Seed popped overnight and I'm excited to grow this strain. Pack came with 4 seeds instead of 3, its Wizard's Apprentice from Night Owl Seeds!
I'm concerned about the humidity being too low but I'm running out of plugs on the power strip so I may put a glass of hot water in there everyday.
I hope everyone can appreciate the retro quality of my flip phone pictures!!! I'm using Fox Farm Happy Frog potting soil and some worm castings for the substrate, adding about a 1/4 cup every week of the castings on top until flowering.
Seems to be doing well! I saturated the soil before I planted the seed so I have not watered much just 100 ml water with molasses on the 8th day so far. I'm worried about over watering as this is my first grow. I think next time I will add some more perlite into the soil the worm castings compact a lot sometimes.
Day 11 update, 3rd set of leaves is starting to pop out!
Day 12 update, playing music for the plant! I think it helps. Also started with grow big and big bloom at 1/4 strength recommended.
Day 15: Started LST with some wires as there are branch sites with leaves starting. I also poked some holes in the soil around the edge (trying to avoid the roots!!!!) to try and help the soil dry out a bit. I don't know why I watered it so much at first but the pot still feels heavy and I want to be able to add nutrients later this week and avoid stunting growth with over watering.
Day 17: Starting to smell...very sharp, gassy, and herby. 4th set of leaves is coming out and I'm excited that this seems to be an little ruderalis/indica phenotype, the leaflets are so round they overlap and look like a little toad. I'm not planning on watering again until day 21, soil is still kind of heavy. I'm pulling it to one side then I'm going to train it around in a circle in if it keeps growing that far.
Day 19: Hit with fish emulsion 2x and it seems to be helping a lot with growth. Soil has dried out, and I'm watering at 30 ml intervals so as not to soak everything again. I'm training everything down then will anchor to the side of the pot by the end of next week hopefully.
Day 21: The plant looks like a bunch of tiny green tarantulas hatching out of something. Growth is slow but steady, I'm going to let the top grow up instead of training it more to see what happens. There are 3 branches popping up from the center, and the smell is amazing. Watered with 60ml aloe vera juice this week also.
Day 23: Growth seems to have picked up a bit, I'm pinning some large leaves down so the newer branches can get light. Watering about 360ml per week
Day 25: Growing strong! Growth has picked up and feels normal now that the soil has dried out! Learned my lesson with that one. Plant is still small but 3 side branches are growing out strong. I'm constantly leaf tucking to expose the top bud and it seems to be working although one of the leaves got squished a bit but is doing fine. There are some pre-flowers coming out as well, just 2 pistils.
Day 27: Doing well, lots of new bright green growth! Smells like lemongrass
Day 29: side branches growing a lot! I am going to double up on the fish emulsion and big bloom this week the plant seems to love it. preflowers are starting and the buds are starting to stretch out, next week maybe flowering maybe the week after.
Day 32: Starting to stretch and flower! I've been able to train out 5 or 6 branches, and I'm defoliating (i call it exfoliating!) one fan leaf per day till the bottom 6 are gone. It's getting crowded and I don't want them to rot under there. Smells like pineapple and lemongrass and very sweet skunky, it's so great. Got some leaves pinned down do the top bud sticks up a little more. Going to start with tiger bloom next watering, before the end of the week.
Day 35: Growing great! Accidentally cut a leaf I meant to leave on but I think the plant will recover. I'm experimenting with organic fertilizers and just got some superworm frass from Frass Valley and some azomite powder, added about a tbsp of each to the top of the soil. I'm training a lot and I've been able to get 10 branches trained out. Started with tiger bloom last watering 1/4 strength
Day 38: Training the top cola over slightly, and I have most of the branches trained out and growing fast! I don't know if I have the correct measurements on here for the beastie bloomz, but I'm doing a 16th of a teaspoon per week, .25 grams per weight, 1/4 tsp is 1 gram per my measurements. I might do .3 g or .4 next week depending on how things look.
Also increasing tiger bloom to 1 ml instead of .75, still watering less than 1.5 L a week.
Day 43: Thinking I have a P or K excess, or N difficiency. Flushed twice with 2000 mL each time, then added 1mL grow big and 1mL molasses, seems to be greening up the leaves a little bit, and it it's only affecting one bud, in the photo. Leaf has more green on it than yesterday, so it is at least not getting worse! I think I over did it on the nutrients and shouldnt have increased even though I increased waterings
Day 50: Everything is looking great. Whatever problem I had last week cleared up after 3 flushes, then I watered with Azos, Azomite, and molasses. Many new hairs overnight after using the molasses, I read I could do up to 3 tbsp per gallon, so I'm doing 1.5 tsp per L. Some of the buds on the top bud look like monsters and I think I'll be doing .1g of beastie blooms this week, also adding about 1 tsp of molasses to each watering.
I might microdose tiger bloom and fish emulsion as well this week at half quarter strength. I'm not really sure what happened but my other plant (no diary) that also had nutrient burn has not recover as well! Some of the leaves are falling off while this plant looks healthier than before.
Hopefully I will be able to borrow a camera for harvest photos!!!
Day 52: Everything is looking great. If I water again by the end of the week I may use .25 ml tigerbloom, but still mostly molasses, fish only once per week. The plant stinks! I have to have the fan on all the time. The buds are stretching out and gaining height. Its like the plant has just been doubling in size every week.
Day 61: Well the photos do not do this plant any justice! Everything is explding and things are starting to fade slightly. I started with .1g of Cha-Ching last week ( that's like less than half of 1/4 strength) and the buds are just twisting out of themselves, small but dense. Next week I will need to change to 18/6 light cycle for 3 days to prep another plant for harvest, but then I'll go back to 24 hours. Watering with Azos again for the last time this week to hep use up any nutrients left in the soil.
Day 68: Flushed with half gallon of water and topped off with molasses and some azomite. I may be harvesting this weekend! Still checking the trichromes, many are still half clear. I will flush again when the soil gets light but for now I'm removing leaves as they dry up and die, maybe one a day, getting some yellow to orange fade. We're in the middle of the harvest window this week.
Day 71: Its fading to rainbow, I just don't even know what to say it is so beautiful. Hopefully I will be able to get a photo! Lights are 18/6 for the week and I hope to harvest this weekend. I have notice a difference, having a dark period, more trichromes turned cloudy overnight
Day 79: I hope to be harvesting this weekend, I have been making ice cubes with coconut water and aloe giving daily to try and get these trichomes to cloud up! I think it is working and I will hopefully harvest in 4 or 5 days, seeing some frostly cloudyness after last night, looking for some sleep meds!!!! but not too sleepy. The plant is rainbow and I will be not trimming it to preserve all of the beauty, I'm so happy! The buds are solid! I cant wait to grow this plant again.
