OK here we are again, going to run this grow like I did my last one with some tweaking.  My last grow I wanted it to be stupid simple add nutes into the soil and partway through its life around flowering. It worked out pretty well. This time I'm going to keep the same principle in that I am using Gaia Green Organic fertilizers added at the beginning of the grow with a top up at the start of flower + some added soil amendments in it water. These changes have been made 1)Bigger Pots - 1.7gal 'plastic' to 3gal 'fabric root pouch' 2)Less Plants - 4 plants down to 3 plants 3)additional supplements - CaMg, BSM, KM, 4)a bit more nutrients - extra starting and top up 5)different seeds - Dinafem Og Kush CBD Auto vs FastBuds BlackBerry Auto 6)more lights + extras 1.The pots are a fabric based pots that are wider compared to the plastic pots from the previous grow that were more vertical. The volume also changed can hold a hefty 3 gallons of medium vs the 1.7 gallons from the previous. Another advantage is the natural air pruning that happens with this sort of air pot. Will need to water a bit more because of evaporation but also might help keep the tents humidity up.  2..The number of plant selected was dictated because of the wider pots. If tent was bigger I'd still do 4 plants. 3...The extra supplements will be calcium and magnesium, kelp meal and black strap molasses. Make my own Ca supp using 10% acetic acid and calcium carbonate, then ill add epsom salts in water when needed with the powdered kelp meal. The black strap molasses will be to feed to microbiom of the soil and to provide some small micro nutrients like b vitamins. and yes it is unsulfured. 4....The extra nutrients are the same Gaia Green Organics, I'm using a bit more in the pots then previous grows. keeping the same amount of perlite, worm castings and bloom nutes when they are added. same medium of pro-mix organic veg. 5.....The plant selection was between more blackberry or some og kush cbd, my friends really liked the og last time I grew it and I have a bunch of blackberry buds right now so gong for a new strain. It would have been more conclusive if I grew more blackberry, this way I could tell if the additional extras I'm doing in this grow would've made a big difference. But with the pot sizes and type changing I figured I'd use up some older seeds I have on hand and bring back a classic. I grew the other OG Kush CBD plants in 3gal buckets outdoors and can ruffly remember the yields off of them, so I'm setting my goal to get about 1.5 - 2 times more then that. Being old seeds they took longer to pop but 100% germination rate. Had a full day and a half before they sank and another two days before any bit of the seed tail started to pop its shell. placed them in a dish with moist paper towel and a lid. let them grow a day on top of fridge then planted. 6)......The lights have been extended by two more strips. I now have an array with 7 X Sunblaster LED 18" 18w @6500k w/ 1950 lumen output. This will bring my wattage up from 90w to 126w. these extra strips will help me take care of the darker front and back that the last grow had. Also purchased a little Thermo-Hygrometer the Mondi Mini. no PH tester yet but not doing hydro so meh. maybe next grow maybe not. Plant #1 Is Back Left Plant #2 Is Back Right Plant#3 Is Front Centre

Week 2 is here, nothing crazy happening. a small topping on the strongest plant. I've heard about not topping Autos but I wanted to try it first hand, just one plant. Made a feeding schedule for my plants, this is a first time I'm using weekly nutes. Topped plant #2 the strong one, I'm going to try and separate it into two towers with some LST. Hopefully that works well for me. The temp in the case is really high but since they are sativa dominants i'm not worried, if it was more on the indica side of things I'd need a fast chance of plans before they got to stressed. Plus the one year I grew these outside the ave deck temps where well into the high 20's low 30's, (77f-95f)..... However the substrate temperatures I need to keep lower or that may wreck everything. The plants have been drinking up the water, combination of fabric airports and a warmer tent. I go though about 2 x 4L jugs a week right now. every watering I alternate from calcium fortified to a black strap molasses and magnesium fortified. The concentrations of mg are low, I don't think it will cause a buildup, but we will see. O, in the one photo of the LED strip lights, I have them all on an array. The three in the middle are the original ones I bought, the ones on either side of the middle rows are two I picked up last year and the final two on the outsides are other ones I pick up this year. they all have variations in there LED structure. I cant tell if one or the other is throwing off more lumens but I'm guessing some reversions along the line has made them source different parts. the lights themselves have stamps on them like 1608 or 1711 or 1906 so guessing that's there batch number correlating to the lamps changes in physical appearance.

