Happy me with two new varieties from the top breeders from Royal Queen Seeds. 🙏👌
One of them is Mother Gorilla (close to Royal Madre but improved) 💪
Thank you RQS for giving me the opportunity to grow these new strains 😍
Everything is going well. The seedlings grow well and their root system is in full development. A few seedlings take it a bit slower. 😃
Despite the fact that the seedlings constantly move a little - because of the wind of a fan - the long stems of the largest seedlings are no longer stable enough.
The tallest seedlings bend until they almost touch the ground. That's why I supported them with small bamboo sticks. These are particularly handy because of the hook they have at the top. 👌
On DAY 8 only 3 seedlings need support
On DAY 12 already 14 seedlings need support
I give the seedlings 1 liter of water every 2 to 3 days. The water is chambring at least 24 hours in advance. I pour the water into the trays (1/2 liter per tray), so that the seedlings can absorb it themselves. 💤
This week I have been busy. 😛
The leaves became more yellow, indicating that they had a nutrient deficiency. That's why I decided to repot them into 1 liter pots with Plagron Growmixn supplemented with perlite. 😵
Before repotting, I gave them a diluted nutrient solution once. I probably spilled some, which I think is the explanation for some stains on the lower leaves of some plants. 😱
The stems of the plants are now fairly sturdy and they no longer need support. This makes them easier to repot. 💪
It was not that easy to wring the plants out of the square pots. Believes me : round pots are easier to repot!👍
DAY 22: The plants have responded well to the repotting of last week. The new leaves are beautifully green and the roots are already fully developed. 😋
DAY 26: I have too many plants. This is because all seeds germinated and have grown into beautiful plants (except one). 😻 Because I would like to continue growing with the autopots (and I do not have 20 autopot pots) I decided to plant 4 plants per pot (4 x 4 = 16). 🙌 I take a certain risk, but because the plants will grow for only one extra week, I hope the plants will not grow too much in height. My intention is not to top the plants, but to tie them up against the planting sticks that I have placed in every corner of the pots.👍
For the pot mix I have re-used and upgraded the soil mix from my previous culture (El Patron) by adding the additives listed below. Unlike the last time, I filled the bottom 5 - 10 cm of the autopots with clay pebbles.
Pot mixture:
+ - 100 liters of recycled soil (50% perlite)
250 gr. Startex:
200 gr. Seaweed lime
100 gr. Kieseriet
100 gr. Betonite
25 gr. Mycotrex en RQS Easy Roots (Mycorrhiza)
I used 3,5 tablets per 24-liter pot (I didn't have enough Biotabs to use four per pot). 👊
I watered the pots with 15 liter water with 15gr. Bactrex & 30 ml. Orgatrex. 😨
Wait and see how this experiment ends .... 😊
Last week before flowering 😊😄😝
The plants did an excellent job last week. The repotting to the large pots has done them well. 👍
I have watered the plants 3 times now. First two times 5 liters of water, containing 1 tablet of RQS Easy Grow Booster. The third time 1.5 tablet for 5 liters of water.
Mind ! It takes a while before the tablets are dissolved! 😹
The color of the new leaves is beautifully green. The VPD is now also perfect most of the time with a value of 1.0 👌 For that I had to increase the relative humidity to almost 70%. 😭
I attached the plants that are somewhat larger, to the plant sticks, with a plastic binding strip. In this way I pull the plants to the same height as the smaller plants. This gives me a nice match canopy. The lower side branches of the large plants will now develop more, but I will remove them later. 👽
The plants now get 18 hours of light, so that the shock is a little less when they go to 12/12. 🙏
FLOWERING
First week of flowering. The first flowering phenomena are visible in the tops of the plants.😜
--------------------------------
GROWTH
The plants are still growing rapidly. To keep the size of the plants somewhat at the same height, I use the following techniques: 😷
1. Removal of the side branches (Defoliation)
-Small plants: I remove almost all side branches. In this way the small plants do not have to spend energy in the growth of side branches.
-Large Plants: I don't remove anything. The plants will put energy into the growth of side branches, so the plants will not grow too fast in height.
-Other plants: I remove the side branches in proportion to the size of the plants.
In the course of the following days, I gradually remove all low side branches!
2. Tying the branches (Low Stress Training)
-The smallest plants grow straight upwards.
-The largest plants are tempered in their growth, after I have tied them to the plant sticks with the help of plastic plant binders.
