Noticed a little yellowing in the veins of the first set of leaves, I'm thinking its a nitrogen deficiency. The additional nutes should take care of it. I've also put a UV screen in to reflect the light upward and it cooled my pots to 67 daytime temp.
She's starting to get bushy. She responds extremely well to stress so Im going to give her some heavy LST this week and give her rest next week. She also got some very healthy roots thanks to the hydroguard. I can easily go two weeks with no rez change and algae and fungus are nonexistent.
She's exploding with growth but still not stretching much. I'm getting little preflowers all over the place so I'm thinking another week or two before she decides to start to bloom. The smell shes putting off is a nice sweet scent but its very weak. I'm pretty pumped for the upcoming weeks.
Moving my light up seems to have gotten her to stretch a little bit but not much. My trading has exposed many nodes and if my other plant can keep growing and catch up to her height I'll be switching to flower this week.
Starting to get some pistils forming at the top, within the next week or so the buds should start showing. The two lower tops are just about caught up so I think I'll keep them.
Getting some bud formation, going to keep nitrogen up until next week while it packs on more green growth. Here we go!
The buds are coming in nicely, growth explosion.
Nugs are getting a little fatter and tris are coming in nicely. Every day something new is happening. Still not much smell but soon enough shell be putting off a stank.
Starting to smell like citrus and fatten up a bit. Im trying to let the nutes drift a little more and keep them low because she has never liked high nutes and I won't have a super long flush hopefully.
Starting to put off a sweet citrus skunky stink. The frost on her is Insane especially on the underside. I'm at about 15℅ orange hairs so maybe about 3 weeks to go maybe 4 to finish.
Letting the nutes drift now and only adjusting pH. Shes really starting to begin to swell up now so I'm thinking about 2 weeks until harvest. I have a jewlers lupe arriving tomorrow so I can know exactly when to cut.
Still letting the nutes drift from 2 weeks ago. No algae thanks to the hydroguard, really awesome stuff. As soon as I start to get more amber tris I'm going to switch to straight ro water until she finishes. So close!!!
Calyxs are starting to swell so I switch to straight ro water for flush. I started to get algae and I think it may be because hydroguard is a live bacteria culture and the lack of nutes killed em all off. I cleaned the system and added some blackstrap molasses for carbs and sugar to see if that stops the ick. Maybe another week until I cut.
Still trying to find a way to get rid of this bacteria colony that found its way in. I just got some grapefruit seed extract which I'm going to experiment with, its plant friendly and I saw people have used for similar issues. Shes just getting done her final plump and starting to flush out nice.
This lady it a few days off from being done. She's good and flushed so it should be a smooth smoke. I've also not t been able to kill the bacteria colony but a good rinsing every few days seems to control it well enough. Now I get to try my hand at drying but I don't see an issue with that.
Grew relatively easy. She loved the light and hated nutes. I would recommend a longer vet, maybe 9 or 10 weeks to bring out the full potential of this strain.
She stared short and fat and ended the same. The tris came very early for this pheno and just kept stacking. She stayed fat the whole way through bloom and loves the light. Longer veg next time for sure though.
Good luck on your first ever grow. Seems to look like everything is going smooth so far. I have run DWC in the past, but given how hot and humid it tends to get where I live, I had problems keeping my rez at a decent temp. DWC has the potential to put out some nice plants. Looks like you have the nute ratios down, so I'll be watching to see how this turns out for you
@Irishvirus,I'm sure they will. If you can keep your rez that cool than you are doing ok. A little trick you can use is freezing water in bottles and dropping them in every so often. Works but kind of impractical when you work lol anyway good luck again
@couch_locked,Thanks for the input. I was having trouble keeping rez temps down at first but I moved some things around and put my air pump outside of my tent directly on the cold cement floor. It keeps the rez temp just above 70°. Took my time gathering equipment and did a good bit of homework so I'm hoping things go well.
looking great for a first grow
not able to look at the trichomes its hard to tell but most growers want to harvest early because they look done
remember that the buds will be like 3-4x the volume and mass as they will be dried so i reccomend you harvest by looking whether the trichomes are cloudy or not
super resiny and good branch development; liked and followed
Theres nothing I love more than logging on and seeing a beautiful little sapling in my feed. She looks like such a gorgeous little girl and I can't wait for the surprises she has in store for us. I'm excited to see where this grow goes and how it turns out. I'm even more excited to see the methods of training and the nutrient regiment you have planned for her. I wish you the best of luck in this grow and I'm ecstatic to see what happens. Best wishes buddy, Cheers.
