Another week done, finished up week 6 of flowering, week 10 of the whole grow. The buds are continuing to fatten up, inching closer and closer to harvest. Noticed the first few Amber tricombs on some of the upper buds, going to be leaning off the big bud and switching to overdrive to help aid in ripening and the final bulk. I’d like the run them another 4 weeks giving them a full 9-10 weeks in flower. But will judge harvest on a near 45/55 or 50/50, Cloudy/amber tricomb production.
@ProfDoty, I actually purchase all of my water, just natural spring water because my tap water has a very high ppm reading, so if I were to use that along with my nutrients I would receive major nutrient burn. I just toss about 8 500ml water bottles with ph balanced water in the freezer for about 4 hours. This typically freezes about 50% of the water in them and leaves the rest ice cold. I then water like normal and take the ice left over and place around the base of the plants.
@ProfDoty, not 100% on the science, or even sure if it works for that matter. I’ve talked to several growers with more experience then me. Some swear by it saying it helps ripen the buds at the end of the flower cycle. Simulating a first frost or cold weather at the end of the plants life in the natural world. This is my first time experimenting with this method but so far I can say I’m pretty impressed. The girls seem to love it, changing colors in the leaves very fast, not only purple, but yellows, oranges, and even some hints of reds. Doesn’t seem to affect the colors of the buds like cold temperatures do, but simply help give them one last push to help finish beautifully. Followed by 24-48 hours of pure darkness and these old timers swear by it.
@@ATOWN, glad you enjoyed! Keep an eye on my journal for the following 4-5 weeks and watch the magic happen! They are getting a very nice frost over them, it’s hard not knowing 2 of the 3 strains, however it also adds a bit of suspense and excitement to see where they all take themselves.
@DTHEREID, thank you! I appreciate it, they are finishing up nicely! Two of the three I actually harvested and are on day #2 of 6 of hang drying in my dry box set at about 60% RH and 64 degrees fahrenheit. Low and slow just the way I like it.
