Hey all! 🙌 It's me again, after a hiatus I'm back in action and this time I'll be growing two plants! The strain is Green Gelato from Royal Queen Seeds and the two babies are going to be Pistachio and Matcha, two green ice creams flavors to match with the strain name! 😋 I started soaking both seeds in a glass with water for 24 hours to hydrate them (I forgot to take a photo of this!) and after that I placed them in a jiffy pellet. After some days Pistachio was the first one to show while Matcha was still being a little behind. During this I made a small mistake, instead of opening the cardboard box where I placed the seeds I left the baby plant inside so she grew a bit too much during the night... ooops! But nothing too serious (I got it fixed after moving her into a cup). Some days after Matcha appeared but it seemed she was having a small issue, it seemed like part of her shell was still stuck to her so I helped by removing it and then she started to grow normally once again. Right now I moved Pistachio to one of those red cups and I used some mycorrhizas on her! Glomus mosseae and glomus intraradices to be more precise! Next week I'll be doing the same with Matcha. 😊 I also started making a timelapse (I think it looks awful haha but it helps to see how Matcha started to recover!) I hope you'll all enjoy the photos! 😃 See you all next week!

Heeey! 👋 It's week two and everything went quite well I believe! The girls are growing and they look healthy! 💪 During the first days this week and while I was checking them I started to think how I could improve (and fix) what I did in my previous grow, specifically the veg. phase. I wasn't the brightest person in my previous grow because I left the lights at their maximum power during this phase to increase the overall heat of the tent (it was a winter where I live) and while that idea made total sense to me at that time later I found out that was a not the best idea at all 😰. By doing what I did it meant my plants were receiving way more energy they could handle and that meant the plants didn't grow as much as they could 😱😭 So, how could I improve that this time? The best way was to get a PAR meter so I could measure how much light my babies are receiving but those are expensive so the best option after was using the lux meter (or rather the RGB brightness sensor) that's available in my phone (most phones come with one) and by doing that I get a rough idea how much food my babies were receiving (in lux tho, not the best method but it helps to get an idea) 👌 The first days Pistachio and Matcha were getting about 8000 lux and as the week progressed I ended near 18000. Some websites said that amount was acceptable for young plants (they do not talk about the quality of the light tho). For the next week I plan to reach 24000 lux and stay around that 😊 I also think this week I'll move the girls to a slightly bigger pot and with each transplant I'll keep using mycorhizes (Mico Root are mycorhizes) to help the root development. Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks for reading and I hope you'll all enjoy the photos and timelapses I took (the 2nd one looks cool!) Cheers! 😃

Heeey! 👋 Another update! :D This week I made another transplant, this time from the drink cups to a small 3.5 liter pot and I also applied some more mycorrhizas to my babies! 😃 From both of them Pistachio seems to be the one who's developing faster and Matcha is trying to catch her sister. The plants ended with about 19500 lumens! Couldn't rise them more because of heat issues 😟 The only tricky part this week was when I decided to add a bit of growing nutrients to my plants so I ended up watering them a lot after the transplant and the results were quite shocking! I barely added 2ml of total nutrients per liter but the runoff water I got was around the 1400 ppm which all honestly scared me a lot! That's way too much for two young plants (and I believe some of the excess nutrients can be seen on Matcha) nonetheless they are still developing so I'll just continue with water for now till they start to lose color (the Light Mix I used should have enough 'food' for at least 2 weeks, so that's good I believe! Besides that everything went well. I'm using tap water for my humidifier and its sediments are being thrown into the air by it, but so far it seems my plants are doing well. During the last 4 days the plants developed a lot in their new pots so I'm quite happy for that! If things go well next week I'll be moving them to their final container! Thanks everyone for reading! I hope you'll all enjoy my new timelapses and photos! :D

I've been taking tons macro shots and I've noticed there are some small white dots in the leaves (especially young ones) that look like small trichomes but I don't think they are that. I wonder, what are they? And what's the most accurate and/or scientific name for those dots?

