Here is another BlackJack clone, the genetics come from Nirvana. I hesitated for a long while, but its time to get more serious with this one. Day 57. To note: its mother has been given too much nitrogen and was a flowering disappointment. This clone suffered for weeks above a cold basement floor (see other grows), and is only recovering. Green has actually returned. It has been a long road. I have transplanted twice, the most recent into 15 HP Pro Mix soil: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog soil: 5 worm castings, and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. My lighting is a 300 actual watt draw full spectrum LED, with 1/6th of that again in a smaller pod.

The second of the BlackJack trio of clones, day 74. The positives continue, and it has been a long road from before starting the diary and yellow leaves, until now. Even this past week’s progress was awesome. Continuing water and light. After this round of photos I did some LST which you can sort of see in the group shot.

Day 81 since cloning the second of the trio of BlackJacks. I performed LST and did a single bend. I also heavily defoliated and exposed all the stem to form new branches. I also topped. It looks mangled but give it time to fill back in. No transplant yet, and just water.

Day 88 since cloning the second of the trio of BlackJacks. The hot soil mix has forced the plant on the verge of excess. Its growing, but the amount of little vegetation everywhere is showing plentiful nitrogen. The leaves, streaking purple stems, thin leaves in other places, would all be excess or lockout/imbalance. Nothing to worry about, time and water. It will make future defoliation a pain. I am trying to get some strong offshoots to balance the canopy ... still waiting. Still a positive outlook.

Day 95 since cloning the second BlackJack clone of the bunch. I decided to transplant this one and ended up just absolutely hacking away with scissors. I reduced to a twig and will watch it return. I want everything (parts of the plant) to have a solid chance to catch up. Now for some water, time, and observation, aka. TLC. Note that the specks on the fan leaf are not pests (I examined, calcium deposit from water?). My soil amendment mix was primarily: 30 HP Pro Mix: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog: 5 worm castings: 2 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 2 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 2 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Blood and Bonemeal pellets: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 pulverized egg shells; and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. I tried to layer it more than in previous transplants, that is I put soil mix in the container and then filled the sides and to the top with just straight HP Pro Mix.

Day 102 since cloning this iteration of BlackJack. Growth is fine, very strong. It has bounced back from defoliation but with the amount of nutrients and specifically nitrogen available, it is a but stringy and soft (malleable). So its a bit of a mess. I defoliated and a couple of the last pictures reflect that. Its just a hassle and taking space. Not one of my favourite plants on the go, but still very loved! Just applying water.

Day 109 since cloning the second BlackJack. Things are just cooking, and even though this plant is sort of jammed in the very back behind a bigger plant, it is growing vigorously. Stretching for a bit of light isn’t always a bad thing. Pics were hard to do today as I have zero access to the plant. Just water and time. I trimmed and topped after photos.

Day 116 for the second of the BlackJack trio of clones. Everyone has had such diverging paths. The first is in flower. This is the second. The third shares a container and is also in flower. I think temps have stabilized now that I’ve cleaned out the tent of larger plants. This one will be the next to go. I’ve topped again and will continue to do so as I try to manage the canopy. I’ve only given water but will consider plant food if it continues to struggle to be consistently green and have purple stems. This is a very manageable week for my tent! Lots of room!

Day 123 since cloning BlackJack. Rapid advancement of discolouration and purple branches/stems this week. If its deficiency I still did not want to feed anything before departing for three days lest something went wrong. When I returned it certainly was worse so I applied some plant food on mass in the tent to see how everything responds. I don’t like the idea for this plant going into flower soon, but the colour of the plant was for sure regressing. I gave 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato food, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), Earth Alive Big Blue Wave. I won’t give anything through stretch so it should be okay with a bit more nitrogen to fill out. Stay tuned and we shall see. The first group shot is before this week’s defoliation.

Day 128 since BlackJack was cloned. Rough times with the yellowing and badly deficient stems. I fed plant food as stated last week, and as much as I have seen green return, it has been a long process. Unfortunately (fortunately), the time to flower has come. So we shall see how much the less than vibrant green will effect things. It will have residue plant food for a bit, and then I will be feeding phosphorous and potassium in flower anyway. I’m throwing multiple plants in and so lots of space should open up. Even though I already have some started from other BlackJacks, I did take two clones off this one, larger branches that were established but had no chance in terms of canopy.

