Clones rooted this week and has some new vegetative growth on them. My intentions with one clone is to root it, veg it for about a week, switch it to flower for a week or two and then move it back to vegetative lighting. I intend to take many clones off this cutting. The other two clones are backups in case I had issues rooting.

Clones are doing great for the most part. Two have good roots the third was put into rockwool and has nutrient lockout from high pH. I’m unsure if that one will make it. I will be throwing the larger clone into flower with the mother plant. I only need one plant for what I want to do.

Two out of the three clones are still living. Both cuttings have been under 12/12 lighting since the beginning of this week. The larger clone will remain in 12/12; the smaller one I will attempt to reveg once I get my other tent and light in.

The larger clone will remain in 12/12; the smaller one I will attempt to reveg. This is the last week in 12/12 for the smaller clone. “Clone 2” will be put under 24/7 lighting at the end of this week. The larger clone “clone 1” will be flowered out and the rest of clone 1’s week by week progress is in my “purple trainwreck first grow” journal.

Clone 1 is now in the flowering tent and the rest for that grow in in the”first grow purple trainwreck” journal. Clone 2 is stretching good and has remained mostly vegetative. Threw pistils, smelled strong and stretched a bit In the weeks prior. Plant continued to stretch this week, stalled and then started working towards vegetative growth. Tied the four main apical growths down on the plant since the top had split into four main branches, plan to keep cutting her back and training her until I have room to flower her out. Should have 4-5 weeks left in the flowering tent for the mother plant before I can throw this girl in. Lots of new vegetative growing in center of plant, I may have to cut her back more and train the new vegetative growth in the center rather than trying to save these larger branches... only time will tell!

Still trying to throw pistils...No bud formation... just pistils and weird growth. I have some seedlings and clones under the same light and decided to switch them to 18/6 lighting instead of 24/7. On high alert in the veg tent, found three aphids on a clone. Pretty sure it came from a mint plant I had been nursing back to health that was in the tent for a short period of time. It was mostly separated from my other plants, only had two clones next to it for about a week. Only one of the clones had any aphids. Haven’t found any other signs of the aphids in the tent in about a week. Never found any aphids on this particular plant, just found them on one clone that was also in the same tent. I intend to continue inspecting all plants in this tent very closely. All purple trainwreck plants had curled leaves one day during the week. Temperature maybe? Not really sure what caused it... no other strains had this happen and it happened in both tents. I run the same light at the same height in both tents. Flowering tent has two Sunraise 1000W lights in it and veg tent has one Sunraise 1000W light in it. Moved lights up in the veg tent and increased airflow during the middle of the week after curled leaves showed up. Plant color lightened a bit and no more curled leaves appeared.

Grow Questions

Curled leaves occurred in both veg and flowering tents only to my purple trainwreck plants. Checked leaves with a loupe and couldn’t see signs of any pests at all. Only occurring on my PT plants in all tents. Other strains seem 100%. Only on large fan leaves, any ideas or help?

That inward curling is simply high heat sign.that leaf must be too close to light and having high temps in there, that's why it is curled like this.by the way the plant has some Nitrogen overload.pull back from grow bottles for a while.good luck

Plant seems to be fully vegging again now. Has been starting three finger leafsets now rather than one and two and is no longer growing pistils. Still has pistils from before and smells very skunky still. Once she starts growing 7 finger leaves again I will likely throw this one into the flowering tent. I was going to use her for clones but this particular strain is exceptionally easy to clone and I have other clones of this strain to continue the genetics with. Defoliated this week and repotted. End of week update: full vegetative growth again. I will be moving this plant into flowering as soon as it recovers from my super cropping attempt. I repotted her into a 5 gallon cloth/smart pot sent to me by Sunraise lights as a gift for purchasing and using their products. I suspect my issues with the PT plants was actually root related. This plant and her clones have enormous root systems and I believe all my larger PT plants were struggling with high temps in the tent and a restricted root system. Even though this clone was taken off the mother 11/30, the roots in the 3 gallon pot were very constricted and wrapped the entire pot. I may need a larger pot to flower this one in rather than flowering in the smart pot I’ve moved her to for now. The root ball was very dense on this plant and the other PT plants in flower that had the same symptoms have been in their smart pots for an extended period of time.

Stalk thickened up where I supercropped this last week. Moved her from the veg tent to the flowering tent. Hopefully this one is better than the current purple trainwreck plants already in the flowering tent. I think the mother was a good first grow but I’m excited to see how this clone turns out. The mother PT is finishing up while this clone starts. Defoliated her before moving this one into the tent. Hoping for larger, fewer colas off this one. The mother plant was strongly low stress trained and has a lot more branches than this clone... I was a lot more aggressive with defoliation on this clone than I was the mother plant. I removed all the lower growth again before moving this one into the flowering tent. Think this plant is going to turn out much better than the mother plant.

Defoliated heavily this week, that will be the last time I defoliate. Almost lollipopping this plant but not entirely. I’m hoping for big colas on this plant; the mother plant to this clone is the big flowering plant in the upper left corner. It was a lot bushier and I didn’t defoliate the mother like I did this clone. Pistils are showing and I’m hoping to find a better balance with nutes this time. So far, so good. I am only feeding once every 7-10 days. She gets pH adjusted tap water other than that right now.

