I plan on just growing this one Jack Herer I received with my Seedsman order. The plant is about 26 days from seed, topped and defoliated for now and planted in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. I originally planted the seed into a standard solo cup in which it stayed in for 2 weeks before being transplanted into a 2 gallon pot. Monday, Oct 16th will be the start of week 4 from seed.
This Phenotype of Jack Herer (Seedsman) has shown a lot of growth in this fourth week as new tops grow strong and stems thicken. I'm still waiting on my other plants to finish flowering, so more than likely I will be vegging for another 4 1/2 weeks before I can actual get the Jack Herer into the tent. I'll eventually invest into a grow tent to avoid having to wait like this....
I continue to be amazed at the speed in which this Jack Herrer from Seedsman is growing. Recently, I ran into a little bit of weird bleaching/yellowing of my leaf tips on some of the newer growth but not on any of the older growth, so I need to do some research on that issue before it becomes a bigger problem. I may roll another 2-3 weeks in veg before switching to 12/12 for flower. I would like to veg until December, but I'm worried about vegging too long in the 5 gallon and getting root bound, plus I don't know how much I'd feel like dealing with a 7-10 gallon pot.... But who knows
Stay Swift, Mates!
This week I decided not to do any feeding of nutrients, just some good ole H20 , ph'd around 5.5. I haven't seen anymore bleaching of tips so I'm guessing the raising of the lights helped and possibly the change in PH (my levels were off). I'm starting to think I may turn this plant into a mother plant, eventually taking 6 clones, selecting the best 4 of the 6 to start a scrog. I feel as though if I just grow this one plant it'll take forever to fill in the tent for a scrog
What up my Glip Glops?! It's Topkat5, I'm currently having some trouble restoring my account after I discovering that my laptop doesn't like beer as much as I do. For now, I'll be using this name while I wait on The Grow Diaries customer service squad to get back at me.
Updates: After a bit of research and debating I decided to switch from Botanicare's Pure Blend Pro Grow (Organic protein shake for plants!) to Fox Farm's Grow Big. So far, the Jack Herer seems to be enjoying the new steroids. A few days ago I decided to switch up my lighting setup so I now have 2 LEDS (Off brand called Global Star) on the sides of the plant and a HPS Hood with a 400watt M/H (currently running at 300watts or 75%). I'm still trying to figure out the whole balancing of nutrient when feeding and ppms during veg and flower. For now, I will be focusing on getting my PH to about 5.8. Hit me up with comments/criticism, I am willing to learn and have discussions.
Next, I plan on setting up the scrog by the end of next week (week 8), then I'll do another 2-3 weeks to fill in the net before flowering, possibly taking 4-6 clones before hand.
Stay wise
This past week has been super stressful with work and life so I haven't given the Jack Herer, as result I'm starting to see some weird markings on my leaves, I made sure to check my Ph and ppms before watering, However; I tested the ppm in my run off but not the ph (Rookie Mistake: you should check your ph and ppms in the water you are using to water the plant and the run off from watering your plant(PH the soil). If you have any advice please leave a comment, I'm always looking to learn more about what I enjoy doing. For the next two weeks, I plan on letting the plant stay in the same pot for the next two weeks before switching into a 7-10 gallon pot to veg for 2 more weeks before flowering. I want to make sure I get her Big and Healthy first!
Growth has been slow this week since I'm in a bit of recovery now from over nuking last week, but she seems to be rebounding okay. I did a plain watering in between the nutrients feeding to allow more time to bounce back. I also noticed that I was over watering my plant in a sense and letting it dry out way too much before watering again. I was giving my plant a gallon of water every watering but I've noticed that this Jack Herer tends to like a half gallon in the 5 gallon pot, 2-3 days later it is generally ready for another Watering without being bone dry depending on the temp in the tent.
Thanks to the advice from growers on the site, I've decided that I'm going to let her grow without doing any more shaping, using her as a mother plant from which I'll take clones from in 2-3 weeks.