Not a whole lot to report this week. plants growing nicely. responding well to the topping on plant #2 and the LST Ran into some issues with some fungus gnats, they where not around in my last grow so guessing they came in from the medium I purchased. Nothing to bad ATM. Hard to let the medium dry out to kill them with fabric pots because it dries out on all sides. Will get some predatory nematodes to kill em off, used them before with 100% success in my other house plants. Also the feeding schedule is going well, does not seem to mind it.

OK, so its been a fun week, few updates one major Mark from Dinafem seeds helped me confirm that the seeds I'm growing are not autos and are in fact, photos. Back in the day when I ordered seeds from a Canadian based supplier I requested that the seeds be Dinafem's OG Kush CBD Auto* but there was a mix up and I received OG Kush CBD just not the auto version. To make it more confusing when I started the seeds indoors and then moved them outside I had not been giving them 12+ hours of light. So they started there flowering early making me think they where autos. All in all it's good I know now, I can continue to play around with my plants and then update my feeding schedule for them. photos need more feed then autos I feel from what I have read. In other news the fungus gnats went away on there own, I have never seen this before so kinda concerned, I did not go out and get the predatory nematodes like I was going to do. Hope this does not mean the medium is turning acidic or basic and not supportive of life. The plants look fine so it's ok for now. need to get a soil PH tester or some strips. I did some more topping on plant number 2, and tried to mainline it, I think I was one node to late as it has 4 main branches coming out vs 2, but I topped all 4 again and pinched off any side suckers. I think this plant will do well with how its being treated. I did not highlight mainlining as a growing techniques as it was not the right way of doing it, but it was still LST and Topping. Also switched the bamboo sticks to zinc coated metal for the items used to LST down the plants. Bamboo was rotting and causing mould before in the previous grow. did not want a recap of that. I think I will switch this into flower 48hr darkness then 12/12 at the end of week 5. I want to start some of my other photo seeds in there that will be growing outdoors this summer. Trying for a 13 week grow in total. trying to aim for 1.5-2 oz a plant this grow, all other grow indoors was just shy of 1oz a plant.

Easy week, did some more topping of all the main branches, and removed some more suckers as they appeared, plant number 2 looks the best out of them all when doing this. It got main-lined right away and its structure and growth show it. So most plants have between 6-8 main cola sites and they will all support 2-3 extra sites because of the last pinch... plants one and three have some of the lower side shoots on and they are thicker and bigger now so I left them. Moving into flowering I will no longer pinch off any growth unless its below the nodes I want t turn into colas or fan leaves are blocking to much light. Mild LST to keep colas from crowding each other will be key I feel. Added in some Gaia Green 4-4-4 for extra nutes this week as its now a photoperiod, felt i need to give it some more because of that. I have induced its flowering period with 48hrs of darkness, the last two days in this weeks cycle sat-sun where its dark times, tossed over a thick blanket on the vents of the tent and let it rest. not 100% light proof but its ok as long as the light does not directly hit the plants from the source, bouncing light is ok. The newer growth that has popped up is lime green vs dark :D and its temperature and humidity have changed drastically. 35c to 18c and 30-40% RH to 90% RH. The lights come back on tomorrow morning it will fix all of this. Used the ave temp/humidity I saw overall in week for the post vs whats in pics. Part of the flowering will be switching it onto a 12/12 for the next few weeks, was reading about doing 12/12 then going into a 11/13 to 10/14 all the way to 8/16 when its flowering to make its buds bigger, don't know if I'll do this, need to find more evidence of it being useful vs a standard 12/12. Hope all goes well and nothing sets it back to much. I would have liked to keep it in veg till week 8 and get more topping and coverage but I want to harvest this and start my out door plants asap in the tent.

Ok, Big week this round, Set the plants into flower from the last two days of the previous week, they have been on a 12 hr on/off cycle after that 48hr period of darkness. They have started to smell and are developing there budding sites I feel. Very happy bout this. I've noticed that the soil has started to mould again, it seems to be linked to when I mix in the power bloom 2-8-4 from Gaia Green, I mix it in the top part of the soil and without fail the next watering its moulding all over. It does not seem to bother the plants to much but this will prevent me from using it again in the future I would like a zero mould option. May spray the top bit with some hydrogen peroxide to kill it off/set it back. The plants are also handling the high temp and humidity quite well, it seems the reason for it being so high is the air pots. As before I had more plants in the case then now and it was always at about 30%. solid black plastic vs fabric "granted also plastic" nutrient schedule is upped a bit. moving calcium up from 1.5ml to a 2-2.5ml and same with magnesium from 1ml - 1.5-2ml. The black strap molasses is going from 1tsp to 2tsp. Kelp meal 1-0-3 is staying on at 1tea per gal as well. Will add in citric acid at same time as ascorbic acid for flowering period. Can't wait till flowering gets into motion, I have a feeling these ones are gonna stink up my place. Only time will tell.

