Hi! This is my first ever indoor grow, and I decided to go with a hydro top feed setup.
I am using a 3x3 vivosun tent with a powersun 250w HPS lights and 4" exhaust fan. I started the seed directly into the rockwool and put the rockwool into my pots 4 days later. I had to fight down my PH for the first few days but it's much more stable now. I am using the Canna Aqua line of nutes, and had just introduced the Cannazym a days ago and the growth over the night was phenomenal.
I had set the plants 18" apart on the furthest and they were already starting to show sign of light deprivation after 4 days so I made a new lid with the pots closer. They are now at 11" at the furthest and I moved my light 90* to get a better reflector coverage. I might switch back to the other lid for flowering but right now I am aiming on growing them straight and strong.
Planning on topping 3 times and aim for 8 head per plants.
My lower controller is cycling on and off the humidifier. The other 2 controller are hooked to the exhaust fan and will start it at maximum speed if the temperature inside the tent reach over 79* or if the RH goes over 60%. The later might be more useful on the flowering stage but having it automated give me a peace of mind that the growing environment is stable. Otherwise the fan run at about 50% of it's capacity.
This is such a big learning curve with so many things to know but at the same time it's a lot of fun.
Well on day 7 I did a rez change and went with higher concentration of nutes (1.2 EC) and the ladies did not like it at all. I was also overwatering them because I kept the top feed on and when I discovered both of these issue I cut the solution contentration in half and turned off top feed.
It was also suggested to me that my rez was getting way too hot (reaching 79* during the lights on cycle) so I invested in a chiller. I also added a 80L/min air pump to the setup. It's noisy as hell but makes good bubbling.
We are now at days 14, I have been feeding them with .55 of EC and keeping a steady 5.7 PH. They have recovered this week except one that is really slow on growth. The older leaves still show sign of nutes burn just to remind me daily how badly I messed up.
I also have a KingBrite 480w 3500K led pannel on the way that should really get these going! These Glookies are growing fast even with my beginner mistake and the leaves are HUGE!
Hey guys! This week has been a blast. I FIMed girl #1 and topped girl #2 but left alone the smallest one. They all sort of stopped growing for 2-3 days last week (prior to being HST) so I did a few update to my setup! Also started LST 3 days ago. I can't believe how they grew when I look at last week picture! They leave a skunky smell on the finger when I manipulate them for lst.
I am now using a 100L container with 60L in it (10" high solution) and re-arranged my air supply with a bigger feed. With the tank change I did a new nutes mix aiming for .9 of EC (450 PPM) and it is still a tidy bit too much at this stage. I fugured the light upgrade would help them alot with that little extra nutes. I also took the air pump out of the tent as I realized it's putting out a fair amount of heat!
Got a 41" tower fan inside eating up one corner but it's moving a decent amount of air. I'm not oscillating it yet because even at "eco" mode it move too much air for the proximity it has with the plant.
It's winter here and the RH is really low. My mist humidifier inside the tent was having a hard time keeping up so I added a new one right in front of my air intake.
But the biggest improvement is the KingBrite 480W Led pannel, that thing is BRIGHT! It's now set at 32" high running 100% power for the past 3 days with no sign of light burn, only incredible overnight growth! It also made the temps easier to manage as it produce less radiant heat than the HPS.
Hey guys! Another week and a half went by and they grew like crazy. I did a water rez change 4 days ago at the 4 weeks mark and upped the EC to 1.11 (550 ppm) and they seems to like it. The ec hasn't moved at all this week and PH was pretty stable a 5.7 too. They drank 10L of water over the last 4 days, that's a lot of water!
I was running the 480W led panel full power @ 32" height and started to get small sign of light burn so I dimmed it down about 35%, so far so good.
They have not really gained any height because of the scrog but they are starting to spread wide. I will have 5 weeks of veg done in 3 days and really wonder if I should switch to flower any time soon. I have more than half useable scrog net filed already, but the leaves are so big on these you move one around and discover a few hidden bud site. Getting really excited at this point for my first grow!
Hey Guys!
A week and a half went by, they are just 2 days short of being 6 weeks into veg. They really grow fast, I have a hard time keeping up with the defoliation. It got so crowded in there it was just big bushy interlaced leaves that made the scrog harder to realize, so I defoliated a lot of the lower leaves. Doing a defoliation every 2 days to let it recover in between and every morning after a defoliation I can hardly tell I've removed a shit ton of leaves. It might be the strain, might be my powerfull led setup, but the spacing between the nodes is minimal and while I really like it it puts them really close and I have a few net hole that has 2 small nodes in it.
