Week 2 is here, nothing crazy happening. a small topping on the strongest plant. I've heard about not topping Autos but I wanted to try it first hand, just one plant. Made a feeding schedule for my plants, this is a first time I'm using weekly nutes. Topped plant #2 the strong one, I'm going to try and separate it into two towers with some LST. Hopefully that works well for me. The temp in the case is really high but since they are sativa dominants i'm not worried, if it was more on the indica side of things I'd need a fast chance of plans before they got to stressed. Plus the one year I grew these outside the ave deck temps where well into the high 20's low 30's, (77f-95f)..... However the substrate temperatures I need to keep lower or that may wreck everything. The plants have been drinking up the water, combination of fabric airports and a warmer tent. I go though about 2 x 4L jugs a week right now. every watering I alternate from calcium fortified to a black strap molasses and magnesium fortified. The concentrations of mg are low, I don't think it will cause a buildup, but we will see. O, in the one photo of the LED strip lights, I have them all on an array. The three in the middle are the original ones I bought, the ones on either side of the middle rows are two I picked up last year and the final two on the outsides are other ones I pick up this year. they all have variations in there LED structure. I cant tell if one or the other is throwing off more lumens but I'm guessing some reversions along the line has made them source different parts. the lights themselves have stamps on them like 1608 or 1711 or 1906 so guessing that's there batch number correlating to the lamps changes in physical appearance.

Is there a massive difference in colour temperature/kelvin of LED's if the lumens, PAR, watts, intensity and every other aspect you can think of is the same but its temp/kelvin is lower? I use a 6500k LEDs, may mix in or switch to 3000K for better flowers if its proven to work.

Hey @m0use! I recommend at least 3500K-4000K for flowering. You will notice a big big difference, you will start feeling the difference when they start stretching up. And finally, as they will be more warm, you will notice on the size on the buds on next weeks! You can still use your 6500K LEDS while combining with 3000K-2500K LEDs. You will improve your spectrum.

@Dinafem_Mark The seed tin I got these in says "OG Kush CBD" its the black version not the white ones, it does not mention 'auto' anywhere on it, yet the vendor I ordered it from said it was an auto, The plants I grew from it a few years back all seemed to be autos, I started them outdoors and they all popped up and flowered in a short period of time. They did not behave like Photos I grew in resent years. Is the white tin for autos a new thing? or maybe I was sent the correct seeds in a wrong tin from the dealer? Just trying to figure out if I am growing Auto or a Photo that I might have tricked into early flower by mistake the first time round. Was not directly ordered from Dinafem, lesson learned. 😅

Also, does anyone know if there is a FAQ section explaining what the icons mean at the top of the dairy next to my user name? or when the level up happens from newbie to apprentice to other levels? Could not find anything in the FAQ, Mainly don't know what the people icon right beside my user name is, it looks like the "growers" icon on the side of the webpage. but I thought the "eye" was the amount of people who have viewed this page. and the "leaf" for the amount of people who like this grow as well as the "chat bubble" for number of comments??

@DinafemSeeds, The first time I grew them it was my first ever grow, didn't know of this webpage and never logged much details. The place I purchased them from said they where auto, it was online from niagara seed bank, granted they sell both versions of OG Kush CBD - auto and photo, so I feel it might have been a mix up. I did not get the feeling anything fishy was happening, If I remember correctly I had the lights on the same schedule as my other seeds "peppers and tomatoes" for only 8-10 hrs a day. I can see how I would then think it was an auto like I ordered as its flowering started early plus I didn't know much of photo strains at that point. I'm going to change the diaries seeds to reflect this is no longer an auto strain. Will need to up the feeding schedule a bit and determine a time to switch the lights to trigger a flowering period for them. Thanks again for the input!

@m0use, Typically our "Autos" do come in a white tin whereas our "Photoperiod" strains are in our traditional black tins 👍 Regardless the tin should have "Auto" to identify the strain 🙏 Sounds like it's photoperiod mate 🤔 Are they acting like an "Auto"?(e.g. are the flowe ring under 18/6) All the best ✌️ Mark..

https://leafist.com/news/growing/the-light-spectrum-matters-when-growing-cannabis found this that is a nice little read. goes a bit into the science of it. but overall simple and palatable.

There is only one caution I would issue mate 👍 Defoliation work is fantastic but be cautious this far into bloom as it could cause issues with possible "hermaphrodites" 👍 Things do look great with no issue's I can see 👌 Keep the diary update coming 🙏 All the best ✌️ Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, Thanks Mark for the tips! I read that nanners could happen :( The other stuff I was reading said the last week you'd want to defoliate in is its 5th week of flower. As a high risk option for "potentially" increasing bud production. I'm in need of some serious tools before I'll get growing proper. I feel I've botch this one as I'm lacking PH testing in water/soil. the original idea of defoliation for this grow was sure why not, as long as it does not die. Next indoor grow will be next level if I get my supplies in hand/shit together. Still got some outdoor grows to practice with. Cheers

What up bro. Nice and solid grow. I need to know. . . U used 7x 18w cool white led tubes ( roughly 130w -6500k ) Throught the entire grow? Veg cycle and flower cycle? What sort of distance did u keep the light at? Do u maybe a some pics of the setup? I have a 150w cool white led at the moment and was thinking of using it aswell for flowering as i dont have a warm white light currently. I know its not the right thing to use for flowering. Just tryna make do with what i have currently. But if u pulled this kind of harvest from running the cool white throughout the grow. I would be really happy. Also do they get any direct suntime? Or do they just stay in the grow box?

Hey, @AfternoonBlazer, If you look into the other weeks on this grow or my other grows you can find most of what you are looking for. but for easy reference see the answers below. yes I used 7 X 18w 6500K Sunblaster LED's at 1950 lumen's daisy chained together on a side-by-side array. look at grow question in this dairy to see its spectrum. yes from seed to harvest throughout its entire life cycle, only these light. entire grow, veg + flower. I Kept the light around 9-12 inches from the plant. sometimes the top tips got closer but not by a lot. No pics of previous setup, it was a Styrofoam slabs glued and painted into a box. flip though some of my other dairies before this one to see other photos of it to get an idea of its shape. it was approx 1.5' x 1' x 5' - L x W x H it totalled 5m squared ish. not big at all. best for autos or one photoperiod plant. you should be fine with white LED's for your first few grows, its what i did as well. If your just starting out upgrade parts slowly and see what works for you, My lights output have a good spectrum and lumen rating for generalized growing. You should check if yours are in the same ball park. The LED light I used are designed for growing plants vs LED's designed for ambient lighting in a room. I kept the lights around 9 inches from the plant, they don't burn at that height. can go as low as 4-6" but not recommended. No outside sunlight for any period of time. just in the grow box from seed to harvest. Best of luck on your grow. Lots of things can happen, use your grow questions and research your ideas, read through the peoples opinions who disagree and agree to get a full viewpoint of the situation as its easy to become clouded or bias of your own ideas. This helps you determine why this may or may not work for yourself. failures are a stepping stone when learned from, don't fear/focus on them :)
