I have learned so much valuable information about VPD and how it effects plant growth and nutrient uptake via transpiration. It turns out that my previous grows had too low humidity in relation to air and leaf temperature (my leaves were hot from lights being too close for their intensity (anyone want to send me a PAR sensor?๐ )), my lead VPD was well over 1.8 and even over 2 in some areas of my tent.
I set up a divider in the middle of my tent to trap humidity on the veg side of my operations (there's an autoflower trying to flower on the other side) and raised my lights. I also set up an inline fan to push air in to the tent from inside our house to increase CO2 and raise lights off temp.
I have gotten the environment to a constant 73-81ยฐf @ 50-60rh with a leaf temperature offset of -3ยฐf (cooler near seedlings). I adjust light height to alter leaf temperature to keep it as close to 0.8 LVPD as possible. Doing this ensures that the leaf pressure enables the plant to uptake water from the root system at a healthy rate, with that water comes the nutrients required.
The next part of my operations I need to fix is my medium. I've based my grow on somebody else's methods without understanding how the plant or medium actually work. I am growing in coco coir and perlite with organic dry amendments, I am primarily missing humus. Humus is broken down organic matter, this is where all the microbes come from in our organic grows. I also need to find a source of Fine Dolomite Lime to add both calcium and magnesium into my medium, this will also help buffer PH between 6.2-7. I also want to get some Gaia Green Greensand for potassium and some Alfa Alfa meal for teas.
Oh yeah I've added Epsom salts and un-sulphured blackstrap molasses into every 2nd watering.
@Master_weeda, Hello!! ๐ I'm super excited about these genetics, even more so with your feedback!! The force will surely be with me if you are following along with this grow! Cheers mate! ๐ค๐ค
@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, perfect plan mate! Ahaha I got sick of stressing and stunting my autos so I'm saving the last of my seeds until I master my environment :P The Moonwalker kush genetics should be SUPER stable from what I've read about spliff seeds breeding programme so is a good starting place for us with their amazing genetics :D
