Roommate watched plant towards the end of this week, seeing a little bit of yellowing on the tip of one of the original leaves. I was using the same nutrient solution all week and PH got a little bit high. Just replaced solution going into week 2. Still have not figured out how to use the EC meter.

Are the cotyledons supposed to go away? Mine are looking pretty unhealthy.

Hey dude and welcome to the community! They are nothing to worry about really, sometimes they fall off sometimes they don't. What I would worry about is giving nutrients so early because you can see its already damaging the plant (the yellow leaf tips) I would hold off for one more week on nutes and then start to add little by little. As we say on the kitchens, "you can always add but can't take away"

I would love some help if anyone has used blumats in coco. I feel like I am doing it wrong and am screwing up my plants but can't find a good guide for on coco instead of soil. Do I need to flush with nute solution when I use blumats? They seem like a recipe for salt buildup

Ah yes blumats. I have used them in coco coir for 4 runs. My most recent was my moby dick from last year. After using the blumats and pulling my hair out each and every run, I put them in the shelf and went with timed drip feeds and/or flood table. I kept my blumats on a constant slow drip the best I could. Somedays for no reason they stopped dripping and other days I came home to my catch tray flooded full of what was I my reservoir because a blumat stuck open and "ran away". My advice is make sure you use some sort of clearing agent like florakleen at least once every few weeks to a month to keep the small flimsy drip lines from getting blocked by salt build up. I still flushed her at least once a week with low level nutrient solution to keep salts from building in the coco. I have since put the blumats on the shelf as I was tired of feeling like I was on "lets make a deal" and what's behind door #1 every time I opened up my tent. With a good programmable timer, a medium to large storage tote, and a small pump you can easily put together an automated feed system. What ever you do, if you wish to continue using the blumats, make sure you have something under your plants that can catch the contents of your reservoir in the event of a run away. If you have a more specific question, let me know. Not many people in here use or used blumats.

Wings, I feel you actually may be under watering your plants. I would give her a through flushing and then a good saturated handed. Coco really cant be overwatered in a fabric pot. Coco is inert and needs to be recharged regularly with feedings as well as flush out what the plant didnt uptake. If your coco is getting dry to the point it blows easily, it's way too dry. For the size of your plant, a good handfeed to runoff every other day should do it until flowering kicks in and once or more per day. She will tell you. Do not listen to certain growers on here that have never grown in coco and only soil and tell you to treat it like soil and they're dead wrong. I do not have much experience for the flora series nutes with cannabis but I would recommend the frequent feedings at 2/3 strength and see if she turns around. I would put the blumats aside unless you have to head out of town again. Hopefully this helps. Happy growing!

@Wings,I too really wanted to make them work. I'm gonna give the blumats a go in my soil culinary herb garden outside with just plain water feeding as they were intended. It's nice they're "off the grid" but to unreliable for such a sensitive plant. Cheers!

@Ga4rd2en0er, done with blumats lol. Don't worry, I understand high frequency fertigation and its benefits. Its just really hard to actually implement with blumats. I already had everything for an electronic pump feeder set up to feed twice a day so now its back to that with a few changes. Plant seems much happier now

Looking good so far! I run a pretty similar set up, with my Blue Dream'Matic a few weeks further along, and I would be happy to help out if you run into any issues or have any questions. Good luck! 🌱👍

Never seen a baby planted halfway down the cup. Interesting take. Do you notice any Benifits to doing it this way? Early on but ladies looking good

@Wings, it's all about learning 👍. From what I know now compared to my first run 3 years ago is game changing, but I still have A LOT to learn. Have fun, ask questions, and in a couple months you'll be smoking your own stash. What ever you do, don't give up. You will be harvesting plants like tying your shoes after a few runs.

@Wings, hey atleast your learning and that's the most important thing. Yeah generally you dont like the seedling so deep in the pot because of air flow issues that can lead to it creating a microclimate not conducive to growing. But lesson learned and that's what about as a new grower.

@Denzul, honestly just a rookie mistake. I caught a bit of flak for it from more experience growers. Their reasoning was that it would have less airflow sheltered in the the cup like this which is not good for seedlings. For me, I don't have a fan, or a humidifier in the tent yet so I kept it in the bag. On my next grow I am just going to start (and finish) in 3 or 5 gallon pots. The seedling looks a bit stretchier than what I have seen from other Blue Dreammatic seedlings on here.

Oh if you want to thumb through some blumat diaries, check out my "gettin sticky with it" and "Hi I'm Dory". I did not implement them until I was getting into flowering so You may have to scan the first several weeks until you see they're installed. In my notes on the diaries you will see me pulling my hair out in real time.

I hope my grow question answer helped with figuring out the blumats. They are definitely tricky in coco. If you have any more questions, or are looking into another feed system for frequent fertigations in coco, I am happy to help. You are doing well, and good luck with the grow! 👍