Day 137 since cloning this BlackJack clone. One week of flowering complete, seven weeks to go. Its an 8-9 week projection. I really let it dry out and soak up all the plant food I had previously given. The colour did change so I am hopeful it was over the deficiencies. Because of the advancement I did decide to feed some food, no nitrogen. So I just went into the flowering food. 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) and a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses. My flowering tent is 6’ x 4’ and hung mylar like my veg tent. I have two main LEDs that are the same as my veg., 300 watt full spectrum. I also have 96 watts of yellow LED bulbs intended to supplement that spectrum. I also have two, 50 watt LED pods that are mixed spectrum. They are custom made so I only have an approximation of spectrum.

Day 144 for BlackJack. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. Buds are slowly forming. The plant/leaves weren’t in the best shape going into flower so I can’t say I expect a fast start. I gave water a couple days ago, and so in a couple more it will get more food to help bud production. Still lots of time to go. I have got rain recently, plus have been flushing some other plants, so the humidity is very high today.

Day 151 since BlackJack was cloned. Three weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. Also experiencing the darkening like the rest of my BlackJack plants. Similar feedings, but could also be temperature? Looking good, starting to get the subtle sweet, black licorice smell. I recently fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Rotated the positioning of the plants.

Day 158 for Black Jack. Four weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go. This is similar to another BlackJack, the sugar leaves are dark purple. Looks cool, but I think its a deficiency/lockout. At this point maybe its because I’ve been so liberal with molasses, and its too much iron locking out other things. I’ll get something off of it, but something to ponder. Sweet smell coming off. Last irrigation was water.

Day 165 since cloning BlackJack. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. I last fed five days ago, 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike. I am going to try to squeeze in one more feeding before the end. We shall see the timing, I may elect just water. I have interesting visuals in terms of the purple, looks cool.

Day 172 since BlackJack was cloned. Six weeks of flowering complete, two weeks to go. Flushing away with water and waiting until the end. Still sticky with sweet smelling resin. Lots of fade as the leaves expire. Not much else to say!

Day 179 for BlackJack. Seven weeks of flowering complete, one week to go. Everything looks epic. I love the purple hue. The countdown is on. I am just continuing to flush. I will try to remember to do one more update before harvest!

A review for: Blackjack, Nirvana seeds. BlackJack has quickly become one of my favourite strains. Mid range, dependable growth and yield, solid effects, and nice growing visuals. This past plant really did truly fade as I did a bit better with using up amendment, and whether deficiency or not, produced dark purple buds. Lots of plump density suggests its not extreme deficiency. During growing, BlackJack produces a faint, sweet smell that can be licorice-like at times. When cured, the smell/flavour is nice and sweet with a deep fragrance or flower smell. Maybe an undertone of musk, maybe. It really is nice, not overpowering. This flavour mixes well with others. The effects are for sure sativa leaning, and strong! One thing that is nice about BlackJack is that it can consistently kick your a** if you vape enough. Love it. This is literally a 9.5/10. I really want strains to work hard to get that perfect score, and so maybe a bit more yield would do it. The rating goes up for this one each time. Highly recommend BlackJack, and Nirvana. All my lineage has been from one seed by the way.

Business as usual here. After water for a couple weeks, I gave some extra dark and then harvest. Wet trim, bud wash, and then hang to dry. Wash: first, dip and swirl in a container of baking soda, lemon juice, and water; then rinse in a container of water.

Had never such a contrast in colors like that! Seems like it's suffering from nitrogen def, but that's now how it happens... Beautiful!! Although I compared the beauty to a deficiency

@Psilocubensis, I assume it is a nutrient imbalance of some kind, still cool though!

Yah! Nitro toxicity! I got it twice in two weeks, too man. Luckily we both didn't let it get too far and caught it. Like you said, lost a bit of time, but psh. Good eye and way to go on fixing her up👍