On DAY 5 the plants vary in length between 23 and 41 cm
--------------------------------
AIR HUMIDITY 😨
When the lights are on, it gets nice and warm in the growing room. To keep the humidity at the desired level, I have two 7.5 liter humidifiers working almost continuously. In less than 24 hours I have to refill them.
As long as the plants do not have real buds, I like high humidity so the plants to keep a low VPD.
--------------------------------
WATER and NUTRITION 😱
Due to the high humidity, I don't have to give that much water. Every 2-3 days I give 1.25 liters of water per pot. I add 3 tablets of Easy Grow Booster to 10 liters of water. I divide this mixture between the 8 pots. This week I gave 2 x water.
!!! The WATERING VOLUME PER PLANT PER 24H above, is in fact PER POT (4 POTS) !!!
GROW 😛
Plants have grown rapidly. GraduallIy I removed the side branches. They look very naked now. But experience has taught me that - especially with SOG - you can almost never overdo it, by removing sidebranches for up to 3 weeks of flowering (depending on the sativa/indica ratio). Usually these branches do not get enough light, so they do not produce many flowers. 😺
On DAY 12 : The smallest plant is 30 cm. The largest plant is 68 cm. 😊
------------------------------------------
BLOOM 😍
First flowers appear. The plants already smell very nice ! 👍
------------------------------------------
WATER + NUTRITION 😱
On day 8 I watered the plants by hand, for the last time: 5 liter water with 2 tablets of RQS Easy Bloom Booster. From day 9 I have connected the autopots to the water tank. Hopefully the biotabs tablets provide enough nutrition for the coming weeks.
------------------------------------------
AIR HUMIDITY 😨
To keep the humidity at the desired level, I have to refill the two 7.5 liter humidifiers daily. 👍
As long as the plants do not have real buds, I like high humidity for a stimulating VPD. 💪
The WATERING VOLUME PER PLANT PER 24H above, is in fact PER POT (4 Plants / pots) !!! 👌
GROW 😛
Pruning is growing 😍 Only 3 plants remain small babies. 😵
No more defoliation
On DAY 19 : The smallest plant is 47 cm. The largest plant is 112 cm. 😊
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
BLOOM 😍
ALERT : MALE FLOWERS 😥😪😭 on DAY 15 I noticed male flowers on the lowest node.. I removed the male balls manually (+/- 50). Probably a stress response to the strong pruning last week.
In the following days I have not seen any new male flowers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WATER + HUMIDITY 😱
+/- 6 liter water / 24 hours / 16 plants / 4 pots
Humidifier : +/- 7 liter water / 24 hours
GROW 😁
As you may already know, I have 2 varieties in my growroom. 👍
I have 4 pots of each species with 4 plants in each pot. So 16 plants Mother Gorilla and 16 plants Triple G. 👽
In the first weeks, the Triple G plants were the fastest growers. But since flowering, the Mother Gorilla plants have taken over. Most Mother Gorillas are now higher in length than the Triple Gs. They clearly have more Sativa influences than the Triple G. 💪
The 16 Mother Gorilla plants differ greatly in length.
On DAY 26 these are the various lengths (in cm) : 63, 67, 83, 83, 95, 99, 107, 110, 110, 111,, 114, 116,117, 126, 130, 134
The drastic pruning in week 2 has stimulated the plants enormously. The plants have been multiplied by 2 to 3 times in height since flowering
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BLOOM 😍
The plants are now busy making new flowers. The plants with the most Sativa genes do not yet have that many flowers. But the plants with more Indica genes are already working hard to string the flowers together to thick buds. The scent of the flowers is fantastic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WATER / HUMIDITY 😰
I have lowered the desired humidity again this week by 5% 👇 and the temperature is increased by 1 degree. 👆👇
The plants have made many new leaves. Every day (24 hours) the 4 pots (16 plants) get about 7 liters of water to drink. 😂
The '1.75 liter watering volume per plant' stated in 'Grow conditions' is therefore actually '1.75 liter watering volume per autopot'
Most of the water evaporates through the leaves and therefore the humidifiers evaporate less and less water. At the beginning of the week, I had to fill the two humidifiers with 7 liters of water every 24 hours, now every 40 hours. 👌
GROW 💪
Growth has stopped. The Mother Gorillas are mostly sativas and have therefore reached a considerable height (up to 141cm). A few plants have remained small.
NUTRITION 🙌
The plants receive their nutrition via the biotabs tablets. I put four plants in each pot and I put 3,5 biotabs in each pot.