Big change happened, one of my plants decided to become a male. It did not hermie, just became a full blown male. So I killed it, took some photos of all its balls for the fans of that sorta thing lol. Another weird thing I noticed is the nutrient graph is off. Example if I say I'm putting in 2 teaspoons "aprox 10ml" per gal vs 2.5 ml per gal, it says the 2.5 ml has a higher concentration percentage 28%-10ml vs 35%-2.5ml. I'm guessing is this is because the ml vs tsp is using different measurements of gallons like metric "3.78L" vs imperial "4.5L"?? I might go back and just convert every to ml/l and have it standardized to the 1/1000, kind of annoying, but will be accurate. Would be nice to see a grams options for dry feed or grams/ml or L Other then that above nothing much has changed, got the flowering stage fully implemented, seeing some pistols on the girls so I know it's going well.

Fun week, I think the plants are making good headway and smelling great. First thing I did differently was give them a 2nd feeding during flower like last grow. However I did not use the Gaia Green Power Bloom 2-8-4 alone, I also used equal parts "10ml/2tsp" Gaia Green All Purpose 4-4-4 and Gaia Green Kelp Meal 1-0-3 totalling the new N-P-K number to 2.3-4-3.6 I may feed again in another two weeks if I feel they can grow more and are not maxing out the case. I'm not worried about there being Nitrogen in the mix, its not going to upset it and plants still need it, the flowers are composed of mini sugar leaves as well. I will be keeping all other nutrients and amendments on the same track, BSL, CA+MG fortification with citric and ascorbic acid mixed in with every water. The fungus gnats came back and went away again, its weird they don't stay too long. Any other grow I've read about they don't just take a break. The plants do not seem to be affected by them at all in any noticeable stress indicator that I can see. The smell is starting to come along, the two plants smell almost identical, a seductive lemon citrus sent with some pepper undertones. SO NICE!, the first time a grew this it was very pine like but maybe that was because it was outdoors? Digging the smell on this one big time. nothing else to report, till next week.

Trying the defoliation technique on my plants, wish i did a bit more in vegetative growth, but we'll see what happens, I think its working a bit. only been four days. before and after the pluck done on the 26th. One thing I did notice is that my plants are about two weeks behind vs the autos I grew last. Granted these plants are 2x the size, and grown in a bigger pot. The Blackberry from previous grow had the same size and growth pattern in week 8 vs my ones in this grow at week 10, could be the difference of growing Autos indoors vs Photos first time doing this. End yield will tell the truth. Just may have the let it go a bit longer.

Is there a massive difference in colour temperature/kelvin of LED's if the lumens, PAR, watts, intensity and every other aspect you can think of is the same but its temp/kelvin is lower? I use a 6500k LEDs, may mix in or switch to 3000K for better flowers if its proven to work.

Hey @m0use! I recommend at least 3500K-4000K for flowering. You will notice a big big difference, you will start feeling the difference when they start stretching up. And finally, as they will be more warm, you will notice on the size on the buds on next weeks! You can still use your 6500K LEDS while combining with 3000K-2500K LEDs. You will improve your spectrum.

ok, so this weeks alright. Minimal growth on the plants maybe still recovering from the defoliation from earlier. Got a helpful tip from Mark at Dinafem about using that technique so late into flowering but decided to take the risk. from what I read week 5 of flower is the last time you'd want to do it. I think this grow would have benefited from a PH controlled water and soil perspective greatly. I'm lacking the equipment for this and I don't want to buy a cheep pen or soil meter for it to die in a year, saving up for some blue-lab products, read nothing but good reviews about them. seems to be legit for this kinda stuff. I'm also growing in peat and I'm not a fan of it, I much prefer coir but it was all sold out at my regular places and did not want to order online as my seeds where already popped at the time. So thous two negatives are holding me back, Got to find a way around them. I'm estimating this will be a low harvest yield under 1oz a plant maybe at 1oz. but not expecting much, from what I can tell the buds are a bit denser then the last grows and they were smelling like hints of lemon n black pepper to now smelling like white wine. I've not seen any mold to indicate rot or ammonia. but who knows, could just be the strain, my roomie says it smells like fuel like to him. Removed the BSM for the remainder of the week as I feel its to much for it right now, will just supplement with my other things and water till otherwise. Trichomes are looking good, some cloudy mostly clear, zero amber. Guessing another 3 weeks till harvest.

