This was a bag seed from Purple Trainwreck. Decided to give her a go and try our first time growing. Week 1 took a while to germinate but popped after 5 days and grew a bit out of the soil. Grow Setup... 2x4 tent... 60” tall Soil: Fox Farm Happy Frog Soil Lights: Sunraise 1000W LED x2

Roots started to show through the mesh in the rooter, so I went ahead and put the plant in a red solo cup with happy frog soil and raised the light up another 15” or so for be about 40-42” Previously I had the light close to 24”-30” away from the seedling but I killed one and burnt the other pretty bad. Hoping it pulls through. Grew another inch and stressed a bit. Looking better towards the end of the week.

Lots of stem thickening and leaf growth. Starting to get side stems on my nodes. Leaves are darkening up nice since transferring into a red solo cup the previous week. Planted a bag seed from a mix of white widow and berry white that popped this week as well. Going to throw it in the same tent as my purple trainwreck plant since it’s the only thing growing so far.

Accidentally overwatered the plant at the beginning of this week. Transplanted to a 2 gallon self draining pot after noticing the roots were all the way at the bottom of the red solo cup already. Droopy at the beginning of the week and grew over an inch and perked up by the end of the week! Widow X doing great as well and growing way better than the purple trainwreck did at the same age. Moved the widow plant into a red solo cup with happy frog soil.

FIMed the plant at the very beginning of this week after I noticed the plant had started preflowering. I also started low stress training. I suspect the plant is female based on the shape of the preflowers. I also waited until the end of the week and took two clones off her using clonex rooting gel and placed one clone in Rockwool and another in coco coir then put them in a humidity dome. LST- the plant’s main stalk is somewhere between 6-8” long but actual height is about 4” from the soil.

Started using fox farm’s trio this week. Started them at the seedling dosage for big bloom and grow big and have worked up to half of the recommended general feeding this week. Repotted both purple trainwreck and widow x into 5 gallon containers this week with more happy frog soil. Three clones are doing okay, suspect nutrient lockout on my smallest rooted clone. I didn’t soak the rockwool it was planted in and the entire clone is yellow and red... it is rooted so I’m just letting it sit for a few weeks. I may toss it if it doesn’t grow. The other two are rooted and taking off well.

Defoliated this week and got lots of new growth out of my purple trainwreck mother this week due to it. Left the clones and the widow plant alone for the most part, just continuing to low stress train the plants. Purple trainwreck is still showing preflowers but no pistils. Still suspect female based on preflower shape.

Have two clones happily vegging along now and two clones that are dying. For the first time ever attempting to grow or clone I am happy with a 50% success rate. I decided to kill one that was rooted and yellow so if you count roots as success then that would be 3/4. PT responds vigorously to being defoliated. Love her response to it and intend to do it again soon.

Defoliated heavily for the last time. We will be switching next week to flower. Plants responded well last week to being defoliated. Low stress training the two remaining clones out. I will be keeping one clone in flower and moving the other smaller clone to veg.

Made the switch to flower, plants are growing good and are stretching well. Added an exhale CO2 bag into my tent as well to try and increase CO2 a bit. Figured it couldn’t hurt to try!

Plants are showing pistils and are all female! Took a few widow X clones after finding she was female. Tent is beginning to smell and fill up.

Plants are really taking off! Smell in the tent is strong, widow is still stretching but the PT is not stretching so much as she is still seeming to try and bush-up so to speak. I have all three plants in the ScrOG net and it seems I will have a full tent. Buds are beginning to form and add some bulk to them as well. Took pictures with lights off this time to show how they’re growing.

Strong smell so far inside the tent this week, hoping they’re done with stretching and hoping for more bud development this week. Trichomes are beginning to cover fan leaves. Watered with straight water at the beginning of the week to flush out excess nutrients in the soil. Continued fertilizers as normal the rest of the week. Plants in 5 gallon smart pots are drinking 1 gallon every 24-36 hours. I’ve been feeding cal/mag and sweet raw every watering and also feeding big bloom and tiger bloom every other watering.

Grow Questions

Greenbean15started grow question 5 years ago
This is my first grow, I am on day 27 of flower and don’t want to over-defoliate. Do I continue to remove larger leaves as they come through the net or stop removing foliage entirely? PT is short, and wide should I remove lower bud sites? Used some lowers as clones but lots left.

Hi Buddy great looking plants. I have little experience. But as far as I know if your plants have responded great to Defoliation during the whole grow there should not be a problem Removing any Un necessary leaves, you need to make sure that your root system is healthy and up taking The necessary nutrition. To me buddy Defoliation is been always necessary when training a plant they all tend to get bushy after any training methods. Be slow on Defoliation take your time and remove leaves only covering bud sites and ones that don't get any light you will notice the once not receiving light are dropping when lights on, you don't want to over do to stun her right now in flower because off to little leaves and making her work to hard 😓. Good luck and help this helps.

Took the ScrOG net out since I had messed up and let the plants get too bushy. Maybe try a full ScrOg next time. This time I think we’ll finish without it. Defoliated a little bit last week and took it slow. Tent smells strong this week when opened, very thankful for the carbon filter in the tent. Hopefully I get better bud development in the coming weeks. Currently watering each plant about 1/2 gallon every 24-36 hours each. Flushing this week then adding new ferts and lowering dosages.