Don't worry this can be strain type, just observe other plants of the same strain and see if it's so or not. The plants look very healthy, congratulations and good luck until the end 😉

Happy new year everyone! I hope everyone had some amazing festivities! 😃 Regarding my babies I think I might be underfeeding them and one might be shocked thanks to the heat and the lack of nutrients I gave them, last week's runoff water scared me and the plants might be suffering because of that! Most of the issues starts to get more noticeable later during the week! 😖 I started giving them few nutrients to see how they would react and at the end of the week it's clear that I had to give them waaaaay more 😵 Besides that I also moved them to their final pots and I topped Pistachio, out of the two she's the one that looks the best. I also defoliated them a little. I also believe they didn't get a transplant shock (I mean, they would've been worse if that was the case haha) and I added more mycorrhizas during the transplant (I heard they help a lot with hot climates and I need help with that badly) Anyway, thanks for reading! Stay tuned for the next update! 😉

Hey all! 👋 This week is when most of my plants deficiencies started to show, specially on Matcha 😢so to try to fix this problem I decided to use Revive from Advanced Nutrients on both plants (there were some slight indications that Pistachio might be suffering from some of these issues as well) and since last time it worked amazingly well I just decided to do it... and it seems it did its magic! The changes started to become more obvious near the end of the week when finally Matcha started to grow, so I'm happy! Also, since Pistachio is growing well I decided to do some LST on her as well and she took it without problems 😍 I also believe this issue is a mix of nitrogen deficiency and magnesium (mostly this) and I suppose that's because of the heat that's inside the tent and because I'm feeding my plants with bottled water (different brand) that's probably low on that mineral. In my previous grow I used to add tap water to the mix but the water where I used to live was better so I fear that I might end doing more harm than good if I use this water to feed the plants 😵if the issues continues tho I'll get a bottle of Cal Mag and see if things improve. Also, this week's timelapse is long! I barely moved the plants and thanks to that I managed to make a long video. I hope you'll all enjoy it 😁 Thanks for reading! ;)

Hey guys! 😀 Another update! This week my babies were still showing signs of deficiencies and I'm now almost 100% sure the culprit is Magnesium. Next week I'll add some CalMag to the mix both in water and thru some foliar application, hopefully that will help them. Besides of that Pistachio is outgrowing Matcha by a big margin, it's obvious she's still recovering or she's still somehow stunned (maybe she'll stay small till the end of her days 😢). Either I decided to defoliate both of them and on top of that do LST on Matcha... and both responded well to it, that's good! 😍 They looked super sad for a moment 😰 The new branches look nice and the wounds were I did the topping look healthy for both plants, nice! Anyway, see you all soon in my next update and I hope you all enjoy the photos/videos I took! 👋

Hey guys! Another update! 💪 I bought a Cal-Max from Grotek 👌 From the photos I shared it seems Matcha and Pistachio are suffering from some Magnesium deficiency (I hope that's the issue 😰) and this should help with the issue. I foliar spayed both of my babies and then I added the recommended dosage to all the waterings I made during the week. Gladly the first changes were clear after 48 hours of spraying them and I'll probably see the rest of the changes next week (or the week after) 😱 Besides that Matcha is still super small compared to Pistachio and I wonder what might be the issue. Maybe I'm watering her a bit too much or the heat is too high and it's not letting her take the proper nutrients? Maybe her roots are still small (for some reason I think this might be the main issue) or the damage she suffered from the lack of magnesium was way too severe and can't be fixed? No idea but she seems to be recovering so I'll let her continue that way for a bit more (and let her grow some more roots) before switching into flower. Oh! And I switched places between her and Pistachio, in case the lights were a bit too strong for my baby! As for Pistachio, she's growing strong so I suspect she'll be a huge plant during the stretch phase 😃(you can only dream). She's also showing some chlorosis but absolutely nothing compared to Matcha. I also defoliated both of my plants, they were getting bushy and I want all the "new" colas to receive as much light as poooooosible! Anyway, that's all for now. I hope you'll all enjoy the photos and video! See you all in the next update! 👍