Lots of pistils forming, she’s growing good and stretching hard still. Mostly level top, hoping for lots of uniformity during this grow! Removed the mother Purple Trainwreck plant entirely, she harvested about 2.4 ounces dry. I think this clone may yield more. Only feeding her once every 7-10 days. She’s getting straight water in between.

Getting bigger and bigger... haven’t been feeding her very heavily but her leaves are darkening like the heavily fed mother plant. I think I figured out my problem finally, my pH meter was off and the pH of the water was way too low(4pH rather than the 6pH I thought I was watering). Buds popping up everywhere; ScrOG’ed her to have a bit more control over the grow. She takes up almost an entire 2x2 area of the tent by herself. I have four other plants in with her that I have to flower out. Plants in the flowering tent right now: Pineapple Express, two bag seeds(one I think is berry white and the other is either white widow or purple trainwreck... I mixed the bud up in the grinder so I don’t know which seeds came from what bud... I wasn’t expecting seeds at all since it was dispensary stuff but ended up with seeds in all three strains I bought that day)... I also have this purple trainwreck plant and one white widow plant all in varying weeks of flower.

Bud development going strong this week, seeing lots of sugar leaves and new bud sites forming each day. Hoping to see the buds stack a little more soon. All seven plants are in flower now, this purple trainwreck plant being the furthest along. She should have another 4-6 weeks left before her chop.

Discovered a male plant in the larger tent with the majority of the flowering female. Moved this older purple trainwreck plant and the male plant into the smaller tent since this plant is so large and far along in flower. I’m hoping to only pollinate specific branches on each plant to ensure both a seed harvest and a good bud harvest. As stated in previous updates, I am discontinuing growing currently and am only finishing up this grow. I wanted a dual harvest for both future seed purposes and good quality bud. Lots of trichome development this week, buds are starting to fatten up and gain some weight. Smells fantastic in the tent, sweet berry like smells with a tinge of sour.

Forgot to update this week. Didn’t get many pictures of the whole plant, buds are looking fantastic and the tent is smelling nice too. Going to give her one more shot of nutrients this week to keep her going just a little longer and then I’m flushing her entirely.

Watching her closely, she’s getting there but isn’t quite ready. Tried a bud off her and she’s already pretty potent. I am waiting 10-14 more days I think... maybe longer depending on trich’s. Hoping to get a little more amber and a little more swelling to the buds. I had to put a trellis net in to help support the buds, some were getting close to snapping. My favorite bud is on the top right, she’s weighing that branch down nicely. I’m excited to see how this plant finishes up.

Finishing up this week, turned mostly cloudy last week. Plan is to chop her when trichomes are about 30% amber... likely this weekend. Going to stick her in the dark on Thursday and hopefully chop on Saturday. Tester buds seem great, nice strong head buzz, took a few branches off for my husband who prefers the head type high. Chopped her this morning... she hung and drying. We ended up with 7.3 wet ounces. Will update next week with dry weight. Smells a bit diesel/fuel like with sweet berry/grape type undertones. Skunky aroma started at the end of the week right before chopping her. Male plant did end up pollinating some of the bud. I have been finding a few green seeds here and there. Main tent doesn’t appear to be totally pollinated, a few seeds sporadically throughout the grow but most of the bud seems clear of seeds thankfully.

Grew much better this time! Much stronger bud and smoother smoke, tastes berry/grape like with diesel undertones Feels sativa at the front with a nice indica couchlock that sets in after about 25 minutes or so.

Absolutely love this strain, she finishes up pretty early and has very good smoke. Flavor is flowery/fruity and somewhat pungent at the same time. Had 7.9 wet ounces that dried to 1.8 ounces. Not as bud heavy as my first plant but this one was trained entirely different. I removed too much growth at the beginning with negatively affected my yield but I also think the buds may be better due to less overall flower on the plant as well. I have one more PT plant that’s in flower and I’m thinking she’ll be even better than this plant. The yield will be larger on the next plant as she has twice as many colas already. Happy growing everyone! 👩‍🌾🏼🌱

Id recommend watching your PH also, especially after being on the edge of overfeeding. PH is the key to your plant being able to eat what it wants when it wants. When reveging remeber that your nutrient needs are making a 180 and the plant has to catch up. I always go real easy on the food when i reveg. this link has some good info on ph and nutrients https://www.growweedeasy.com/ph#soil-pH

FishTicklecommented5 years ago
It's always good to check your soil ph also. You can use a medium meter or test the run off. If your soil or medium are way off the mark you choose adjust your feed water. if your soil ph is 7.5 and you want 6 it is safe to water with 5.0. I avoid going lower as 5.0 is on the bottom of the acceptable range. I 100% agree that the single feeding and soil should not have created a hot situation. Your education is going to be very helpful, even if horticulture wasnt the focus. All plants have the same needs, just different Amounts at different times. I've always had the luxury of well water, I am unfamiliar with water conditioners. Would you mind sharing a link for the product you use?