Day 40 of 12/12. Tent smells strongly still. Used straight pH 6.4 dechlorinated tap water all week last week with no nutes. Did a 7 day flush. Started adding low dose nutes back to the plants this week. Bought the foxfarm dirty dozen and started feeding the “soil” feeding schedule. My plants are in happy frog mixed with perlite but they have been in the same container without any top dress for over 6 weeks. Purple trainwreck smells a bit spicy but very sweet. Berry or grape-like would be the best way to describe the smell. Slight skunky scent to it as well. Buds getting bigger this week and lots of trichomes. Made some cannabutter out of larger leaves, underdeveloped buds I had removed and stems from throughout this grow. Worked very well. Checked the dried trim I had under a loupe and it had some trichs so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. I didn’t expect it to work really and used 4.15 ounces of trim in 1/2lb of butter. Ended up making peanut butter cookies with it. The cookies felt great and lasted approximately 4 hours. Was relaxing but not unfocused or like I couldn’t move. Started with a body buzz with a slight head effect... then slowly creeped up to a strong cerebral high. Another person said it felt as if their movements were in slow motion. Widow X smells more sour with a slight sweet undertone as well. No spicy scent to it, mostly just sour and earthy smelling. Buds finally started to get bigger. This plant didn’t show pistils until 1.5 weeks after the PT plants, it was also slightly younger. I suspect I will harvest the PT sooner than the widow plant, the widow plant just isn’t maturing like the PT plants are. Update: noticed some improvement on buds within 24 hours of foliar application of flowers kiss.

Plants seem to have responded well to the flushing between week 14-15. They were flushed for seven days with nothing but neutral water to help with the nute burn. New nutes were added after that. Fan leaves are dying and buds are fattening. Checked trichomes and I’m thinking I will begin flushing this week. I’m hoping for a 10-14 day flush unless I start seeing a lot of amber. I’m feeling torn and may harvest the purple trainwreck plants at two different times. There are a lot of cloudy trichomes but there’s still lots of white pistils being thrown out as well. Didn’t see much amber, some buds have more clear trichomes than others. The clone’s buds appear further along than the mother plant. I may flush only one plant this week and start the flush on the other in another week or so. The widow x plant isn’t ready to flush and is growing strong. I accidentally left my timer on “on” when I left during a weekend during week 3 of flower. The widow x plant started to reveg a bit from the 48 hours of light. I forgot this happened entirely and for a while couldn’t figure out why the buds weren’t fattening... but I’m fairly certain that is why that plant stalled so long. So far no hermies or males! That was several weeks ago. I’m now on week seven of flower so I’m hopeful for a completely seedless grow. I will continue adding photos throughout this week. Harvested the bottom branches off to make room for my next flowering plant. I couldn’t wait any longer, it’s getting too tall and I’ll run out of room. This is the clone that was taken the same time as the flowering PT clone. It has been in a veg tent since being removed from the flowering tent. Buds from lower stems are drying and look good so far... Wet weight- .75 ounces~ 21 grams Dry weight- ~.20 ounces~ 5.5 grams

Getting ready to harvest one of the Purple Trainwreck plants next weekend. I’ve decided to harvest the mother plant this weekend and wait another week for the clone plant. Plants have been getting straight water for a little over a week. I did go ahead and harvest popcorn buds off the mother PT plant last week. I have struggled with getting the humidity below 50-60% in my tent so that being said, I also wanted to thin out the middle of the plant so the larger colas wouldn’t be blocked from light. The buds on numerous stems were touching and starting to stick together. I don’t want to get bud rot on any of my larger colas. Total harvest off the mother PT so far: Wet weight with stems: 3.75 Ounces Dry without stems: 30 grams Day 60-harvested another 1.25 wet ounces... not dry yet I have not touched the PT clone that’s in flower, I have another PT clone in my veg tent for clones. I also harvested some smaller buds off the Widow X Plant. I have two clones of this plant in my veg tent. Wet with stems: .75 ounces or 21 grams Dry without stems: .20 ounces or ~6 gram Harvested another 1.15 wet ounces. Not dry yet Setup: 24”x48”x60” tent Two 1000W Sunraise LED lights 6” Vivosun inline fan Two clip fans Plants are in 5 gallon cloth pots with happy frog soil and perlite. Nutrients: Fox Farm Dirty Dozen I have learned a lot with this grow, I’m excited to see how my future grows turn out. I have started a perpetual grow and have a second tent with vegetative plants. The newly flowering plant that was added to the flowering tent last week is a purple trainwreck clone. I think it will be quite the monster once it’s done. I have been essentially lollipopping this plant but not entirely. Any feedback appreciated!

Plant grew how I would expect an indica dominant hybrid to grow. Super resilient strain, took a beating, had cuts and defoliation all throughout the grow. Ended up with 2.4 ounces off one plant. I still have a clone to harvest and my other strain of course. Love the way this strain feel, seems to be great for anxiety. Buds are pretty with hues of purple on some of them. I think if I could’ve gotten my tent colder there would be more purple on them. Regardless, definitely a strain I see myself growing again in the future. Harvested the mother plant on valentines weekend and the pt clone and widow x the following weekend.

Plant seemed to produce well, if I had taken popcorn buds off early it would’ve helped the yield a bit. I thinned out the plants a little too late into flower. I also left the lights on one night during flowering and she did reveg a little. The buds got denser after I removed the popcorn buds but the plant seemed to stall a little over a week. Never took well to defoliation, will definitely defoliate early next time with this strain. Grow was fun... total results are as follows...