After continuing to leave here alone with defoliation, she is continuing to grow steady into a bushy plant becoming wider and not really gaining any height. A couple of more weeks before I transplant her into a 10 gal for 2 weeks before 12/12. I want to run a scrog on this one but I need to do some more research on the whole SCROG process, I'd love to fill out the 3x3 while I veg in my other grow area. If you have any advice on growing monsters or scrogging, please drop some knowledge on me.
She is continuing to grow like a beast as we sail through week 12. I want to give a big shout out to @Bigpun for the advice on leaving her alone, I was over stressing her with all the shape training and all the defoliating. I finally got my OXYCLONE from Amazon so I will probably be taking 4-6 clones next week. After that, I'll give her about 2 weeks to recover from taking clones and scrogging then I'm going straight into flowering.
This is just the beginning of week 13, but I figured I'd go a head and do an update since I've done some new things in the garden. I went from 20/4 to 18/6 so now I've been seeing a little more stretching between days, she has also gone from watering every 2 1/2 -3 days to drinking every 2 days. This past weekend I decided to take clones after hitting up @Bigpun for advice, I was only planning to take 4-6 clones but like most rookies I got over excited and took 15 clones lol. I'm definitely in over my head with clones but I'm excited to see what the hell I'm going to do with my Jack Herrer troops. I'll do another update Friday on the "Attack of the Clones" Jack Herrer clones and on the mother. Peace Out, Cub Scouts!
I finally gave in and decided to start flowering at the beginning of the week, instead setting up a scrog to wait another 2 weeks to fill in the net.
Also, I've been meaning to put up what I give to my plant when I'm not using Grow or flower nutes.
3ml-Horomex, Hormone accelerator
10ml-Botanicare Cal/Mag
8ml Dyna-Gro-The Silicon Solution
*My run off today was at 6.2 Ph after watering with the above ingredients on 1/5/18
Coming to the end of week 2, and I'm now finally seeing a lot more pistols. I was starting to get worried because after week one of flowering I didn't see any pistols and the plant hadn't started to stretch yet. However, at the start of Week 2 she started to stretch like a beast and widen out even more, and towards the end of the week I started to notice pistols shooting out pretty much every on the plant.
I plan on flushing the plant once the soil is dry, ph was 7.2 which is a little higher than I'd like to have it.
@diamondtrichomes, Hell yeah, no problem man. Let me know if you need anymore help. I should be updating my diary today or either tomorrow but I'll make sure to put a video up of the oxyclone and the roots that have developed on my cloned Jack.
I was wondering if someone could give me their advice on whether or not I should transfer the plant before flowering to a 7 gallon or a 10 gallon? I l plan on buying a larger this pot weekend, and allow the plant to chill in the new pot for 2 weeks before flowering. Thanks for the help, Mates!
@Bigpun, I was thinking possibly the 10 gal as well, but as of recently I'm beginning to dislike the shape of the plant so I'm thinking about just taking 8 clones from it to just do a sea of green or scrog. I can't figure out how to reshape the plant into an healthy even looking plant.
@ChewVodka85, nice grow buddy it would probably be fine to stay in the five but I will always suggest moving up I've had great success doing so 7 or 10 gallon would be fine either or if you go 10 I suggest vegging a little while longer so maybe 7
Wow what a comeback! You should write a book about this ladies comeback. Might turn into into a movie 😂. Lookin top knotch. Crazy to think she was leafless a couple weeks ago.
@biggreens420, Thanks man! It's a struggle, I've been growing auto flowers for the past 2 years so this is my first photo period plant. I've been using this time to learn this thing called "Patience" and it really sucks because I'm impulsive at times and spoiled by auto flowers. Hopefully, she will be as good to me as I have been to her.