No shortages. 👌 On the contrary, the leaves of the Triple Gs are darker than dark green 👽 and the tips of the leaves show no signs of burning.👍
42 days later after repotting and using the biotabs tablets., I have given- as Biotabs recommends - the plants a one-time dose of 20 ml Orgatrex (5-1-5) on 500ml water per pot. This Growth & Flowering booster is a greasy substance full of organic material.
"Orgatrex helps to maintain your soil life in optimal condition. You need a healthy soil for healthy plants and Orgatrex helps you to achieve this. Orgatrex works great in both the growing or blooming cycle. With its high content of trace elements and sugars, Orgatrex works in harmony with beneficial soil bacteria and mycorrhizae fungi. NPK: 5–1–5 with balanced quantities of Zn, Cu, Ca, Mn, Mg, S, Si and Fe. Certified 100% Organic. "
FLOWERS 😍
The plants are now investing all their energy in flowering. They make more and more flowers and the trichomes are now developing at a rapid pace. The flowers and the smaller leaves now seem to be covered with a silver powder of trichomes. The scent is delicious and with the slightest touch the scent sticks literally and figuratively to your hands.💪
Every day I remove one or two fanleaves that cast a shadow on the small flower tops.
WATER 😨
All 16 plants consume 9 liters of water daily for 4 autopots (24 liters). There are 4 plants in each pot. 😐
I try to keep the humidity below 55%. Because of the rainy weather that is not that easy. I don't want the temperature to drop below 25 ° C during the day. At night the electric heating is on, which keeps the humidity below 50%. 😘
Not much to do this week. Plants are doing great !
Since a few weeks the leaves have small spots. They are not insects, not spider mites. But I don't know what it is.
Started to add BioFinale PK 0.5ml/500ml water/24l pot
I did a lot of defoliation work this week. Plants look very naked now. 😻 But more light for the buds 😛
= Less leaves = less water (-25%)
The plants don't make many few new flowers anymore.
Half of the plants have nice fat buds, swelling and getting hard. 💪
Pistils turn brown.
The other half is much slower ripening. Some have foxtail buds and will need more time to ripen. 👻
Some plants are very small and will have low yield. 😏
One plant (#15) is extremely fat 😝
The plants are doing very well. The plants are not very homogeneous. Neither in height, nor in flowering time.
The plants got their first week of cold nights. Let's wait to see if beautiful colors emerge.
As last week, the 4 autopots of 24 l., (each containing 4 plants), received a nutrient solution of 0.5 liters per pot every 5 days. The plants receive the rest of the water through the autopots.
I forgot to take pictures of plant#14... 😩
DAY 63 / 9 weeks of flowering. Last pictures of these sativa's. Ready to harvest 😛
Not all plants are equally ripe.. Some plants have hard ripen buds. But some plants could use one or more extra weeks of flowering, 😶
The fragrance varies widely. From fruity candies to strong diesel scent. 😊
The size and appearance of the plants also varies greatly. Not really suitable for SOG. 😪
This week only water. 😨 Low RH% 40-45
---------------------------------------------
Plant size and description :
#1 89cm Promising in the first weeks, but ultimately only a small plant with a low yield.😥
#2 144cm Monster-tall beautiful large sativa-like plant, with beautiful fat buds. I love her. 😍
#3 144cm By far the most typical sativa plant. Enormous length with loose foxtail buds. Could use a few more weeks of flowering. 😵
#4 129cm Tall plant with fewer buds. Maybe because this girl is in the corner of the growing room where she doesn't get that much light. Nice and ripe anyway.😳
#5 117cm Beautiful semi-tall plant. The buds may not be as fat, but they are nicely ripe. 😉
#6 92cm Very photogenic rather small plant. The buds seem to spiral up to a fat top. 😃
#7 123cm Large plant with many sativa influences. Pointed hard top studded with trichomes. 😛
#8 124cm Like # 7, a nice big plant but with leaf greenery woven into the buds. 😋
#9 102cm Half to rather high plant endowed with one of the most beautiful buds. Sativa-style bud, but swollen, hard and ripe. Magnificent! A lust for the eye.😍
#10 65cm Small plant. Lower yield. Many brown hairs. Pretty ripe. 😄
#11 71cm Very small even thin plant. Pointed small tops. Undoubtedly the plant with the least yield. Still lovely. 😊
#12 111cm Semi-tall plant. Floppy side branches, but really nice buds. 😀
#13 113cm One of my favorites. Beautiful plant with very fine decorative flowers. Very fresh and tasty appearance. Delicious! 😍
#14 92cm Rather small plant, but with firm hard ripe swollen buds. Yummy. 😘
#15 126cm Incredible plant with a fist-sized huge super-fat head top. But also beautiful side branches with thick buds. Exteme heavy yielder! 😝
#16 88cm Small plant in the corner with relatively many buds. Pointed head top. 😚

Week 14. Harvest
Happy Harvest Day!
