain could thrive in a tropical environment with their airy disposition and massive fan leaves.
I'm extremely excited to find out what yours will smell and look like at the end.
Happy growing!
@MomnPoppaSeed, I am finding this strain to literally grow like a weed! I was able to easily get the top I had cut off to root into a cube by just having it sit in a bowl of regular tap water. I also noticed that even though it shows vigorous growth, it does look wilty most of the time, almost like it's over watered. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one smells once it starts bulking up?
They look nice, did you maybe drop a little water on the leaf with the spot? I've had that happen and it was just from a drop of water bleaching the leaf from the light.
As for cal-mag I'd say go for it. My big girl has been getting it with every feeding plus a little nitrogen because I just switched lights.
I dont find mine to be a glutton for nutrients but my gold leaf is so its always an option.
Good job and best of luck
@MomnPoppaSeed, Bah! I don't think I splashed any water on it, I'm not sure what has caused that marking, but haven't seen it get any worse yet so am hoping whatever caused it was just some kind of anomaly. I just fed it water mixed with only cal mag today as it was getting dry and the run off was getting a bit rich (around 770ppm) so didn't want to cause any nute burn. Will be transplanting to a larger pot soon to allow it to take off.
Thanks for the comments! Always appreciated
Yes!!!
We can be banana buddies!! Haha
At the moment I have 1 ready for flowering room, 3 small clones and 1 seedling. The funny part is I've never even tried this strain or even heard of it b4 buying seeds.
Have you tested anything from this strain b4??
Her estimated THC levels are pretty crazy.
@MomnPoppaSeed, I've never tried it before so am really looking forward to seeing if it really ends up with banana flavours!, And yeah 27% I believe!? That was a deciding factor for buying this one, hoping it will be completing coated in gloriousness!
Flower time is always super sweet smelling at first with BK. My moms almost done but my 4 babys are in early flower and the smell of this strain changes a lot throughout the flower cycle in my opinion.
I know that they all do that but I find the type of scent really changes.
Such a lovely grow you have there..
Good job, I think we're on a similar schedule which is good for both. My banana baby was transplanted on 11/30/19 and she's happy with her transplant.
I didn't increase my nutrition yet but I'm going to give a tea today that will be a little heavier than usual on cal-mag.
The coolest thing I found so far about this strain is how easily they clone. They literally just need some damp soil and they will start growing.
Still waiting to find out she tastes but thinking about adding a banana flavored terpene enhancer on later to the clones to test the product
I've never tried strain but I just popped 1 too so I'm hopeful that they'll be as good as everyone else seems to think they are.
Happy growing friend!!