@@Colorado, That's how I feel! I'm glad they get along too, but I think having a really amazing group of friends and family that are around all of them constantly also helps! We live a full, fun, and heavily buzzed life :)
@BudKingsGrow, Naw, I'm not about that Declaw life lol. My cat has all his claws as he should, I need him to be able to defend himself if he gets out or some other unwanted interaction. In my opinion, declawing a cat is like getting a pit bull with no teeth. Wheres the fun in that?! That's cool as fuck that all your little homies all get along.
@@Colorado, I've got Kineta (Mamma), her daughter Tizzy (Big ol fat cat), Baby (a dwarf rescue), and 2 kittens Dani and Aria who are also rescues. Plus a 2 year old German Shepard named Hans! They all love each other tremendously and we couldn't be more blessed to have them all! Grown cats will define very quickly a boundary for a new kitten (at least in my experience), and that boundary will keep things mellow. I will tell you to not declaw your kitten though, so if there is any kind of confrontation they will have defense lol.
Did the problem start on the first feed after the big defoliation?it could be nute burn due to the big defoliation bacause before she had a lot of leaves and greenery to feed and then after the defoliation she could still be trying to use to much feed and not have the same amount of leaves as before if u know what I mean
@ChewVodka85,thats it were all learning I didnt know for sure it just seemed a coincidence it happened afterthe defoliation. ill be watching for the update glad to hear she is recovering though
@biggreens420, I'm thinking you were right about me over nuking the plant last watering. I haven't seen any more damaging of older fan leaves and new growth, however; she's growing slow as a result of recovery, im guessing she's still stress even though it's been a couple of days. I plan on just giving her tap water and may be some Great White for now, the next time I feed it will be very light, I read up on Jack Herer being a little sensitive when it comes to nutes so tread lightly. I'll have an update up soon
@biggreens420, True! I wish I would have already transferred the plant, but I may do it this weekend and then wait two weeks before flowering. I'm just afraid of things getting cramped at the bottom of the 5 gallon pot, root wise... I wasn't sure if it would get too crowded down below with 8-10 weeks flowering...
@biggreens420, Yea, I plan on switching her next week or the week after. I'm debating whether or not to just flower her in the 5 gallon or transplanting into a 7 gallon before hand... I just want to try to get as much out of the plant.
Looking good nice bush you definitely learned patience on this one she should pay off nice just make sure u keep good airflow on her cause she's gonna be stacked
@@Colorado, you sure did put in the time I'm gonna be trying a Neville haze pretty soon and I will have to learn patience with her lol she's a 16week flowering strain madness
Great looking canopy! Jack is a weird strain and sometimes seems to grow so slow, but your nutes are good and with excellent structure, Im sure your flower period is gonna be beast!! Cant wait to see her!
@@Colorado, Of Course Man! I'll always support growers because only growers have true passion for the bud! Plus, Jack is one of my all-time favorite strains!! A No-Brainer Follow!
@BudKingsGrow, Jack is definitely a weird growing strain for me as well. I honestly thought my jack herrer would be even bigger by now because I've done less veg time on a couple of strains that were bigger than my current grow. But, i'm hoping she will hook me up in the flowering stage for the slow growth. Also, my pheno type doesn't seem to grow as tall as it does wide. Thanks again, man. I really appreciate you checking out the grow
@moutain, Do you have a Cool tube or Hood? I keep both because I like to swap them out depending on the amount of plants in the tent. Are you planning to by an HPS bulb or just use the M/H for flowering? You'd need to consider an exhaust fan too for cooling your fan and pulling heat from your tent/grow area, consider a good ventilation system for grow area. I don't know, I'm 8 deep in PBR and burning up a log of Cali Kush so I'm probably not that helpful. Whats your current setup? (light wise)
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, they said that it'll get 2-3x bigger in flower, one website even stated, 150%-200% stretch during flowering but that's all hear say. I am planning on vegging for another 2-3 weeks while i'm deciding on some new Senzu beans . I need to get a decent number off this plant so I can also upgrade my lights and tent for the next grow. My tent is a little ratchet right now. I wish they would do a little market place on here to sell or buy used items.