Its actually some sort of bacteria colony that's is very hard to kill. If I would have gotten this early on it would have been the end. I'm flushing so I just keep rinsing the roots and changing the rest every few days.might try grapefruit seed extract on it.
Im getting algae every few days and I'm thinking it was due to a lack of air. The roots are all balled and may have slowed the air flow in some way so I took my stone off and sank the hose . seems to be more air moving around. I also lowered the water level so there's not so much to oxygenate.
@IslandGrower420,
That makes me feel good knowing I'm not the only one that ran into this! I must say that the one I had come in like an indica was sure hiding a lot of frost under the thick foliage!
@TheRealBBrown,
totally what i got going right now as well.... got three Cali OG Kush in DWC in week 6 of veg....2 are sativa like being tall and lanky with thin leaves, but the third one is dark green fat and bushy and pure indica....total opposite to the sativa ones...got great comparison pics I'm going to put up in a grow journal in a few weeks...
@Irishvirus,
That does give me a sense of these genetics maybe being just a little wonky. I have 3 going but the look like 2 different strains completely! One tall (not super tall) and lanky, the other short and bushy. They even have different grow characters.
@TheRealBBrown, mine are staying short too, no stretch at all. I'm using a 315w cmh bulb for both veg and flower. Its a full spectrum with a good amount of blue light but its going to be up to them when they flower. I'm predicting 6th week for the beginning of flower. I was thinking with only having a single 315w bulb and no reflector I was gonna run into stretching issues but no. It doesn't like heavy nutes either. I've got one two weeks behind my this one and its looking like a different pheno.
@Irishvirus,
Are you seeing some significant growth yet? I know with mine they seemed like they didn't grow tall like the normal sativa strain would. Even when I started to flower they really didn't stretch at all. How long do you plan on vegging for? I'm almost to week 8 of flower and my Tri's are still mostly clear. I have a few more of these seeds left. Look forward to bouncing ideas back-and-forth on this one.
@Irishvirus,
I have the same thing going on. Plant #1 and #3 look the same in grow pattern with #1 being much larger than #3. They are both coming in with great size buds and a sweet aroma and sativa traits ands looks like it will yield decently. As to where #2 seems to be growing a lot like an indica. Super stinky as well. I will be uploading more photos today.
@biggreens420, thanks I'm really happy with how it turned out. I was expecting more speed bumps with it being my first grow but not many issues the whole way through. Definitely learned a good bit.
@Irishvirus, I thoroughly washed the bag of clay with the wife’s strainer. I then left them to dry and then stored them in a cardboard box. When I need some I just toss them in pH’d water for 24 hours with my rockwool cubes. I’d suggest that when starting a crop after you clean everything soak your rockwool and clay in a generous amount of pH’d water and setup the rest of the system with pH’d water and run it for 24 hours before using. Also don’t put H2O2 in your tank if you use ANY organic nutes or supplements. 👍
@Tazard, I did for a little but in my excitement I think I might have rushed it. I've since read that giving them some time to soak and a thorough rinse is best.
You can also direct the incoming air (or air from A/C) to the tank with a little ingenuity. I think below 71 is good. I would consider adding Hydroguard as cheap insurance. Also be sure you have removed the chlorine or chloramine from your water (check local water company to see which they use).
@Tazard1, I'm lucky enough to have my tent in a cool area and my rez usually stays at about 67.6 daytime. I was getting a little slime and I got the hydrogaurd. I'll never go without it. That stuff is great.
WOW those look great. I had my litecoin one click away from buying these seeds but after doing deeper research I learned that Durban Poison was the perfect match for me. I am excited to see what kind of weight you get and to see the cured buds. Thanks for posting!
Looking good man,
I know I was hoping for a nice stanky smell on mine as well, but that didn't happen they way I was hoping it would. However, now that I am all jarred up, when you open the lid it smells of sweet citrus! Best of luck, the ladies are looking great!