Hey everyone 👋 Here's this week's update: Matcha is still small and I believe she'll stay like this but at the time she's doing better compared to last week, so that's a win. I wonder, did I do something wrong? Was it the lack of CalMag or maybe the heat? Maybe I got a weird phenotype? (I doubt this) or what else could've happened to her? The truth is there are tons of different things that could've caused this and I wish I could know what could've caused this (I'll be making a grow question regarding this). Pistachio on the other hand is doing well, she's huge compared to her sister and she grew a looooot this week! Some leaves are slightly dark and some tips are a bit too bright as well but there's no signs of burn so I assume she might be on her the limit! Personally I suppose the mycorrhizas might be the ones at fault in here. They make feeding more efficient so probably the "normal" dosage might be a bit too much for them... and for that reason alone I decided to lower the amount of Green Grow that I was using, hopefully that will help. 🙏 I also decided to give 10 weeks of vegetation to these plants. Hopefully Matcha will grow a little more during this time (she's still at 20cm) but at this moment I expect nothing from her, I'll just allow her to surprise me haha. 👻 Thanks for reading! See you all in the next update! 😃

One of my plants is super small and I have no idea why. Initially I thought it was a magnesium deficiency but clearly it was not only that. The issues became apparent between weeks 4 and 6, right after the last transplant. Any idea what could've caused this?

Some girls just genetically are less vigorous. Could also be a root issue as well. Had a similar thing happen to me with my pineapple express auto. One was just a bit slow and had issues with nutes despite being fed the same. Flushes to ensure it wasnt nute lock still resulted in a slower grower. Good news is that same plant grew to be a monster so just hang in there, they can rebound. Wish i had something more concrete but I hope my experience gives you a little info.

Hey guys! Sorry for the late update, I've been hella busy lately! 😱 This week was good and for that very reason it was uneventful. I did some defoliation to let the lower branches receive more light and it seems the plants received it well. 😁 Matcha still has some weird looking leaves 😰 but I suppose those are old leaves and they are just there because I didn't cut them earlier. Pistachio in another hand is doing great! 😍 I also took some photos of their roots, they look interesting! I suppose they are that way because the root mass below them must be huge. Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks everyone for reading! 👋

Hey all! Finally! This is the last week of veg! :D I know Matcha still has a lot of things going on but I believe I've waited more than enough for this (10 weeks is a lot considering one of the plants is still small and the other one isn't as big as it should be). Both are also starting to drink more water compared to before! Pistachio is now getting thirstier a lot faster now! I defoliated both plants and I'll do it again in about 3 more weeks to allow the lower budsites receive more light. I believe I could've trimmed a bit more heavily but I believe what I did was enough, they have been going thru some issues and I don't want to risk it all. I also removed all the small growtips in my plants, the ones that are just going to never develop very well because they are way too low and no light will reach them well. Anyway. see you all next week! ;)

And here we go! First week of flower (or rather, the first week with the new photoperiod) 😀 I'll give my babies one more week of veg. fertilizers and I'll swap to flower ones when the first pistils start to show! Also, not much happens in this week, the plant is still trying to "understand" what's going on to properly start flowering so most changes are going to be minimal (Pistachio grew only 2 cms). What's interesting is that the top leaves are now starting to get slightly lighter in color (a sign she's switching to flower) and that my girls are now drinking more water (I blame the heat!) and that my girls need more power! Anyway, see you all next week! 👋

A fast update! 😀 Last week was unexciting because it was the first week of flower and nothing could be "seen" but now it's different! My babies are now showing some of their pistils! 😍Specially Pistachio. During the week I also took some pictures when the tips of the plants were lighter in color and I noticed the moment they were the lightest was right after the lights turned on and they lost their "bright" as the "day" progressed. I suppose the reason why that happens is because Pistachio and Matcha are trying to build flowers, stretch or do both things, or maybe I'm wrong? 😲 No idea tbh, but I believe they look great and it's a nice sight when it happens! They are also drinking more water and I'm missing their watering schedule but at least they manage to recover in time (gladly 😱) Anyway, that's all for this week. Next weeks my babies will probably look even better! Thanks for reading! :)