This weeks been good, Seen some growth on plant number 3, plus its got a lot of fresh pistoles. buds thickening up a bit, looking better, the photos did not do it a lot of justice will take better ones next week with some Macro. over all on schedule for harvest in a bit, hoping for week 15, get in as much extra growing as I can but maybe week 14 if plant number 2 starts to amber up.

*=UPDATE=* Smoke Report *=UPDATE=* Harvest Totals **Smoke Report and effects** to follow after cure, May 10th ish. This was my second ever indoor grow, and compared to my last grow I have learned a lot. My goal this time was to get about 1.5-2oz a plant, up from my previous goal of 1oz a plant from last grow. Best part is I got to my goal!!😁 Next goal will be 2oz+ a plant. This was the last time I will be using my homemade grow tent, it was compromised out of recycled Styrofoam, miss-tint paint and glue, it provided me what I needed to get the job done one a extreme budget but it is preventing me from doing more. The main problem I ran into this grow was humidity control/space. The fan broke half way through and I was too lazy to get a new one as I figured I'll wait till I get a real tent. This mind set enabled some mould to flourish and that is why I had to harvest early. I felt if I let the plants go 2 more weeks, I would have hit 2oz a plant, it was only a few grams away, however if I kept going with the mould I would have been down to 1oz after all the rot was cut out from both plants, that shit fucks up your grow fast if you don't manage your air circulation. So the main things I learned: 1) I was underfeeding my plants in there 2nd half of life, thus the buds from the previous grows and this one suffered a bit. This grow does have the most dense buds I have ever grown, but it could have been better. 2) PH is key, I still did not have a PH meter but was blindly altering the PH of my water by adding in some citric acid, not only to neutralize the chlorine but also lower the PH a bit. When I did test the soils PH using a soil testing kit, it was lower then previous grows. This helped get more nutrients into the plants and grow bigger. previous grows the PH was 7-7,5 ish 3) You can get an "ok" harvest off of blue lights, my grow was under seven 18" 6500k 18w sunblaster LEDs, and I thought they would never get over 1oz a plant because they don't have the best spectrum for cannabis in flower, among the other dumb things I do as a novice grower. but they worked out just fine, still going to upgrade in time with proper lighting in the 3500k range. 4) Once the plants get bigger and buds start to becoming more dense, the air circulation is needed, its is not longer optional for a budget grow in a shity homemade tent. 5) Defoliation works. my plants have ruffly the same amount of buds, however the plant that I fiddled around with mainlining and defoliation had bigger fatter buds vs popcorn nugs like the opposite plant. 6) Fungas gnats are annoying, fuck them, use nematodes to kill them flat in there tracks. 7) Getting better at making edibles. :) So other then that, the only real differences between this is last grow is lower PH in tap water, more lights, slightly bigger pots, bit more feed and different genetics from a different breeder. I followed everything else ruffly the same. My own hydro break down from lights alone is below. I did not notice any big difference between the two plants and there phenotypes, I was meaning to take a clone and try and grow it outdoors again but forgot and that was my last of the seeds. I was surprised that one of them was a male. not even hermi, full blown male. I'm not into breeding or I would have kept him, Yields: Plant # 1 - male, killed Plant # 2 - 42.1g bud, 13.15g trim (1 .49oz, 0.46oz) bigger fatter buds Plant # 3 - 45.1g bud, 13.15g trim (1.59oz, 0.46oz) smaller nugs, almost all popcorn. =Overall - 87.2g total bud, ave 43.6g a plant. 