Blackjack is a sativa dominant cross between Jock Horror and Black Domina, having a high THC content. It is well suited for medical purposes. The plant can grow in any growing conditions and usually reaches an average height. After 63-77 days, a crop of 400-500 g/m2 appears. Large buds have a sharp aroma. The strain gives a powerful effect that will last for a long time. It is often used to relieve pain, relieve stress and depression. The taste of the smoke is spicy, pine and earthy, with citrus hints. This is a good daytime strain, giving a moderate effect of relaxation and talkativeness. This variety does not cause paranoia and anxiety. It is deservedly loved by the medical marijuana community.

This variety was super easy to grow and she survived all kinds of neglect and hardship LOL. I topped her and stuck her in the garden and then I ignored her for the most part... until I saw how amazing her flowers turned out. She took a long time to mature though, and we live in Ontario with a very short growing season. I'm not sure this is the right growing zone for this variety. She would have liked more time to ripen up before the frost and fall wind and rain would overtake the sun and warm weather. However... she survived strong winds... and even some broken and duct taped limbs :) I started this plant indoors in the spring during COVID19 lock down. The germination date was the week of March 25, 2020. I didn't start the grow diary at that time because I was having a really hard time coping with the COVID19 non-sense and I wasn't sure I was completely committed to properly documenting the grow. In the end, I think this grow helped me cope... ha! I hardened her off over the last week of April, and then put her in the garden during the first week of May. I didn't offer her any additional nutrients, except the compost mix that was in our spring garden soil top up. I watered her with a slow drip irrigation hose which I left on over night once a week or so depending on the summer heat. The buzz from vaping BlackJack is energizing and the flavour is citrus and yum! This plant delivers as advertised. Good work Nirvana Seeds Co.

An absolute stunner of a plant in terms of sheer physical beauty. A very nice structure with one topping an early LST. A bonafide conifer once she gets going and stunningly symmetrical. Deep orange hues and a healthy stacking of milky and amber trichs. My first grow and a cultivar to behold and remember. Was a bit less resistant to heat and humidity issues than the other plants in the garden, so requires a bit more careful measuring at fertigation

Harvest report for MiteJack, I mean, BlackJack by Nirvana. As many of my grows that were in the wrong place at the wrong time, BlackJack was overwhelmed by a pack of ravenous killer spider mites. They had a taste for leaf. This plant did not begin infested and so its a sad end when you get to about week 3 of flower. You can see it was doing its own thing, random update, and then toast. Thats how fast an exploding mite population can be. But I digress, lets overview: These two started taken as regular clones. Growth was moderate as best as I was exiting winter and realizing how much temperatures were effecting things. I also didn’t have the amendment I have now, and was more inconsistent with soil. Still, a little bout with deficiency, a little food, they entered flower in just okay shape, but the initial stretch and performance indicated they were fine. As the mites moved, I got a shipment of ladybugs which certainly slowed the population down. Still, reenforcements were too late, and within a couple days these BlackJacks had it too. Unlike other BlackJacks in the tent, these plants were less infested but more importantly less developed. I see that a plant that is only partway and gets mites has far less potential than a beauty plant that gets mites further in development. My next step is to move the plants outside for a week or two in the Canadian Maritime summer climate to allow predators and harsh weather to go to town. Again, in comparison to previous MiteJacks, the pistils were still white at this point and so I was only going to get so far with the plants tossed in the shade. Yield took a big hit, even for mited plants. Another factor in the youngness of infection, is the lack of full development of the flavour profile. It tastes and smells in the typical range of BlackJack, but because of wash (see below), and the partial swell, much of the flavour is missing. Normally, the sweetness is much more pronounced especially in aroma. Potency never gets really effected with mites and so this is still sativa leaning, nicely placed in the head or eye sockets depending how much you blast. You just end up vaping less because of the lack of flavour. BlackJack is sort of in the middle of the road for frost, and I usually see a decrease after a omnipotent miting and then scrubbing. I’d still recommend BlackJack as this was a specific case. Check out Nirvana, I recommend, and this strain is worth your time. Disappointing experience this time 🤷‍♂️🏻

This is a review for BlackJack by Nirvana Seeds. I’ve done this strain quite a few times but never with this type of a bug twist. No complaints with early life, these clones were exactly how I pictured batch rotation going, and was going to be the new HPS christening. Little did I know the mite storm would soon be upon them .... It was sad losing the most impressive buds I’ve grown to cobwebs. There is a history of some treatment as they entered flower, but it was not complete, and the high heat low humidity environment caused the population to exponentially grow. I lost a sense of the smells and aromas. As well as the stickiness of the bud. I released many ladybugs to help take down the numbers. The BlackJack then spent some time outside in the Canadian Maritime summer climate, which also drove off the spider mites. I bud washed at the end (which is described below) and this salvaged a good portion of decent quality bud. I was still able to appreciate the density under HPS and the strain’s genetics once again. But, a good proportion of flavour and smell was lost. Effects were still present, sativa leaning, but present for both. I do find it just an overall slathering of effects, just generally stoned. Of some of the mited plants these were the least crystally, however this strain isn’t normally over the top with trichomes. Overall, I’d rank it a 6.5/10. I have indicated 7/10 but its certainly low leaning if its a seven. I have some other mite plants to follow and so this rating makes more sense in a larger scope. The bud was good, it wasn’t of poor quality, but it was a bit stringy where it was damaged and covered and overall stripped of some of the sweet smell.