Mother Gorilla - formerly Royal Madre - - Royal Queen Seeds
Mother Gorilla is a new and improved version of Royal Madre. The strain is a cross between Reina Madre (Queen Mother) and Gorilla Glue (GG # 4).
As with any cross, the offspring have pronounced Reina Madre as Gorilla types and everything in between.
Reine Madre has a complex terpene profile with sweet, sour and spicy aromas. However, the buds are rarely pronounced sweet or sour. The vast majority of the plants are rather spicy. However, it is difficult to give a specific description of this spicy aroma. When smoking, you can recognize it by its specific taste.
The Gorilla specifications are also there: high in THC and the fantastic aromas of pine, chocolate and diesel.
Mother Gorilla has a stimulating sativa-dominant effect. Energy and excitement without being overwhelming. A stimulating and creative effect. Euphoric at higher doses.
The strain is great for small gatherings and parties and puts you in a social mood. It is also ideal to enjoy at home, if you are looking for some inspiration and introspection.
The taste is rather spicy. With some plants, this gives a pronounced taste that may not please everyone. Sweet and sour is always well balanced, but never pronounced. The effect is mild and rather social. Larger doses really create a strong euphoric mood.
The plant is fairly easy to grow. Her branches are fairly sturdy for a sativa, but also flexible enough for just about all pruning and bending techniques. Flowering time is at least 9 weeks.
I am very satisfied with the autopots. You can leave for a few days without worrying. I wouldn't use them if you live on a floor. Occasionally they leak sometimes .... The pots are wet and heavy, but strangely enough you don't have problems with budrot.
Here is a list of all 16 plants:
# 1 89cm 13.9gr Small Plant, Small yielder. Incredibly soft aroma, with a very subtle Reine Madre taste. Delicious!
# 2 144cm 53.0gr Beautiful large plant with a high yield. Beautiful buds. Sativa. Hazey. Excellent!
# 3 144cm 33.0gr Pronounced foxtail sativa buds. Lower yield. Softer aroma than # 2.
# 4 129cm 28.7gr Perfect mix between sweet and sour aromas. What a beauty!
# 5 117cm 37.6gr Surprising yield for this smaller plant. Balanced sour / sweet. Great!
# 6 92cm 21.2gr Beautiful plant. Seems a bit like the small version of plant # 13. But here too the aroma is less pleasant.
# 7 123cm 29.0gr Hazey taste due to the many sativa influences. But also surprisingly sweet. Sugared with trichomes. Superb!
# 8 124cm 38.0gr Good hard bud yield. With a pronounced strong spicy Reina Madre aroma. Don't stick your nose in the jar for too long. Splendid !
# 9 102cm 24,7gr Most beautiful Sativa-style buds, swollen, hard and ripe. Magnificent! A lust for the eye. And that taste ... incredible!
# 10 65cm 16.3gr Small plant, low yield. Small tops with beautiful brown pistils. Subtle slightly spicy sweet Reine Madre fragrance.
# 11 71cm 15.6gr Too bad about the low yield, but what a wonderfully soft and sweet aroma! The tops smell like super soft shortcrust with a very light touch of vanilla. Fantastic!
# 12 111cm 24.0gr Less pleasant odor. Catpiss ...
# 13 113cm 54.0gr Very different plant. Looks a bit like Critical 47 from Positronics that I once grew. Plant # 6 is also such a phenotype. Probably stray seeds…. Large yield of skunky buds with many orange-brown pistils. However, the fragrance is not skunky, but unpleasantly sour.
# 14 92cm 21.4gr Top quality. Firm hard ripe swollen buds. Beautiful brown pistils. Many trichomes. Fantastic aroma. Splendid !
# 15 126cm 67.1gr Extreme heavy yielder. Rocket-shaped mega top. The weed is less beautiful and has less trichomes, but does have the typical Reine Madre smell and taste. Topper!
# 16 88cm 16.4gr Small plant with small buds and relatively much leaves. Low yield. A lot of trichomes.
