Photo from end of week two shows two White Widow trees in the back and three Afghan Kush Ryder trees across the front.
The middle pot's Afghan Kush Ryder seed germinated before being planted into the soil, but didn't sprout after eight days. All other seeds breached the surface within thirty-six hours of being placed in the soil. I scratched away at the surface until I found her upside down and struggling. She came through in Week 2.
Introduced an additional BESTVA four days ago.
Trees were fed a mixture of Fox Farm’s Grow Big and Big Bloom early in the week and with the Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom nutrient solution to wrap the week up. Pretty sure that I let the soil dry out too much from the last feeding, five days. I did this to see how long I could go between feedings, though I suspect that this reference could only be used for vegetative stages of these strains and that much more water will be consumed in flowering.
Also, the White Widows seem to be in the early stages of flowering. The Afghan Kush Ryders are short and fat. I may have jacked up Afghan Kush Ryder Tree 3’s FIM so she has a funky haircut right now. The other FIMmed Tree, White Widow 2, is pretty.
My extent of LST is using my hands to love on the Trees by moving and stretching the stems and branches around. Kind of giving the ladies exercise. All five Trees exercise daily with me.
I realize that I should have introduced the ScrOG netting much sooner, but the trees are reacting just fine to it.
I did not really want to do it but the height differences of the two strains of trees were significant enough to create doubt about the lights not being strong enough to feed the Afghan Kush Ryders growth through flowering without burning the widow trees. I plan to ScrOG every grow if only for the benefit of the light hitting each cola equally.
I accidentally snapped a branch being too aggressive with the White Widow 2 early in the week. Totally kicking myself for that, it had a nice flower developing too.
The 'Grow Big' nutes were for Afghan Kush Ryder 2.
Nothing else to report really. The trees are becoming more aromatic.
Added 1 TBSP of Epsom Salt per gallon of water to treat deficiencies that I discovered using Jorge Cervante's Horticulture Bible. Thanks to a personal friend for loaning the Bible. I will definitely buy a copy after I return it.
Removed ScrOG netting.
Purchased a jeweler's loupe and spotted some amber trichomes on both White Widow trees. Afghan Kush Ryder 1 and 3 show minimal amber or milky, mostly clear.
Afghan Kush Ryder 2 is my pride and joy. I worried she would runt and wouldn't produce but she has turned into quite the little bush. Very proud of her.
I was hoping they would all finish around the same time so that I may clean the tent real good and get ready for another round of autos. I have three Pakistan Valley Ryder seeds from World of Seeds that will be the next grow. I have four auto varieties that came from Seedsman with my purchase as freebies: White Widow, Cheese, Northern Lights, and Amnesia, so I haven't decided on what trees to add to the PVR grow yet. I still have one more White Widow auto seed I may include because that shit is easy to grow, but I will have to keep it nice and low. The reason being that the Pakistan Valley Ryder is allegedly shorter than the Afghan Kush Ryder.
Nutrients are only for Afghan Kush Ryder 2.
Received my loupe and am now flushing with water for both White Widow trees and Afghan Kush Ryder 1 and 3.
Very thankful for my carbon filter in the tent.
Super stoked!
Well I hope I did not cut the trees too early but I swear the trichomes were all cloudy milk with some ambers.
White Widow 2's main cola was the first to fall. I then let the other colas on her ripen for two more days. Then I chopped her down. The smell is so pungent and funky. I love it.
White Widow 1's main cola was cut the same day as her sister and she went back to the tent for the lower extremities to ripen more. I have harvested a few more branches today but the bottom two are not ready.
Afghan Kush Ryder 3's main cola came down yesterday and the rest of her today. Some beautiful purple hues. Stupid frosty.
Afghan Kush Ryder 1's main cola was chopped after seeing those beautiful trichomes with my loupe. Then she went back in the tent to get those lower limbs.
Afghan Kush Ryder 2 is bringing up the rear.
The buds from both of these strains are DENSE.
I tried to baby them as much as possible.
I had no idea how time consuming harvest is.