Heeey! 👋 Here's the third week of flower or the 2nd with actually visible buds! And some have grown quite a lot in such little time, nice! 😁 And the plant stretched a lot too! Sooo, everything is going well, or it seems that way! If anything what's happening is that I'm still taking too long to water my plants (but they do recover fast!) 😖 and I'm also giving them all the proper nutrients they need (I was missing one last week, oops!). I also defoliated my babies this week. Hopefully the lower buds will thank me later! 😃 I'd like to add as well that all the previous issues that were visible on Matcha seem to be gone, which is good! Her leaves are healthier (a little too dark maybe) and there is no more "tigering" in her leafs! Once both stop growing I'll start giving them the rest of the nutrients to fatten up the buds, but I'll let you all know before I do it! Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy the photos!

Heeey!! Guess who missed the watering schedule again! 😳 At least my babies recovered fast... but heat where I live is just crazy right now! The average of this week was 30° C (86° F, which is veeery high) but there were some days that I reached 33° C (91° F) 😲 My girl also reached the size of 71cm. Somewhat less than what I was expecting but the buds are getting bigger and more beautiful, so I don't really care right about that. The smell is also getting stronger. Also Matcha isn't going to grow much more but her branches are full of beautiful flowers and I think she might end getting a little more resinous than her sister. Maybe she has a different phenotype? 😮 Her leaves are also darker and "harder" (probably it's the nutrients) if you compare them to Pistachio, maybe that's a sign? (besides her size). Anyway, that's all for now. See you all in my next update!

Hey guys! Another update! The flowers are growing big and strong, the smell is stronger too. 👽 This week I also decided to add the Phosphorus and Potassium supplements to the plants... but I'm trying to do it slowly, I don't want to stress my plants thanks to the nutrients so I'll add little of each and see how things develop! Some small trichomes are also starting to develop, which looks quite beautiful. Besides that not much happened so I'm glad. I also missed some waterings (no surprise, more can be seen in the timelapse) but once again the girls recovered rather fast! Damn you heeeat! 😅 Anyway, see you all in my next update! 👋

Hey guys! I hope quarantine is going well for everyone! And remember to stay at home if you can ✊ Regarding my babies, this week's update was OK. Nothing really happened besides that I once again missed my watering schedule 😟 and heat was not being kind. The tent reached a maximum temp. of 32° C (or 89.6° F) which as a lot but sadly there's little I can do about that 😢 There's a photo this week that shows how Pistachio looks after I didn't water her in the right day, the recovery is impressive! I also increased the amount of PK and gladly there are no signs of over fertilization as well, so I'll keep doing this! 😃 Trichomes are developing, some of them are white-ish but most of them are still transparent. They are getting there! I also learned a new technique for my macro photographies so probably they'll be better this week compared to previous ones! I'm eager to know what you all think! 😊 Anyway, see you all in my next update! 👋

Finally my weather is getting better! 🙌 and good day everyone! Both of my girls are maturing properly and I'm glad it wasn't extremely hot inside the tent, it'll help my babies to not stress too much. I also increased the amount of Silver PK 14/15 by another 0.5ml and the plants took it well! 😍 The plants (mostly Pistachio) is getting more yellow leaves (I'm constantly removing them) and that means my babies are getting close! 😃 So now I'm double checking the trichomes/pistils in my girls and thanks to that I can say the flowers in Pistachio are more developed than the ones in Matcha and I suppose that's because the lights are way too far from Matcha but I can try to fix that in the future. Anyway, see you all in my next update! 👋