26.3g trim ave 13.15g a plant. Smells: plants 2-3 - both smelled the same, in the beginning they had a lovely sexy lemon sent, then in the end it just turned into something else, I think some of the moulds in the tent altered it a bit. Will wait till after cure to see what its like, I noticed some changes in just drying and having them in the jars for two days now. Now that the cure is all done and finished the two strains smell a bit different in there respective jars but there smoke is almost identical. plant #2 or pheno #1 is more of a classic OG Kush smell to me, its earthy, herbal and pungent. Hints of pine in there with lemon bit woody. plant #3 or pheno #2 is more of a bright one, It's sweet smelling with berries in it, some hints of almost floral like in it, not quite rose or lavender something else, not what I was expecting at all. I like this smell better vs the other plant. Smoke Report It took its sweet time but I finally got it in. I myself do not smoke, so I relay on my roomie for this part of the report, they are a long time smoker 10+ years. They have reported that the smoke smooth and easy going, they would say it was a bit smoother then my previous grow of OK Kush CBD and Blackberry. the only noticeable differences between the different phenos is that pheno #1 is more pungent that phoneo #2 but over all the smokes flavours and quality are the same just brighter in phone #2, I feel these are a bit off from the original seeds I grew back in the day from my first ever grow but still high quality. this was rated as a equal balance of sativa and indica feels on smoking but the smells where leaning towards sativa a bit. m0use +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Cost + Time Analysis Of Growing Cannabis. m0use’s Breakdown +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Light Schedule === growth: 18h on 6h off flower: 12h on 12hr off GROWTH: 35days 5am-11pm-on -- 11pm-5am-off --- Cost of kwh with on-peak "20.8c", mid-peak "14.4c" and off-peak "10.1c". 5am - 7am -- 2hr @10.1c/kwh off-peak 7am - 11am -- 4hr @20.8c/kwh on-peak 11am - 5pm --6hr @14.4c/kwh mid-peak 5pm - 7pm -- 2hr @20.8c/kwh on-peak 7pm - 11pm -- 4hr @10.1c/Kwh off-peak --- 6h @10.1c/kwh 6h @20.8c/kwh 6h @14.4c/kwh --- Using the previous c/kwh numbers above I can find out the daily cost of the lamps in the 3 peak periods. growth and flower 6h x 10.1c/kwh = 60.6c/kw * .126 kw = 7.64c off-peak 6h x 20.8c/kwh = 124.8c/kw * .126 kw = 15.72c on-peak 6h x 14.4c/kwh = 86.4c/kw * .126 kw = 10.89 c mid-peak The "h" hours and "kw" kilowatts cancel out and we are left with a value of "c" cents per peak period add all the peak periods up and you get your cost of running the lights in cents per day c/d --- growth : 7.64c + 15.72c + 10.89c = 34.25c/d FLOWER: 52days === 8am-8pm-on -- 8pm-8am-off --- Cost of kwh with on-peak "20.8c", mid-peak "14.4c" and off-peak "10.1c". 5am - 7am -- 0hr @10.1c/kwh off-peak 8am - 11am -- 3hr @20.8c/kwh on-peak 11am - 5pm --6hr @14.4c/kwh mid-peak 5pm - 7pm -- 2hr @20.8c/kwh on-peak 7pm - 8pm -- 1hr @10.1c/Kwh off-peak --- 1h @10.1c/kwh 5h @20.8c/kwh 6h @14.4c/kwh --- Using the previous c/kwh numbers above I can find out the daily cost of the lamps in the 3 peak periods. growth and flower 1h x 10.1c/kwh = 10.1c/kw * .126 kw = 1.27c off-peak 5h x 20.8c/kwh = 104c/kw * .126 kw = 13.10c on-peak 6h x 14.4c/kwh = 86.4c/kw * .126 kw = 7.77c mid-peak The "h" hours and "kw" kilowatts cancel out and we are left with a value of "c" cents per peak period add all the peak periods up and you get your cost of running the lights in cents per day c/d --- flower : 1.27c + 13.10c + 7.77c = 22.14c/d Lights === LED’s I use are 18w each and I have 7 lamps on an aray. 18w*7 = 126w | 126w/1000 = 0.126Kw growth: 18h/d lights on * .126kw lights hydro use = 2.27kw/d flower: 12h/d lights on *.126kw lights hydro use = 1.51kw/d G:79.45 + F:78.52 = 157.97kw for the entire grow. The calculation that makes sense to me is this, harvested dry weight of usable cannabis buds/trim/keif/whatever in grams divided by total kw used. Could also combine it with grams per total single use costs “anything you used only for this grow and wont reuse in the next, or fractions of multi use items like fertilizers if they ½ full” and see how much you’re investing per gram. "kw" ÷ "g" = kw/g "$" ÷ "g" = $/g I have harvested 4oz or 113.5g on 157.97kw, this includes buds and trim in mycase. 157.97kw ÷ 113.5g = 1.39kw/g of usable cannabis. I’d still try and aim for under 1kw/g. $23.51 ÷ 113.5g = $0.20g The other ratio would have been, 113.5g to 126w = 0.9g/w just shy of the 1 mark. So in total, it cost me 20c per 1g I grew in light electricity alone. Not to bad. legend, kwh = kilowatt per hour kw = kilowatt w = watt h = hour c = cents $ = dollars d = day LED= Light Emitting Diode
