This is my third try as a first time grower. First fail was over watering. Second fail was light too close. Third try is a charm. I did get all three seeds to germinate by using the light nail filing tip
So far so good. A little yellowing on leaves in week 2 but okay.
Week 3, fixed the yellow spots by being more careful about pH, I think. Thanks to a comment, I have increased the distance between my lights and my plant. I'm also fighting my tendency to over water. Things are still moving along well. I'll post updates on Wednesdays. FYI to those who commented, thanks. For some reason I'm having trouble confirming my email address, so that hasn't allowed me to reply to your comments. Trying to figure that out now.
It stalled late last week but now things are moving quickly again. Everything is healthy.
Not sure if it's related or not, but I clipped two bottom leaves that weren't quite as healthy as others. Things picked up from there, but it might b a coincidence.

Week 5, everything is still going along well. It's hard to imagine 4 or 5 more weeks until finished, so we'll see. It's starting to smell good 😋

Week 6 and all is still well. I added some LED lights so the bottom third of the plant gets light. These are not strong and they are helping the smaller colas grow. My LED lights clamp to a step stool then I can reposition each one. The stronger lights are up top about 19 inches above the plant. The lower lights are about 6 inches by away. No burning or curling of leaves happening. I've noticed her water uptake has increased to about 1/3 a gallon every day and a half to 2 days.
I know it's controversial to trim autoflowers but this seemed right to me since all my colas now have light and everything is thriving. This might slow things down some but that's okay. I'm experimenting. See you next week. Hopefully it will not be a disaster because I removed maybe 10 fan leaves.
Things are still progressing well. There are many more flowers than I was expecting, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing in terms of maximum production. Not that this newbie is expecting to achieve that, but I'm more curious than anything.

Changed out the fly paper yesterday because I had some fruit flies. I accidentally touched the sticky paper to the plant and tore a few fan leaves. Ugh. I pruned them and there don't seem to be any problems. It's always something.
Thanks for the advice to just let this go without expectation on number of weeks. I was anxious about it taking too long for an auto.

A great week. I'm thinking yield will be an ounce when all is said and done. We'll see. I'm also thinking two weeks to harvest. Happy to read tips on increasing yield if anyone has some. Thanks!

According to calculations, this grow cost me about the value of an ounce of good quality cannabis. I won't know this quality until after harvest, but I have a bit less than $500 invested all in. Taking it out of the tent was a setback, just necessary because, life. 🙂
Yes, I've defoliated, a lot. I'll never know what it could have been had I not made a few mistakes along the way. But I'm very pleased with the result so far and this is a good newbie result.
Another week or so, then I'll harvest. It had some nice filling out this week, so I hate to cut too soon.
All this time at home, I hope to get the next grow going and leave them outside as much as possible.
Advice on harvest time welcome. TIA.
Not much product but it's wild. With a quick dry method on a few buda, I was totally lit. What you see in the jar is a partial harvest. Letting the bottom nugs fill out before cutting the rest. Thanks to the person who suggested the bandage after I topped.
Doing okay on your third grow.👍
Don't worry about time as in weeks to harvest concentrate on what the plant says not what the breeder says on the packet. I would call week 7 flowering and look at about 6 weeks till harvest. All depends on how you like your trichomes I like mine to be brown and well developed. Cant see why people grow for 11 weeks then chop because the breeder says so when trichomes are clear and not milky. Autos are sensitive to nutrients and don't usually need the full percentage advised I usually have mine at 1/2 the recommended ratio. All good this time and its better not to water than over water have fun👍
@MommaDuke,
Hi if you look at my two early diaries they were autos and took longer than the 11 weeks stated but Ive also noticed significantly that light schedule pays to be 18/6 with autos as my current diary shows. I previously did 12/12 and yield is reasonable. 18/6 pushes them and takes the time to near the breeders figures. Have fun and learn lots this diary keeping does help newbies like us and plenty of peeps give great advice👍
@kitkat332986, thank you! Your thoughts answered all my anxieties. Good to know on nutes for autos. It is progressing a bit more slowly than I expected, but I was imagining 9 weeks, all in. I'll let it go until it has the tell tale sign you note. It's doing very well and I have the lights finally right. Watering seems to be going well since I remove any overflow. But I'll cut back a bit more and see how it goes. I'll post another picture tomorrow. Thanks for writing.
@doggiedeb, I should have written "scuffed" the seed. After much research, it seemed people were having success with that due to allowing more water penetration. The cautionary tale is not to stress the seed as I've also read that's bad. One newbie to another - so what do I know? :-)
@Rusticbuds, thank you for following up. Yes, I fixed the yellow spots by adding nutrients. Cal-Mag, Flora Grow, Bloom and Micro in recommended amounts and Dr. Earth 707P Organic 8 Bud & Bloom which I heard was good for autoflower - I'm using this sparingly and plan for every two weeks. Since getting all this right, things are going along well. No yellow on the new growth.
@MommaDuke, glad you got that figured out👍 I noticed your growing coco. What nutrients are you using and have you added any Cal-Mag yet? The yellowing of the leaves
is probably lack of calcium and magnesium (Cal-Mag)
@Rusticbuds, thanks! I was having trouble confirming my email which was why I'm late in responding. Took your advice and things are still moving along well. Finally fixed my email too!
Finished growing the bottom buds. I got another 9 grams, dry, from the residual after letting it grown for and additional two weeks under lights. Very happy with the quality, if underwhelmed by amount. Still, an ounce about covered my expenses (if I'd had to buy weed) so anything after this is to the good. I have five plants growing now.