Happy 4:20 everyone! 🙌 I hope everyone's doing well and please remember to stay safe! The buds in my plant are getting bigger! Two of the side branches of Pistachio could not hold the weight of the buds (you can see when they fall on the timelapse!) so I had to "hang" them to the tent, yikes! 👽 I also increased the amount of Silver PK by 0.5 but I believe the PPM was a little too high, so next week I'll try lowering the dose of CalMax to see if that helps. Some of the trichomes on the leafs are starting to turn ambar (while the rest of the plant are transparent or very milky) so I suppose the girls are getting there! They need a liiiiittle more time since there are still some immature hairs, specially on Matcha. The leaves of Pistachio are also turning lighter in color and I've been removing them everytime one pops up. Anyway, see you all in my next update! 👍

Sorry for being late with this update! 😱 Plants are maturing well but I noticed Matcha is developing slower compared to Pistachio and I assume that's because the height of the lights are very different from each plant, but both are still going forward. A clear sign of maturity is Pistachio's brighter color leafs and the amount of "brown" pistils on both plants. Trichomes are developing well too. Anyway, I think I will give Pistachio one more week and then see how Matcha develops to cut her. I also started to defoliate my girls, there were tons of dying leaves! See you all in my next update!

Okay I looked through the whole diary... That lady never got balance. And that's what I was trying to get at.. If both plants aren't growing in Green Zone it's really hard to say... But it's easy to see is obviously there is some discrepancy between what you were feeding one and what you were feeding the other. Two apple trees side by side one does well one doesn't... It's easy to dismiss the seed but the potential to understand and learn is greater if you look at things objectively. Like it doesn't bother me either way and I'm not saying it was 100% you.. Just saying it could very well be.

Sorry for the huge delay, I wanted to update this earlier but COVID-19 happened everywhere and many things happened where I live. Nonetheless, I have all the photos and I'll be finishing this diary soon. The smell of both of my babies was quite, quite strong. It even made me feel very dizzy every time I checked them. During the week the leaves from Pistachio started to turn yellow while the ones from Matcha finally started to show signs of the excesses and burn, the mistakes I made earlier started to become more and more apparent so it was only a matter of time. Also, everytime a leaf started to die I removed it as soon as possible... but that might become more evident at the time lapse I uploaded! This was the last week of flower for Pistachio, and I'll leave Matcha a couple more days with some direct light on her (I want her pistils to mature a bit more), but next week is finally the week when I cut them. Trichomes on both plants are ready! 😲 Thanks for reading!

Hey all! Sorry for the delay! And this is it, the last week! Pistachio was cut a little earlier than Matcha because I wanted to give her a little more extra time to allow her to mature a little more, but sadly I couldn't give her too much time since most of her trichomes were already starting to oxidise (which might sound appealing to some, but not so much for me). Still, I think the time given was enough! Thanks to semi-flush I gave to my girls I also managed to see what was happening to Matcha! The poor girl was suffering for so long! Anyway, my next update will contain the harvest information regarding my ladies! Thanks!

Here we go, the last post of this journal! 😱 And wow, what can I say? It was a journey full of complications, but very enjoyable in the end, not to even mention I tried a lot of different things! I learned a lot! 😍 It was my first time trying bigger pots (didn't like it to be honest) and when I started everything was going quite well for both of my girls but I missed the key factor of CalMag (I was watering with bottled water, durr) and Matcha never fully recovered which made both of my girls have different sizes and one with darker leaf colors. 😬 So, for the weights! Pistachio gave me about 81 dry grams (562 wet) and Matcha 49 dry grams (272 wet). Pistachio was way bigger than Matcha so no surprise there! But Matcha's buds were fattier and denser. I also tried two different techniques to trim the buds. I did a dry trim with Pistachio and a wet trim with Matcha. Dry trimming felt way easier, but I fear I've might have lost some trichomes in the process, which is not good! Still, I don't quite know which one I prefer. I might try the same thing again for my next project! Also, for the next time I'll also harvest a little earlier. The trichomes of my girls oxidized a bit too much for my own taste, giving me way too much CBN instead of THC. The best example is in the last photos I took after curing the plants. Anyway, I think that's all for now. Thanks everyone for following this diary! Take care everyone and good smokes! 😉