I've been lowering the net as I kept filling it and already reached about 75% of it's usable space. Some nodes has poked through the net already and I can't move them around as every adjacent hole is already filed. I'll be switching to flower in 2 days at the 6 weeks mark. Would have known better I'd only had 1-2 plant in there vs 3 and I would of spaced them differently, maybe into single bucket too.
Slowly raised my PPM to 600 this week, added Cal-Mag at 2ml/l because I started to get cal deficiency spot on my leaves. Raised light intensity just a tad.
Cheers!
What's up growers! Another week, another update! I did not really skip any week in the diary as my last entry was at the end of week 5 of veg. I flipped them like 2 days after my post!
I have now 1 week of flower done and I believe they look so healthy! I have removed most of leaf and small branch under the net and was able to make about 20 clones. I have no use for them so I will much likely try to give them around, just didn’t want to kill them all lol. I still left a few in case they reach the canopy in time. The back part of the tent is really hard to access and take care of. The leave are getting so huge in that area! Still running the 480W Led pannel dimmed down.
Been using 700 ppm for the last week with 5.7 PH, 55~57% humidity level and I have noticed that they sweat a LOT during their night cycle. Still drinking about 5 liter per day, I’m topping off every 2 days. Been defoliating a lot lately as it gets really crowded, however tonight I did tuck some leaves and really liked how it exposed all the soon-to-be buds.
This was my last week on the Aqua Vega, switching to Aqua Flores on the next nutes change. The 2 bigger ladies love the nutes and could probably live with a bit more, but the smaller one is barely happy at 700ppm so that will be it.
What's up grower! Another week went by and they gained between 4 to 6 inch in height. Started to lower my humidity, keeping a close eye on them but there's not much I can do for now except look at it every day. They sill don't want anything higher than 600 to 650 PPM and have little to no smell to them yet. First sign of flower started to show up!
Looks like they are reaching for the sky! The whole net is now impossible to see and at that point I wonder if its' really making a difference. I was really able to fill my tent much more than I thought I would so I am really happy. They now have a lot of bud site growing up with white hair everywhere. The leaf started to get that nice trichome look. It is getting obvious that I switched them to flower 1 week too late.
Added Canna Boost and Canna PK13/14 to my tank for this week. Feel like cooking now with all the different nutes! PPM are still hovering around 650~700, having a hard time finding the sweet spot but they sure grow fast. Lowered the humidity a bit more as I approach mid-flower. I only add water and Boost during the week (drinking 7L per day) and still do my res change every 7-8 days.
So you are thinking this guys is on crack, there is no way the plant grew 15" in a week. Well, they friggin did! They averaged a good 2" per day for 3-4 days then settled down to 1.5" or so. Is it the Canna Boost? Is it the strain? I really don't know but I'd be fine if they stopped going up so high. I raised my light twice and am now at the highest point I can go. The highest cola is just 4" from the LED panel so I am really gonna have to suppercrop it. I wanted to avoid doing it to my healthier colas but it's soon gonna crash into the light. I have 45" tall plant on a 16" high rez tank. That only leave me 11" of space to mount my led panel. I clearly switched to flower a week too late!
Meanwhile I also lowered the humidity again to 40-42 and upped my dose of Boost. Mixing my tank using the chart I posted here gave me 1.7 EC or 850 PPM, and it was obvisouly too high. I lowered it every day by adding only water and I am now back a 700ppm. I'll see tomorrow morning if the tank EC is more stable at a lower concentration. Burned some leaf with my concentration being a bit too high but it ain't stoppin them from growing!
Clones i made 2 weeks ago are now growing strong at various friend's house.
So clearly this thread could also be called "I outgrew my 3x3 tent".
@RogerDee, daaaaaamn yeaaap 😍😍 im a great fan of luxury ledboards🤣 when u see the way plant grows n blooms under THATLIGHT..
Kinda SHUTUP N TAKE MY MONEY mem I TAKE THEM ALL🤣🤣
Hey bro, nice setup! i've been wrestling with dwc too since this year, one tip: use less nutrients, less is more!! I havent even reached 500pmm now and they are doing great, they just dont need that much with dwc ;)
Good luck with the rest of the grow! 😎👍💪
Depending the phenotype, Glookies grow very fast and yield big. Your Glookies looks healty with some nice white budding. However, maybe you could use some defoliation on big fan leaves so you can allow light to penetrate more down the canopy!
